Hi everyone,

I hope you're having a good week. I'm just popping in to welcome all my new patrons and give you a quick look at what's on my painting table at the moment.

I've had a few of you request a Sea Turtle as a subject so I started working on this painting yesterday. I swam with them in New Caledonia a few years ago. They are beautiful and gentle animals and it was a wonderful experience I won't forget. I'll start working on a tutorial as soon as I finish the painting. Hopefully I won't ruin it 🤞🏻.

For those of you who are new here I have an early post where I ask you to let me know what you'd like to learn. I keep a list on my computer desktop and I add to it when I receive suggestions. I'm slowly working my way through the list. Here's the post: https://www.patreon.com/posts/27366019

As I add more and more tutorials here on Patreon I am anticipating that it may become harder to navigate the site so I've created an index on my website where you can see all the tutorials at once and you can click on the thumbnail of the class you want to do and be bought back here to Patreon to that particular tutorial.

The link for the index is here: http://www.louisedemasi.com/new-index

Just scroll down a little and you'll see it.

Ok, back to my painting. Have fun.

xx

Wow, he is so gorgeous and distinguished looking!! And I live in a state (South Carolina) known for its Sea Turtles! In fact, we love and protect them so much that we will arrest you and just about hang you the same day if you so much as raise your voice around our precious little baby turtle-ettes when they're trying to make their way from shore to sea after they hatch, so it's best to tread lightly on Carolina beaches during Turtle Season! But aren't they just the most Beautiful and Majestic, Homely But Beautiful Shelled Creatures ever?! Can't wait to ruin this when I paint it, Louise! (but maybe after a few times, I'll get it halfway right) Thanks for much for choosing to paint Sea Turtles!

Lol..... 🤣🤣🤣 I love your second last sentence. I'm laughing away here. Thank you I needed that. 😘

Louise De Masi

And...yes they are beautiful and precious and I'm pleased they protect them over there. 💕

I cant wait to start this! I'm working on your sunflower right now, so this little guy will be next in line!! Thank you so much once again for sharing your amazing talent with us!

Turtles made me choose a career in marine biology! They have been around since the dinosaurs.... so a pretty long time. They are quite fascinating and simply gorgious! I can't wait for trying to paint a marine creature:) For now I am drowning in Hydrangea - so why did I decide to use hot press paper...??? Silly me.

Yippee! Can't do anything much atm - jury duty :( Been so looking forward to the stunning bird and the turtle. Sooooooooooon.

So looking forward to try out my first tutorial with you Louise. The sea turtle looks like a wonderful place to start.

Wow!!!! You have really changed my painting-skills since I joined your ’skillshare’ and ’patreon’! Before this I painted and painted and didn’t get anywhere and I went to expensive classes that made me feel even worse!! But this is so great and all those lovely animals and the way you describe the way of doing it..... I just love it! The only thing is that I cannot paint all at the same time so this will make me learn to be patient!!! GREAT!!!! And I love turtles! I have swam with them to; they are wonderful!!!!❣️🙏

Louise De Masi

Thank you very much Annika. That's so good to know. I'm glad you are having success with it. I'm like that too......there's so much I want to get to just enough time to do it all. 💜

Annika

And you should take this as a resultat that you are a terrific teacher..... all my family has been artists in one way or another. So it is easy to feel ’you have to be good’.....

Annika

And btw ... this is way more effektive than every antidepressant that exist!!

Annika

i can wait for ’my’ eagle.... now I have lots of other projects first

Annika

one question; when you make a sketch before you paint; is that something I can download?? Is that correct??

Louise De Masi

I normally don't make a sketch before I paint. I usually use the reference photo and trace over it and transfer it onto the watercolour paper with saral paper. Then I make any changes I need to and add any detail I'm missing by hand once I've got the main shapes on the paper. I'm usually eager to start painting so this saves me time. The line drawing I provide with each tutorial is a tracing of my final painting.

I love the index Louise! Thanks for that!
