Hi everyone,

I hope you are safe and well and keeping busy.

Here is the Bee Eater tutorial.

All of the files you need to complete the painting are attached below my message here. The reference photo was taken by Claudia Brockmann. I downloaded it from Wildlife Reference Photos. Here is the link if you'd like to download it yourself: https://wildlifereferencephotos.com/media.details.php?mediaID=23378

I've also put the link to the reference photo on the Supplies List.

I'll put this tutorial on the two indexes so you can find it when you are ready.

In other news:

I'm excited that Dom has taken ten weeks off work so he can help me with all the things I do. Yesterday was his last day. I've written him a list of things I need help with so he's going to be busy. He'll probably wish he was back at work. 😂

Have fun, take care and have a wonderful weekend.

Beautiful ❤️❤️

Great, so Dom may get his cameo performance yet 😉

Louise De Masi

Lol.....yes he says he will do a voice over performance for us. 😂

Janet Moulton

Hi Louise, out of all the bird drawings you have on patron which resembles a green cheeked conure. I have a bird I want to paint and I suck at drawing... your tutorials are fantastic so I’d thought I’d give a bird a try but a green cheeked one lol

Lydia Frazier Bosley

The Bee-eater tutorial looks like great fun, I'm putting that on my "to-do-soon!" list. How great that Dom is ready to tackle your honey-do list, keep us posted on the progress! 💜💛💚👨‍🔧👩‍🎨

Louise De Masi

Hi Janet, Lol......I don't think any of them on here are a similar shape to a conure. Can you trace over a photo of one?

Louise De Masi

Thank you Lydia. I will. I'm hoping he will be very useful. 😂

Janet Moulton

I tried but I suck lol... I’ll give it another go

Anna Greene

Wow! 10 weeks off work! I hope it’s very helpful to you.

Beautiful painting! Your tutorials are so very helpful, especially on painting feathers. Thanks so very much!!!

Susan

Thank you louise for all of your hard work xx😘

Eve Eichner

Oh I love the Bee Eater! Cant wait to give it a go.💖 Thank you for all you do for us! Such wonderful tutorials!😘

Christine Ellis

Gosh, Louise, your bee eater is beautiful but I'm struggling with it. For me it's the hardest bird so far. I will call this one a practice and have another go!

Louise De Masi

It's good that you have decided to paint it a second time. I painted this one twice as well.

Susan

Keep going you will do it 🤗

Renee Howard Cassese

Gorgeous painting!! I'm excited to try this one. Glad you are doing well and you have Dom around to help out. I am very grateful that my husband thoroughly supports my writing and my art and makes life a little easier for me so I have more time to paint. It certainly makes me a happy lady! All the best to you and Dom. Stay happy and healthy. And as always, so very appreciative of your excellent teaching skills and all the time you put in to record tutorials.

Renee Howard Cassese

I know the feeling but I'm sure you don't suck. Please keep trying. Practice makes progress, so just keep at it and enjoy the process.

When I pull the brush directly over the pigment I find there's not enough water to make the paint flow onto the paper.

Louise De Masi

Make sure your brush is nice and wet and wipe it over a few times. I do it when my paint has gone hard on the palette. When it has gone hard I have to use a wet brush to reactivate it. I wipe it a few times and squish the paint into the bristles. It's not a quick wipe. It might take me a few times to get the paint on the brush.

Renee Howard Cassese

Now what do you do with that tray of paint when you're finished? Because not likely another picture will have the same colors. I have about 6 ceramic palettes or plates with paint from past paintings.

Louise De Masi

I have plates and palettes piled high. I don't like to throw the paint out so I keep the plate with the paint on it and try and use it up.

Linda

Louise, I do the same thing. Waste not, want not my grandmother used to say and that has stuck to me like a mantra throughout my life.

Judy Breedlove

Thank you, Louise. I enjoyed painting this little Bee Eater. I so much appreciate your attention to detail.

Elena

I can’t wait to give this one a try!
