Hi everyone,

My husband Dom, has a fledgling YouTube channel that he started earlier in the year. He put together a video of how we transformed one of our spare bedrooms into my painting room and he's uploaded it there. So, when you have time, I thought you might be interested to have a look and see how we transformed it from a storage room into my work room.

I've also just finished the Sea Turtle today so I'll start work on the tutorial now. I should have it ready for you next week some time.

Transforming a spare bedroom into an art studio.

See how I turned a spare bedroom into an art studio. My wife asked me to turn the spare bedroom into an art studio for her to paint in. I think it turned out great and she loves it.

Lovely job of your painting room…well done! I like the soft colours of the room and that cabinet is a brilliant touch!

Your studio looks amazing! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I am finishing the Macaw this weekend, and looking forward to the sea turtle tutorial - which by the way looks marvelous!!!

Louise De Masi

Thank you very much Daniel. That shell was a bit of a challenge. I hope your Macaw works out ok. Have a fabulous weekend.

I just love your new workroom. You are so blessed to have such a talented husband. We have a spare room that I use as a sewing room. It needs a bit of cleanup so that I can have a place for painting. At the moment I use my dining table.

The turtle is sooo beautiful but I don't think I am ready for it at all xx

Louise De Masi

Thanks Kathy. I remember those days of painting on the dining room table. As long as you've got somewhere to paint it doesn't matter.

Louise De Masi

Thank you Alex. The hardest part I found was the shell. Work your way up to it if you're not ready for it. I'd like to do a few really simple beginner painting tutorials that go right back to the basics. So much to do! 💕

Marijke de Boer

The turtle is simply gorgious - really stunning!

Robyn

Love the turtle. Your art room is so organised, mine constantly looks like a bomb hit it, even 5 minutes after its been tidied. Good work, tell hubby his a gem.

Louise De Masi

Thanks Robyn. Lol....mine too. It's a mess at the moment. I think that was the only time it was tidy - for the 'reveal' on his video.

Laurel

❤️ the turtle! Was lucky enough to see many during our trip to Maui so excited to give this a go! Beautiful room, so peaceful and organized.

Did you use cold or hot water press - I am about ready to stretch some paper..... I finished the Hydrangea painting and it turned out lovely:)

Annika

So wonderful!!! You are a terrific painter!! I try to find this paper that you use to put over your photos.... I notice that I often miss small( but very important ) details when I try ro sketch myself! I have to learn to be patient....😂!!

Louise De Masi

I used hot pressed for this one but I don't think it will matter either way. There is a bit of liner work on the body of the turtle however so if you'd rather do that on smooth paper go for the hot pressed.

Marijke de Boer

Thank you that is helpful. I will stretch a sheet and looking forward to seeing the tutorial:)

The sea turtle looks wonderful. The shell does look tricky, but it's so lovely. It will be a while before I can get to paint this one, more on the “to paint” list which keeps growing and I keep changing my mind about which one I will do next. I do have a tutorial request, can you please do a cat tutorial (face, body or whatever inspires you). My daughter loves cats and I really want to paint one for her. I appreciate all your tutorials, they have taught me so much, thank you Louise for generously sharing your talent.

What a GREAT job on your new studio! You both worked so hard on it!! Love the sea turtle!

Rita Navroth

Thank you Louise. On second look, I'm looking forward to painting this sea turtle, it really is nice. The background of the sea is so softly showing swimming motion. I just LOVE it. I know it will be a challenge, but what a delightful one. :-)

Your husband did a great job! You both did!

Maritza

Your hubby is also an artist wow

Kathy Wilden

I was wondering if you would consider painting a bunch of grapes. I think it would be a very interesting subject.

Mia Bryant

Love it! The neutral tones are very soothing and you have so much natural light. Beautiful home and what a sweet husband you have!

Laura Etchemaite-Walborn

What amazing job did your husband! You both make it look like an easy task and is not. Love your studio!!!

Paula Bush

What a beautiful studio...mine is a wreck and needs SO much work! I can’t wait to see what you will create in such wonderful and peaceful surroundings...kudos to you, Dom, you are a master!
