Hello everyone! So I recorded my reaction to the first episode of Young Royals today with a plan to post it tomorrow! I watched the English dubbed version (thinking I’d be able to find it online with ease) but each site only had the non-dubbed. So I ended up adding the subtitles myself to the episode, burning them in and adjusting them. How are y’all feeling about that? Would you be okay with the non-dubbed but captioned version of the episode as we watch it together? Please let me know :) Much love!

It's your content, but the English acting is noticeably worse, in my opinion.

I'm so happy to hear this! Love YR! I'd recommend watching in the original Swedish with English subtitles. Based on discussions on social media, most viewers watch it that way. Also, in s3, Edvin does not do the English dub for Wille. Another person does his part.

Totally up to you, but personally I prefer the original Swedish, with English subtitles. I always find dubbing a bit jarring.

I watched the version that was dubbed in English, but now I'd like to rewatch it in the original Swedish with subtitles. So if you decide to do that I can rewatch with you. Actually, I'll rewatch it with you regardless of which version you end up doing. Can't wait!

Do you mean the voice acting? Unless I misunderstand, I think we are talking about the same actual video, just a question between original audio+subtitles OR English-language overdubbed audio. In either case, I think we are looking at the same acting (someone jump in and correct me if I am misunderstanding things!)

Even though the original actors did their own dubbing, it's SO MUCH better in the original Swedish!

Yes, the english delivery is just flat and bland compared to the swedish. Sometimes the nuance is just missing. I suspect its not the talent's fault, I'm betting they had to do it out of context without a lot of direction. Acting is not limited to body movements.

I'm not understanding your post. Young Royals is available on Netflix in its original language with English subtitles. Why would you need to add & burn them in?

The two lead actors at least both speak English fluently and did the dubbing themselves.

Because I’m not able to download the episode directly from Netflix with the subtitles added. I have to use other sites to download the episode and then add it to CapCut for when I edit. My issue was finding the episode outside of Netflix with the dubbed English voice over (which is what I watched.) So my question was centered around us watching the non-dubbed with English captions! Netflix doesn’t allow direct downloading from their site for obvious reasons :) I apologize for the confusion!

One possible reason is that streaming services sometimes use drm features to prevent capture. So while reactors may pay for subscriptions they may have to go elsewhere to source video.

as a swedish person i can say that the non-dubbed version is soooo much better. i cant watch the dubbed version without cringing😭 i feel like its so awkward and loses all the emotion

All the actors did except in S3, Edvin did not do Wille's dub.

Definitely the original Swedish. The dubbed version, even though it's spoken by the same actors, has about 20% of the emotion. You won't enjoy it.

Have only watched the Swedish version with subtitles. Seems more authentic.

It’s true the actors do the English dub but I’m gonna add to the crowd and say something about their actual voices in Swedish is so much better

Most other channels do it in original Swedish with Subtitles and I like it :) thank you for asking Dylan 🫶🏻

Most people prefer watching in Swedish with English subtitles.

The subtitles are definitely better. I really dislike watching things that are dubbed. It never feels genuine xx

I always watch movies or series in original language. Young Royals is a good series, but I hate how the series ends.

Honestly, I’m great with whatever you choose. I did find that I like the Swedish speaking better than the English version a million times over. I just finished it a few days ago and the last episode fucking wrecked me. 😭

Prefer Dubbed it not bad, if I wanted to read the book I would, you miss watching and observations if you have to read everything hense the reason it dubbed, Sorry hope you enjoy cant watch

Prefer the English version, the problem with the subtitles is they are really small in the video and have to focus on them rather than watching your reaction.
