Oh Hoggan, this is really something special. I love the contrast between the muted shadows and the bright orange sunlit boatman and the birds. This is such a lovely piece!

He looks like he's been on a long journey. I love the birds with the early morning sun on them. It helps balance out the dark mist of the marsh below. And keeping the background elements soft and painted a bit looser keeps the focus on your character. Lovely work 💜

Sincerely, the emotion that pours out of this illustration. There's something so yearning about it that really resonates with me, it might be the composition, how it's clearly divided into light and shadow by the setting sun; the action, how the main subject stands still in the foreground as a flock of birds takes off, free in the background; the expression of our friend here, so calm yet so tired... Maybe it's a combination of all of the above! All that to say I'm really thankful for your work and that you choose to share it with us! Here's to another year full of art to call our favorites 🧡
