Lori DiPaola

so much fun...I'm traveling and painted this in a hotel room, not the best set up but I learn so much each time. Where do we share our work to get input and insight?

Monica Rainbow

Absolutely beautiful Louise. Thank you so much for sharing. xx

Jennifer Nicholson

Good morning Louise thank you not sure what you did but wanted to let you know that whatever it was, it worked. I was able to access Part 2 tutorial of the Heron this morning. Many thanks. 🤗

claire Baudinet

I really like your paintings, your way of painting and Then thank you for explaining it so fully ! More than leaving my criticism in the bottom of the water pot and letting "sing" my brushes! Bye !

Louise De Masi

Hi Jennifer. That's good! I didn't do anything so it must have been some sort of glitch. 💕

Sue Liberto

Excited for this tutorial . I have lots of my own Great Blue Heron photos. What is your mixing plate with the grooves on the edge?

Cameron Hartley

We were talking about masking fluid and I still question my ability to use this material to make better paintings. I decided to mask more of the birds edges before putting down the background. All of my work to get an acceptable background is a waste if I cannot get smooth clean edges on the bird especially the beak. For me regardless of how well I paint the rest of this I'll not be pleased with not having a sharp crisp edge on areas of this heron that need one. I must either get better with my larger flat brushes or at laying down a clean straight line with masking fluid.

Louise De Masi

It takes practice. You might find it easier if you use tinted masking fluid so you can see what you are doing with it.

Marjorie Bannish

So happy to see the heron😊! My first effort needs work, even with your expert tutorial! I see how it takes a few tries to create the right painting steps to ‘get ‘ it right. I tend to be impatient (!!!) but see how valuable it is to do a study or two. Many thanks for not cutting corners😊😊!

Sarah Vale

Hello Louise. Thanks for the care you put into your tutorials. I especially appreciated the alternate feather colouring part. It seems obvious now, but must have taken a bit of practise. Thank you. Sincerely, Sarah.

Cinthia Teague

I very much enjoyed this process. I didn't realize you could mask his back that way. I didn't have the best brush to do the work, but it turned out well in spite of myself. I'm wondering if you recommend a good brush for applying this masking fluid. Mine is synthetic, and tiny, but the stuff is so sticky, the point doesn't stay.

Louise De Masi

Hi Cinthia, I use my old synthetic watercolour brushes that used when I first started painitng in watercolour. Mine are Winsor and Newton 'Cotman' series.

Mel Johnson

Aaargh. I went too dark with the grey and also managed to get a brown tint in it! I think I need to practise practise practise.

Lila Matessino

Are you up to doing a Pelican or some seagulls to go with my Heron?

Nancy Gosnell

I can’t wait! I saw a painting of a pelican that you previously had created and it was gorgeous!!!!!

Maggie Paiton

I am on my second heron as I see my mistakes with the first ( messed up the background ) I am a beginner and in awe of your talent ! Your tutorials are amazing every one I have done I am so pleased and can’t believe I painted it ! I have learned so much about paint and technique from you - thank you onwards and upwards !

Louise De Masi

That's wonderful Maggie. I'm so pleased. Thank you very much for your lovely message. 💕
