Hi everyone,

Here's a video about painting cast shadows in watercolour. A few of you told me you were unsure about them so I made this video. I have published this on YouTube this morning. I'm putting it here so I can add it to the clickable indexes in case you need to refer to it in the future. I've attached a copy of my Capsicum (Bell Pepper) finished painting and my reference photo if you want to have a play yourself.

Clickable Patreon index is here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/34865676

The clickable index on my website where you can see the image of the tutorials is here: http://www.louisedemasi.com/new-index

All of the tutorials I have made are on those indexes. I keep them up to date.

Lots of you have been asking me where the frog tutorial is. It's coming!! It's on my computer at the moment - under construction. I will have it ready for you as soon as I can.

The flying Hummingbird tutorial will be ready tomorrow. So look out for that one.

I am also working on the coral rose below and some easy peasy veggies for the beginners.

Happy painting. Enjoy the weekend.

Louise

Hiya, useful lesson in painting shadows. Could you add the reference photo and the finished painting as downloadable files. I’m going to give it a go at drawing and then painting it. That will be great.

Karin L Roberts

Thank you Louise, you are a great teacher.

Stephanie Koski

Oh wow, can’t wait for the veggies tutorials! Thank you from a new subscriber. You are an amazing teacher. I’m so appreciative.

Carole Parks

I love your tutorials! How would we accomplish the reflected light (white) on the left side and bottom of the edge of the pepper? Thanks so much. I'm a new patron and love your painting style! Also, where can I find your acrylic tutorials? :)

Louise De Masi

Hi Carole, Thank you and welcome again! It wouldn't be easy. I would probably paint that area a very pale grey. I think leaving it white would be too stark. Then when I put the red on I'd keep the red away from the outer edge leaving the grey underwash showin there. You'd have to keep your paint edges soft because you wouldn't want a hard paint line there. I haven't had a chance to put any acrylic tutorials on here yet. I hope to do that later in the year. I've been so busy with the watercolour tutorials. All of the tutorials I have on here so far are on the indexes I messaged to you. 😀

Rowena Corlett

just to say apart from your excellent teaching I love your end bits - they not only make you very human but also make me feel I am getting to know you as a person not just as an artist and teacher x

Lisa

Great video, and I loved your bloopers at the end! I will try the capsicum with shadow tonight. Thank you Louise!

I just signed up and am so happy to be here! I love your demos and appreciate it so much that you state what colors you are using as you paint. I know I am going to learn a lot watching your tutorials.

Zoe Lau

Hi Louise, may I know where to find the "charging technique" video that you've mentioned? Tks

Zoe Lau

Thank you😊

Louise De Masi

Hi Sara, thank you. I don't have a line drawing but I could send you a copy of the finished painting if you'd like to try it from that. If you do let me know and I'll email it to you. Thanks.
