I’ve enjoyed every single tutorial you have done, but this one is magical. I’m struggling with it might but I still enjoy watching you.

This guy is on my shortlist. 😁

great thanks Louise, he was actually quite time consuming to do, but as always I learned quite a bit. I have silver scrubbers on order and wont be here for a while but made do with what I had, I also ordered your sea life book, I think I bought the last one ! Anyways I'm thoroughly enjoying and learning so much you bring me so much joy and happiness with your classes, Many Thanks Claire :)

Beautiful !! The challenge for me was because the line drawing ended up 3 inches shorter so many of the detailed parts were small. Especially the eye. Also I used cold pressed Arches paper which is bumpy when tracing the small detail. The line drawings I have to print on a printer that only does 8 1/2 X 11 paper but my husband thinks that I have it set to "shrink to fit" . I will try that next time. Thank you Louise!! I can't wait for the live stream today.

Hi Louise. I am currently working on the turtle (and love it, of course). I have a question about shading on the turtle and also the shells...why do we paint shading first, even when a lighter color goes over it? I thought I was supposed to paint light to dark? Thank you

Hi Vicki, Can you let me know which part of the shell you mean specifically.....how far into it so I can have a look? If you could let me know the time on the video I'll watch that part to remind myself. I painted this in 2019 and I don't remember what I did exactly. Thanks.

Hi. On the right-hand side of the turtle shell, bottom part. Also, it was the same approach on the two sea shells (the curved shells with a lot of an orange color on them (some burnt Sienna?) First we painted the burnt Sienna/ultramarine shadowing on them, Thank you

Louise De Masi

On the two seashells I paint the shadow on first because if I was to wash that shadow on after I'd painted all the brown markings I would have risked disturbing the markings. The markings are precise shapes that can sit over the top of that loose shadow wash. Had I painted the markings on first- dried it and then rewet it to wash on the grey shadow I may have disturbed those hard edges of the shapes. I do the same thing when I paint a giraffe. I paint the shadows on first so that they can sit under the precise markings on the fur. I'm still not sure when you mean on the turtle. If you can refer me to the time (minute mark) that area appears on the video I can have a look.

Your explanation is perfect. Thank you for that insight. I see you have more members. Yippee! I know I tell everyone who compliments my art (e.g., friends, folks at the place where I do framing) about you. Not sure where to send you my finished pieces. The sunflower in particular elicited many positive responses.

Thank you Vicki! Patrns are sharing ohotos of their paintings in the private Facebook group I have. There's nowhere here on Patreon to share anything unfortunately. The group is here: facebook.com/groups/118323255562001 Members have created albums for each tutorial.

Vicki Falsgraf

I joined but I can't seem to find again (I found it once) those albums of your tutorials. I'd like to see how other people painted the turtle.

In the Facebook group you click on 'Media' up the top. That takes you to a new page where you click on 'Albums' to see the albums.
