Hi everyone,

I hope you are having a relaxing weekend and finding some time to paint. I thought I'd give you a look at my painting table today.

I've been at my computer all week so I took Friday and yesterday and today off to try and get some painting done. I get itchy fingers when I don't get to paint for a few days. I know a lot of you have asked me to do some tutorials on painting people. People are a subject I've not painted before so I have to teach myself before I can teach you.

I did a study of this one on Friday and yesterday I started this bigger painting. I'm playing around with mixing skin tones and trying to find what colour combinations I like and what techniques I should use. I'm still stuggling with hair. I find it difficult to decide when to stop fussing with it. It's not easy! I'm filming all of this one so as long as I don't fall flat with it I should be able to share my struggles with you in a tutorial in the coming months.

Today I also started to voice over one of the succulents that I painted recently so I hope to have that tutorial posted before the end of this month. I've also got the other cat with the butterfly, the other succulent, the budgie, the fuchsias, the bee eater and the barn owl to work on. So lots coming up.

Welcome to my new patrons!

Below are the tutorial indexes I have made:

Not this one I'm sorry Colleen. I was still learning when I painted this and I don't want to teach people my bad habits.

It’s looking good. I did a painting of my granddaughter about 3 years ago. It was my first time and I’m quite pleased with it. Looking forward to the finished product.

Jane Newman

I love how you learn with everybody. Wishing I could decide I’m going to learn something and then just do it. Sadly it doesn’t turn out that way so looking forward to your tutorial.

Karen Morris

This is BEAUTIFUL, Loise. You’re doing such a wonderful job and I love the hair. You could not have picked a more darling subject. I don’t know how you do all that you do. You’re Superwoman for sure. Keep safe, Loise and thank you for all you do for us.

Alexandra May

Oh Louise this is scrumptious. I’m so excited to paint along. No hurry at all though. You have a lot on your plate! Above all take care of yourself 💛 Thank you so much for all your hard work. I appreciate it - and you - very much

Christine Ellis

What an adorable painting and so many exciting tutorials to look forward to. Thank you for sharing your skills with us. 💕

Julie Gissing

I wish my struggles turned out this good! I'd love to be able to paint my granddaughter when she arrives next year, so I'm excited for these tutorials. Thank you!

Eleanor

What a lovely child. And what a lovely painting. I’ll have to find one of my daughter when she was that age.

Teresa Arsenault

This is looking fantastic. Maybe it's my quirky mind, but next to the bucket it looks like there is a rolled up disposable diaper. :D

Lise Bowles

Beautiful! Your struggles are very much worth it! What a great depiction of the adorable subject!

Mary Kay Flood

You’re doing very well Louise. I know how much I need encouragement so there’s some for you. Just takes time. Thanks for sharing the struggles as well as the triumphs!

I think you're doing an amazing job! Skin tones are spot on and the hair is looking great as well. I started drawing people about a year ago. Now that I am comfortable with it I am wanting to paint wc portraits. It's a goal that I've had for years. I know that your tuts are going to be an excellent way in helping me. Hugs

Louise De Masi

Thank you Teresa. Lol....it does look like that. It's a toilet roll covered in paper towel. I've been wiping my brush on it. 😂

Martha Andrews

That’s beautiful Louise! I’ve done some portraits of children, but prefer doing animals 😍. The hardest thing for me is to make sure the edges are all very soft and smooth and to find the right colors for the shadows on their skin where it doesn’t make them look older or bruised. You’ve done an amazing job on both the skin and the hair...congrats! You should be proud of your efforts! And I’m loving all your tutorials, I learn something new in every one I’ve done because you’re such a gifted teacher. Thank you!

Diane King

This is so lovely! You have a perfect eye for skin tones! I can't wait to see the tutorial on this one.

Louise De Masi

Thank you very much Martha. I'm finding that too with the colours. That's why I need to paint a lot more before I'll be confident with it.

Sudha Neelakantan

Can't wait to see the tutorial -- I am struggling with splotty blotchy skin tones etc. Yours has come out so so beautiful!

Emma Louise Ireland

I think it’s just stunning, I can’t stop looking at it! ❤️

Cynthia Keith

Looks Lovely Louise... spot on with the colour of skin tones and hair. Such a cutie...

Alina Fazal Juma

This is incredible louise!!! ❤️ Can’t wait for a portrait tutorial! Can already see your wonderful style emerging in this painting!!

This looks beautiful Louise! I want to challenge myself in 2021 and try many new things in painting!

For a subject you feel uncomfortable with, this is wonderful!
