Hi everyone,

Here is Part 1 of the Old Pickup Truck tutorial. Special thanks to Diane Morin for the fabulous reference photo. Diane is a patron here on Patreon.

Part 2 is here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/57487049

I used a limited palette of only three colours for this painting. I painted it over a few days so don't rush when you paint it and take plenty of breaks.

All of the files you need are attached below my message here. I look forward to seeing your paintings.

Have fun!

Louise

My tutorials are designed to help you on your creative journey. Any painting you create from a tutorial where I use my own reference photo is for personal use only. They can't be sold or entered into an art competition. I write on the Supplies Lists where the photos come from. Permission is not given to paint any of my earlier paintings that are not tutorials because some of them are licensed. Also, a few of my earlier paintings were painted from photographs where I sought the permission of the photographer. The photographer gave me permission to use it, not others.

If I do a tutorial where I use another photographer's photo (eg from Pixabay or Unsplash) that is available for anyone throughout the world to download (copyright free) and use I’m happy for you to sell the paintings you create from the tutorial.

If I do a tutorial and I use a photo that I have paid for and downloaded from the website Wildlife Reference Photos in order for you to sell the painting you create from the tutorial you need to purchase and download the photograph yourself. This is in accordance with the Terms and Services of the Wildlife Reference Photo website.

If you share a finished painting on social media I would really appreciate it if you could link back to my account (be it on Facebook, YouTube or Instagram) and mention that you painted it in one of my tutorials. @louisedemasi

Thank you!

Denise

Hello Louise Thank you for you lovely clear tutorials I have been following for some time on Youtube, I joined Patreon because I enjoyed your free seal tutorial so much and i thought - Oh if this is what Patreon is like then - what fun Yes i can do this. So i joined quickly and am doing the beginner tutorials. I have downloaded many tutorials in my spare time as i want to have them on my computer ready to paint without the hassle of downloading etc when the painting urge strikes. however i have run into a little dilemma. The line drawings will not print in my latest downloads. i can download and save them but the line drawing will not print. The colour photos print but not the line drawing. it just disappears off my screen whrn i ask it to print. When i was dowloading a strange message came up saying only paid patreons could access. i am a paid member until this time next year. it is only the recent download line prints that wont print the fox, trees, truck. When i tried some earlier downloads i had saved they still print. Is there a limit to download a month or is the clich at my end which could well be the case as i'm waiting for cataract op and may have pressed wrong button somewhere.? Hope you can help. cheers Denise Marshall

Hi Denise, Dom here. If you are able to print an older line drawing then the new ones should work too. There is no download limit that I know of. It must be something at your end. Sorry I can't help more than that.

Janice Moss

My husband had one of these when I met him in 1973. We will be celebrating our 50th Anniversary 5.18.2025 and this will be my Anniversary gift to him.

Linda

Is it just me, I cannot find the files on these two truck tutorials. Tried looking everywhere.

Louise De Masi

Oh gosh Linda- so sorry! I'll upload them now. I forgot. I must have been still half asleep when I posted the video. Thank you! Give me five minutes.

Linda

No problem, better than being my blindness lol.

Louise De Masi

They are there now. Thanks for letting me know Linda.

Lydia Frazier Bosley

So glad you've posted this one, I've been waiting for it! Hope to start it in the next few days, thanks so much, Louise!! 💜💛💚

A Stunning truck Louise 🤩! Something I would never usually consider painting myself as I usually like to do your animals where you draw out their characters. However here you have given the truck such strong line definition coupled with a sublime colour palette giving it a unique personality of its own…I can’t wait to start ! 🤗

Karl Jacob

Absolutely perfect! Please paint more of these old treasures.

Would Daniel Smith's burnt sienna work instead of Winsor & Newton or maybe Daniel Smith's burnt umber?

Louise De Masi

Yes Georgena - Try the Daniel Smith Burnt Sienna or use whatever you have that's similar.

Priscilla Basilio

I work for a doctor who loves restoring old trucks so I think it will be really fun to paint this and gift it to him. Thanks for the tutorial!

What is the copyright policy on this photo which you used here?

Louise De Masi

Diane, a patron provided the photo. Someone else asked if it was ok to sell her painting of this truck. I contacted Diane and she said she was happy for her to sell her painting.
