For my beginners.

Hi everyone,

Here is the third and final video in the wash series that I made for YouTube. In this video I show you how to paint a variegated wash. I've put it here so you can refer to it if you need it. I will be making a full length tutorial for Patreon of the Wren that you see in the video.

I will also put this video on the Patreon index I have on my website so you can find it easily if you need it: http://www.louisedemasi.com/new-index.

The first in the series is the flat wash: https://www.patreon.com/posts/33533092

Afi Ruel

Hi Louise. I just joined your community and I really enjoy your work.

Afi Ruel

I have a question about the paint consistency you use...would you say it's the middle consistency you use?

Louise De Masi

Hi Afi, I use different consistencies of paint throughout each painting but a middle consistency of paint where there is plenty of pigment in the mixture but it still moves freely on the paper is probably the most used consistency.

Linda Trethouen

You made reference to a tutorial about different types of washes. Where would I find your tutorials?

Louise De Masi

Hi Linda, They are linked in my message underneath this video.

SandraMarie

Very enlightening! Its always good to get back to basic lessons thankyou Louise

SandraMarie

Id like to take a moment to say I absolutely love your art, your teaching style is so calming! Thankyou for sharing

Lydia Shemain

That was so informative Louise. Thank you the beginner tutorials.

Sharon E Toombs

Fantastic, I finally learned what goes wrong with my background washes. Thank you.

Sarah Vale

Thank you Louise. You explain so clearly.

Robyn

Thanks Louise. Looking forward to the little wren. Cheers. Rob

bridget vollmer

Thanks so much...looking forward to the tutorial

Patricia Teal

Thanks so much for doing this series Louise! I am sure that it will go on to help so many new beginners and intermediate painters who forget about these invaluable exercises.

Becky

Lovely! Thanks for all the great information! I love the bloopers at the end. It's also fun to see you in your "domain" while you work! That "quirky" little smile at the end was one of the first fabulous things I liked about your teaching!

Becky

BTW, I became a Patreon of Ali Cavanaugh after seeing you had also connected with her. She's awesome and I enjoy watching her paint her frescoes. I would love it if she actually taught the HOW behind her beautiful works. She did share how to paint those wonderful stripped socks using the complimentary color for each to darken them and give them depth. You are both so talented and patient. I loved her reveal to her former teacher.... generations sharing skills with each other, and artists sharing techniques across the miles. Though I took a couple of years of art classes at university in "another life" ;-), your classes have been the BEST instruction I've ever had the pleasure to experience.

Louise De Masi

Thank you Becky. It's very kind of you tell me. I love Ali's work. I've been in awe of it ever since I saw her first painting.

Shelly Solle

I can't even imagine how hard it is to come up with creative ideas, and videos to keep everyone engaged. You do a very nice job, and we sure do apprecitate it.

Louise De Masi

Thank you Shelly. I'm glad and I appreciate you taking the time to tell me. 💕

Louise De Masi

What a lovely message first thing in the morning for me to read. Thank you very much Beverly.

Karen Roper

I love this variegated wash and noticed immediately the "X" cross of pigment to complement the angle of the twig. Brilliant! Looking forward to the wren tut soon. The bloopers at the end were fun :)

Carolyn Ness

Riveting...you make it look so easy! NOT :) Always stick around for your outtakes...they make me laugh.

Lisa

Very helpful, thank you!

Hilda Iturriaga

Dear Louise, I am most appreciative when you post tutorials for beginners. I have a long way to go to before I would consider myself an intermediate or advanced student of watercolour.
