Hi everyone,

I hope you've had a great weekend.

Here is the Frog tutorial.

All of the files you need are listed below this message.

I bought the frog reference photo from Wildlife Reference Photos. It was taken by Wendy Sinclair. I can't provide you with the reference photo because of their Terms of Service so I've included the link to the photo if you want to purchase it yourself. The link is on the Supplies List. They have lots of other frog photos on there. You might find a photo you like better and you could apply what I do here to a different photo.

The line drawing file I uploaded (attached below) is full size. If it downloads really small you'll need to enlarge it before you print it. I've included the dimensions of the paper I used on the Supplies List and I also mention it at the start of the video.

I've included a 'doc.x' file of the supplies that I used and a 'pdf' of the same list for those who can't open 'doc.x' files.

Take your time and have fun!

I hope you enjoy it. I'm looking forward to seeing your paintings.

I finished this today. It challenged me. I had wonderful time and enjoyed your teaching.

Ilene

This was a good one for me. I need to learn patience with watercolor. After layers and layers, it turned out quiet well. I've uploaded a picture on Facebook. Thanks so much Louise!

Peggy Radford

I enjoyed painting this one! Thank you, Louise.

I don't have pthalo blue green shade. what should I use.

Louise De Masi

Phthalo blue green shade is a cool blue and mixes to a vibrant green so if you have any cool blues - try some of those.

Zarah McIntosh

Yay! I've been looking forward to this one!

Amy Kenyon

Brilliant tutorial Louise! Im going to check out the Wildlife reference photo website, always looking for good references and a way to support photographers. What size lead do you use with your mechanical pencil? I saw a few drafting pencils online and Im trying to decide which size lead I want. Or I may just get them both haha

Hi,I just joined and am looking forward to learning from all your wonderful painting tutorials. Is there a way to see your videos on Chromecast so that I can watch on my tv making it easier to follow along with the lesson as I have some vision issues.I have watched some other patreon's videos and am able to cast them to my tv so was hoping I could do the same with your tutorials

Louise De Masi

Hi Amy, Thank you. I have a 0.7mm and 0.5mm pencil. They are much the same.

Marty Talley-Sides

Hi Louise, will you be having the bunny tutorial soon? Is there a search button for tutorials? Thank you Marty

Love, love little green frogs, can't wait to get started. Wonderful tutorial

Debra Sullivan

I love this frog!!! I wasn't expecting it, but what a treat! You're spoiling us, Louise. Thank you.

Marijke de Boer

Such a lovely frog - it makes my fingers go itchy as I just want to paint him! Thank you:)

Lydia Shemain

Another fantastic tutorial Louise, thank you. You really teach us so much and it’s such a pleasure to be enrolled in your class. If this is any help to Kerry, I use my 9.7 iPad to view my tutorials — I find it very helpful—helps me to zoom out and magnify areas I’d like to see in detail. I like the fact that I can take a screen shot too and helps me figure out complex areas. I also invested in Apple TV, quite inexpensive, works with any TV and allows one to AirPlay on your large TV screen. Not difficult to manipulate.

Louise De Masi

Thanks so much Lydia for the information. That's a great idea about taking the screen shot.....very clever!

Liz Roberts

Can’t wait to start this one! So enjoying your tutorials Louise.

Aha! I’ve had a colour theory learning moment!! I’ve never been able to mix a nice gray using Ultramarine Blue and Burnt Sienna. All of my adjustments didn’t make a lot of difference and I’d end up with 1/8 - 1/4 of cup (!!) that I’d usually throw away and end up using a pre-mixed grey instead. BUT... I’ve been using the wrong Burnt Sienna! I’ve been using Mijello Mission Gold’s version which, for some reason, contains multiple pigments (PBr25, PR112, PY150). See that yellow pigment in there? For this Tree Frog painting I tried using Winsor & Newton’s Burnt Sienna which contains only one pigment (PR101) and it was easy! And it was a lovely shade of gray. I’m a little embarrassed that I didn’t figure it out earlier but I’m glad I finally did. I just thought I’d mention it here in case anyone else is having the same problem.

Louise De Masi

Ahah! Great information. Thank you for sharing Debra. That's really good to know.

Heather Johnston

Very fun!! Thank you, Louise. Where shall we upload our paintings? (or how?)

Louise De Masi

There is nowhere here on Patreon. They've taken away the community page for new sites like mine. So I created a private Facebook group where you can share your paintings. If you use Facebook you are welcome to join: facebook.com/groups/118323255562001

Mary Kay Flood

To send a picture of a painting (from your tutorials) do I send it to your e-mail?

Mary Kay Flood

Sorry, just saw the same question asked above involving Facebook. I’ll try that. Do you critique the paintings Louise?

Louise De Masi

Thank you Mary. I don't want to start critiquing paintings because I don't have the time I'm sorry.

annie chin
