Hi everyone,

Here is Part 1 of the faded rose tutorial.

Part 2 is here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/54570151

I've included plenty of progress photos of my painting to help you paint yours. All of the files you need to complete this painting are attached below.

Tutorials still to come: Wren, Protea, Barn Owl, Galah and I've just finished painting some pink Lilies this week.

My tutorials are designed to help you on your creative journey. Any painting you create from a tutorial where I use my own reference photo is for personal use only. They can't be sold or entered into an art competition. I write on the Supplies Lists where the photos come from. Permission is not given to paint any of my earlier paintings that are not tutorials because some of them are licensed. Also, a few of my earlier paintings were painted from photographs where I sought the permission of the photographer. The photographer gave me permission to use it, not others.

If I do a tutorial where I use another photographer's photo (eg from Pixabay or Unsplash) that is available for anyone throughout the world to download (copyright free) and use I’m happy for you to sell the paintings you create from the tutorial.

If I do a tutorial and I use a photo that I have paid for and downloaded from the website Wildlife Reference Photos in order for you to sell the painting you create from the tutorial you need to purchase and download the photograph yourself. This is in accordance with the Terms and Services of the Wildlife Reference Photo website.

If you share a finished painting on social media I would really appreciate it if you could link back to my account (be it on Facebook, YouTube or Instagram) and mention that you painted it in one of my tutorials. @louisedemasi

Thank you!

I love roses, I’m starting on it now.

Louise, I got off to a rough start on this one, my Daniel Smith raw sienna is not as yellow. Should I use the transparent yellow oxide or nickle Azo yellow to brighten it up.

ann fuller

The transp. Yellow oxide would give it a slight golden color.

I came up with yellow ochre and a touch of burnt sienna light. Py42+pr101 is the formula that came the closest. And I did it all by myself. I did waisted a lot of paint getting there

Hi Ann, Sorry - I've just woken up. I'm glad you sorted it- well done!

Vee

Thank you dear Louise, this rose is so unusual - just lovely!! And wow, you are so incredibly busy and just keep the tutorials coming - do you ever take a break? Thank you for all your amazing work - it is sincerely appreciated 🤗

Louise De Masi

Thanks so much Vee. I've been slowing down on weekends lately but that's because Dom needs help around the house. We've started re-painting inside. 😝💕

I finally think my hands have recovered enough to try this. I've done some looser style WC since my surgery but I miss doing my detailed botanicals. I love wilted flowers so I'm really excited to try this. The artist Julia Trickey paints a lot of wilted flowers and leaves if you are looking for more inspiration.

I'm sorry to read that you've had to have surgery Renee. I hope you're on the mend now. 💕

Thank you Louise. It's a long haul but everything is moving along well. And I have my painting to keep me happy :)
