My tutorials are designed to help you on your creative journey. Any painting you create from a tutorial where I use my own reference photo is for personal use only. They can't be sold or entered into an art competition. I write on the Supplies Lists where the photos come from. Permission is not given to paint any of my earlier paintings that are not tutorials because some of them are licensed. Also, a few of my earlier paintings were painted from photographs where I sought the permission of the photographer. The photographer gave me permission to use it, not others.

If I do a tutorial where I use another photographer's photo (eg from Pixabay or Unsplash) that is available for anyone throughout the world to download (copyright free) and use I’m happy for you to sell the paintings you create from the tutorial.

If I do a tutorial and I use a photo that I have paid for and downloaded from the website Wildlife Reference Photos in order for you to sell the painting you create from the tutorial you need to purchase and download the photograph yourself. This is in accordance with the Terms and Services of the Wildlife Reference Photo website.

If you share a finished painting on social media I would really appreciate it if you could link back to my account (be it on Facebook, YouTube or Instagram) and mention that you painted it in one of my tutorials. @louisedemasi

Thank you!

Love this so much Louise … I am just returning from Europe.. last stop was in Ireland and I have a lovely photo of a boat I’ve taken that I’d like to paint.. I am excited and encouraged after watching the tutorial … thank you

Diane King

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I have been waiting for the boat tutorial! I am descended from a long line of boat builders on the Outer Banks of North Carolina and have been wanting some help with painting water realistically. This tutorial is my incentive to pick up my brushes again. Merry Christmas to you and your family! Diane in Savannah, GA.

Denice LaPorte

Just finished watching both parts of your tutorial, and I am excited to paint this boat. I know that you said that in your colour study you used Antwerp blue, was it substituted everywhere French Ultramarine is used?, and did you mix another colour with it for your shadows?

Louise De Masi

I hope you enjoy painting it. I used Antwerp Blue only on the study - the same way I only used French Ultramarine on the main painting. - No wait!!!.............I think I may have used Paynes Grey on the darkest areas of the study. Sorry I just remembered after looking at it again.

Louise De Masi

Thank you Diane. I hope you have fun wth it. Merry Christmas to you and your family too.

Kathy Wilden

I'm so excited to start on the boat...been waiting for it.

Hanna

I’ll give it a try soon. I’ve painted SO many flowers lately I’m getting tired of them. This is be really cool! Thanks Louise! I follow other artist here and i got spoiled by you: organized, option of outline sizes, photos of different stages of a painting, step by step (really) and close up view of what you are painting. Thumbs up!

Louise De Masi

Thanks so much Hanna. I hope you enjoy painting it.

Lily Anne Baldwin

I am so blessed to have your teaching in my life. Thank you. Happy New Year to you and your family!

Barbara Barrientos

Having trouble with drawing the boat. I have learned to draw shapes I see. My issue is the depth , size and texture . Along with details to what my eye sees. Is there anything you can help me take on this challenge. The angle of the boat, water plus shades. Thank you . I love your work, plus I have learned to be softer with the hand & colors with you. This is only my fifth year attempting to capture feelings to creation.

Louise De Masi

Hi Barbara, my plan is to include some drawing lessons this year on Patreon. Basically, draw what you see- not what you think you see. Look at the photo of the boat more than you look at your drawing as you are drawing. Compare the size and shape of thing as they are next to one another. Draw broad to specific- meaning don't try to add all the detail in too early. Get the major shapes drawn in first.

Louise I absolutely loved this tutorial Some more boat tutorials please!

Dallas Milligan

great tutorial, so much covered, how do we upload our attempts?

Louise De Masi

Thanks Dallas. There is no commuinty page on Patreon where we can do that unfortunately. Patreon took that feature away before I joined which is why I made the Facebook group. Patrons post their paintings there and they have even sorted them into albums for each tutorial. facebook.com/groups/118323255562001
