Hi everyone,

I'm just popping in to say happy Monday and I hope you have a fabulous week. On my painting desk at the moment is a Zebra. There's lots of glazing on this painting and steady brushwork. I'm painting this one on Arches hot pressed paper that I've stretched. I've got the shadows in and the mane washed in and now I'm starting on the stripes.

I am also reacquainting myself with painting on Ampersand's Aquaboard. I started a flower painting the other day. It's been a few years since I've painted on it and I thought I should practice on it a bit more before I do a tutorial. It's quite a bit different to painting on paper because the surface doesn't absorb paint the way paper does and I've got to adjust the way I paint. So when I get the feel for it again I plan on making a tutorial using it.

I also bought some Crescent watercolour boards because Arches aren't making it anymore. They have arrived so I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Ok, time for some lunch now.

Hi Louise, Another fantastic painting! I enjoy watching and learning from you. You have a wonderful way of teaching. I would like to get some of the small round paint pallets. Would you post where to find them. Thank you so much. Blessings, Janice

Patricia Teal

Looking forward to this tutorial for sure!! I am excited to see how you like the boards as I keep seeing mixed reviews, and I am really interested in not having to stretch the paper.

Tamara Bauer

That's going to be a beauty!!

Kris Briedé

Fantastic! I hope you can make us a tutorial for this. I’ve just finished the Crow and my Husband will frame it and it will be a Christmas gift for my Son. I would love to do the Zebra for my daughter. Any chance of you pre releasing the pencil drawing for the Zebra so we can get prepared whilst waiting for the final tutorial? Just a thought. Thanks again Louise.

Kathy Wilden

Where did you purchase the boards from?

Tracy Lustick

I’m looking forward to your videos this week !

Heather Sanders

Amazing! Can't wait for this one Louise. So many to look forward to painting. I've been stuck on the birds at the moment. I have five of them hanging on my wall at present and am keen to do the crow and cardinal to finish them off.

Louise De Masi

Thanks Kris. I hope your son loves the crow! I'll be making a tutorial as long as I don't muck it up. I trace over my finished painting to get the line drawing so when I've finished painting it I'll upload the line drawing here. It will take me three or four days to get the editing done after that. I'll message you when I've uploaded the drawing.

OH, beautiful zebra. Is there a way to teach the process of taking a photo and creating it into a painting?

Victoria Scrooby

So excited for this zebra painting!! 10pm on Sunday here still 🌃

Kris Briedé

Thanks Louise. That would be great.

Anki Johansson

Wow looking forward to paint the zebra👏❤️🥰

Jahl

OMGosh something to look forward to along with so many others once I get time to paint again. :)

Olivia Bornman

Oooh! One of my Favorite animals we see them quite often (I'm from South Africa), Zebras are almost like your kangaroos they walk freely in some eco estates "mowing" the lawn as they go!😂😂😂 Did your crown tutorial over the weekend! Enjoyed it thoroughly can wait to do the zebra next! Keep well!

Bruna Ciabarri

I think your zebras are superb! It would be fantastic if you taught us how to paint one.

Patricia Espinoza

Looking forward to painting that beautiful zebra with you. 🤗🤗Happy painting!

Elizabeth Pollock

That zebra is already lovely! Hmm, Crescent watercolor board... will have to see if I can find that as I'm not a big fan of stretching paper either. Hope you have a wonderfully creative week. 🥰🤗

Louise De Masi

...and you too Elizabeth. Thank you! I'll let you know what I think of the Crescent board. 💕

Louise De Masi

Thank you Bruna! I'll make a tutorial of this one as long as it works out ok.

Louise De Masi

Wow that's amazing! I'd love to see that. Thanks Olivia. 💕🦓

Linda Pahl

Your in progress zebra painting is striking and lovely, Louise! Since I'm new here I'm not sure of the rhythm and timing of things. I'm wondering when it will be available as a tutorial -- really looking forward to it!

Louise De Masi

Hi Linda, Thank you! I'm still painting it. It will take me another two days to finish painting it and then I have to make a tutorial of it. There's quite a bit of work involved in making the tutorials. I put a post here on Patreon describing my process. It will take at least 4 days to make the tutorial so I'd say I'm about a week away from getting it completed. There's no schedule at this stage but I've committed myself to providing 1 new tutorial a month. I am producing more than that though. You should receive an email whenever I post a new tutorial.

Hi Louise, I have followed your Youtube channel for a little while and have finally become a patron of yours here. I have gone ahead and printed off all the line drawings (A4 only) to follow along and lift my game! I also just purchased the tethertool arm etc as when I am ready, I want to create content for my own channel. Just a tad shy sharing my work in video format atm. I thought the set up was great compared to what I have seen. I'm self taught, however, growing up, I did watch my mother ( Christine Broersen ) paint, an award winning artist in pastels, so I am lucky in that respect. I really enjoy picking up new tricks from various artists and there is always more to learn. I have already painted the Galah, was very easy to follow along, you're a great teacher!

Louise De Masi

Hi Lisa, Thank you very much. I just looked your mum up. She does beautiful work- very realistic. You will have a great mentor in her. 💕

Louise De Masi

Hi Cecilia. I'm working on a piece of Arches paper here 300gsm (140lb) - size 36cm by 51cm (14" by 20").

Louise De Masi

My paper is 36cm by 51cm (14” by 20” ). My zebra measures 40cm (15.7”) from the end of the nose to the rump. 😊

Sara McKiernan

Hi Louise! This is a gorgeous painting, I can't wait to watch the tutorial! What tape you use to stretch your watercolor paper? I haven't been able to find tape that doesn't rip the paper!

Sara McKiernan

This is perfect, thank you very much!

Emma Louise Ireland

Hi Louise I was just wondering what you thought of the Crescent watercolour board? I was going to get some but I’m not sure if it’s any good. I hope you’re keeping well. Hugs.

Louise De Masi

Hi Emma, I am well, thank you! I hope you are too. I painted the Eucalyptus leaves on it. I painted the Eucalyptus Leaves on it and I wrote about it here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/33844226 It was fairly expensive for me to buy and there were a few problems with it so I won't be buying it again. You can see it in action in the Eucalyptus Leaf tutorial.

Emma Louise Ireland

OK 😊 thank you for replying. I will go and check it out. Have a great day!
