Hi everyone,

Here is Part 1 of the Apple Blossom tutorial.

Apple Blossoms Part 2 is here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/52355971

We have an apple tree growing and the last time it was in flower I took some photos of the blossoms. I used three different photos when I did this painting. I used the blossoms from one photo, one leaf from another photo and two leaves from a third photo. All three photos are attached below for you.

The tree has been growing for quite a few years now but we are yet to eat an apple from it because the parrots eat the apples before they are ripe. We'll have to throw a net over it.

I hope you enjoy painting them.

All of the files you need are attached below my message here.

Have fun!

Louise

My tutorials are designed to help you on your creative journey. Any painting you create from a tutorial where I use my own reference photo is for personal use only. They can't be sold or entered into an art competition. I write on the Supplies Lists where the photos come from. Permission is not given to paint any of my earlier paintings that are not tutorials because some of them are licensed. Also, a few of my earlier paintings were painted from photographs where I sought the permission of the photographer. The photographer gave me permission to use it, not others.

If I do a tutorial where I use another photographer's photo (eg from Pixabay or Unsplash) that is available for anyone throughout the world to download (copyright free) and use I’m happy for you to sell the paintings you create from the tutorial.

If I do a tutorial and I use a photo that I have paid for and downloaded from the website Wildlife Reference Photos in order for you to sell the painting you create from the tutorial you need to purchase and download the photograph yourself. This is in accordance with the Terms and Services of the Wildlife Reference Photo website.

If you share a finished painting on social media I would really appreciate it if you could link back to my account (be it on Facebook, YouTube or Instagram) and mention that you painted it in one of my tutorials. @louisedemasi

Thank you!

Lori Brya

Is there a substitute for Winsor Blue?

Louise De Masi

Hi Lori, let me know what blues you have and I'll let you know which blue I would use instead.

Lori Brya

Hi Louise, I have Winsor Ultra Marine Blue, Prussian, Cobalt, Phthalo, and Cerulean

Lori Brya

Thank you Louise, much appreciated

Lori Huhn

I learned so much

One Last Midnight

You have this in the "Beginner Tutorials" and "Intermediate Tutorials" sections but part 2 is listed only in the "Intermediate Tutorials" section. Is this correct or was it a mistake?

Louise De Masi

It's a mistake. Thank you for letting me know, I've fixed it. It's an intermediate tutorial.

Nancy Wight

I have joined your patreon account but can’t seem to bring up the payment part. I keep getting Susan Jenkins account instead of yours help

Louise De Masi

Hi Nancy, Dom here. I see you managed to join. Let us know if still need help.

Lisbeth

I like that you have used elements from different photos. A good lesson to learn

Jill Lewis

Fresh and delicate, such beautiful work, Louise. Hoping to give this one a go over the weekend...

Lydia Frazier Bosley

This looks wonderful, Louise, but you are making it very hard to decide which tutorial to do next - so far I have about half a dozen I want to do simultaneously! We will never be able to keep up with you - hence, you need to slow down and give yourself a day (or two) off every week!! (then we I/we just might begin to catch up...) 😵💜💛💚🤪

Milly Ertle

So pretty...my favorite flower, too! Oh Louise, you have done it again! I look forward to each tutorial with great anticipation! Thank you so very much for helping to keep my painting spark alive! Can’t wait to try this one! Have a great weekend ahead!

Louise De Masi

Lol- thank you Lydia. I'm having tomorrow off to babysit little Logan.....I'll stay away from my paints and the computer.......promise! 😝💕

Louise De Masi

Thanks Milly. Have fun and you have a lovely weekend too.

Shirlee Hair

Lovely Louise as always. thank you for choosing subjects so us beginners can improve our skills with minimal frustration. my 2 granddaughters are excited to learn watercolor too, so I will be showing them my Patreon paintings hoping to "hook" then while they are so young. who knows...maybe another budding artist in the family, LOL! Thank you for all you do. You are appreciated.

Christine Baehr

This is lovely! Can’t wait to tackle it! Thank you!

Louise De Masi

Thanks very much Shirlee 💕. I hope they do get hooked. I'm going to try the same thing with my grandson when he's old enough.

Jennifer

I just cannot decide which painting to do next. This is a great way to paint more often and get better and better,

Christine Ellis

Loved painting this one! Thank you Louise x

Carol Ray

Hello Louise; I hope you’re feeling better after having had Covid. I was sorry to hear that you had such a bad time with it. I’m looking forward to doing this tutorial. Off topic now; I follow a Flying Fox rescuer, Batzilla The Bat on FB. This wonderful person is always saying that any netting used should be small-aperture, so the wildlife doesn’t get caught up in it. Small-aperture meaning that anything you can put a finger through is too big. I’m sure you are aware, but if not, please visit her page; she has many cute videos of baby bats she cares for, and they are ADORABLE. Sorry for the long post, but when I read you needed to put nets over your trees, I had to say something. Anyway thanks again, I love your fantastic teaching videos, and I’ve learned so much from you. I appreciate you. Cheers!!!

Louise De Masi

Hi Carol. Thanks so much for that information, it's good to know. We get little tiny bats here (big ones too). We've taken the net down now. The birds still managed to get through so it was a waste of time for us. 💕

Carol Ray

I'm sorry to hear your fruit is still getting eaten by birds, but I have to say I'm relieved you took the nets down. There must be a solution, though...I really hope you are feeling better these days, Louise. Cheers from British Columbia, Canada!
