My tutorials are designed to help you on your creative journey. Any painting you create from a tutorial where I use my own reference photo is for personal use only. They can't be sold or entered into an art competition. I write on the Supplies Lists where the photos come from. Permission is not given to paint any of my earlier paintings that are not tutorials because some of them are licensed. Also, a few of my earlier paintings were painted from photographs where I sought the permission of the photographer. The photographer gave me permission to use it, not others.

If I do a tutorial where I use another photographer's photo (eg from Pixabay or Unsplash) that is available for anyone throughout the world to download (copyright free) and use I’m happy for you to sell the paintings you create from the tutorial.

If I do a tutorial and I use a photo that I have paid for and downloaded from the website Wildlife Reference Photos in order for you to sell the painting you create from the tutorial you need to purchase and download the photograph yourself. This is in accordance with the Terms and Services of the Wildlife Reference Photo website.

If you share a finished painting on social media I would really appreciate it if you could link back to my account (be it on Facebook, YouTube or Instagram) and mention that you painted it in one of my tutorials. @louisedemasi

Thank you!

What substitute could be used for Winsor Blue?

Lori Brya

Thank you Louise, i will definitely check that out! I have Winsor Ultra Marine Blue, Cobalt Blue Prussian Blue

Louise De Masi

I'd use either the Ultramarine Blue or the Cobalt Blue. Thanks Lori.

Lori Brya

Thank you Louise!!

What is the size of your finished painting? I know you give the size of your paper but I wonder how much of it gets trimmed.

Louise De Masi

Hi Sami, I usually cut off around 1.5cm all the way around the edge where the gummed tape was. So my finished paintings are usually 3cm shorter in length and width after I have cut it from the board.

Sami Koenig

sorry! I am learning from your tutorials.

Bev Butler

Just finished this one, more difficult than it looked but I'm quite pleased with the result. When painting wet on wet my paint doesn't seem to spread as far as yours. I'm using arches paper and W&N paints. Could it be because I only use synthetic brushes.

Louise De Masi

Hi Bev, I'd say either your paper wasn't as wet as mine, your paint mixture wasn't as fluid as mine or your brush may not have been as wet as mine when you loaded it with paint. Try to adjust one or all of those things the next time that happens and see if it makes a difference.

Bev Butler

Thanks, I think i need to practice all of that before I follow the next tutorial.

I’ve tried this one several times and really liked my last one hehe.

The apple trees are blooming at the moment, and I decided to give this one a try. Just finished it. The dry on wet technique is great to get the intensity of the colors in. Great tip on evaluating your final painting in b/w view. Thank you Louise!

Nilanjana Bagchi

Hi, Finished this Louise and as usual enjoyed a lot!

Louise De Masi

That's great. I'm glad you enjoyed it Shelly. I received your message about my birthday and Dom through an email but when I clicked on it to respond to you I can't find it among all the other messages on that post. Thank you for the birthday wishes 💕. Dom is pretty much back to normal- thank you! He complains of aches and pains from time to time but he's back working on the house so it can't be too bad.

Just finished this one - looks so simple but so so effective - I have re-arranged the composition to add a bird so now I need to paint the bird without ruining my flowers oops !!
