The love is gone, the sweetest dream that we had ever known.

This was definitely a sad part of this Lookback, the passing of Jim Henson is a really tragic event that happened and his legacy withthe Muppets will always live on. Muppets Christmas Carol: Amun all the Muppet movies, I honestly consider this one of the best especially with how they adapt the story of a Christmas Carol and I absolutely agree that this is without a doubt one of if not the best Christmas Carol adaptation ever made. Muppet Treasure Island: Another pretty decent and enjoyable Muppet movie with a fun story solid music numbers and a really great performance from Tim Curry. Muppets Tonight: While I don’t consider this the best Muppet series out there, I do at least appreciate it for helping to introduce Muppets that would become iconic and recognizable characters later on. So it looks like we for the next part of the Lookback, we’re gonna be looking at the Muppet’s time with Sony, and honestly, I actually do consider this the dark era of the Muppet’s where we ended getting some of the worst Muppet projects, but that’s for next time, so the next part should be interesting.

This was sad part to start off at the beginning at the beginning when we Jim Henson passed away but at least the Muppets will be able to move on in terms of the legacy he left behind. Muppets Christmas Carol: For this one, I came in late in watching when I became an adult as I watched this around maybe around covid time or in late 2019, I can’t remember. But given that I am of the Christmas Carol story, I do believe it one of the best adaptations out there thanks to staying loyal to the source while having that Muppet charm and comedy being sprinkled throughout. I would definitely consider as a must watch for those that what their holiday fix every year around Christmas. Muppets Treasure Island: I think i that the second or third Muppet movie I saw as a kid but I do remember it being a fun movie where Muppets collaborated with Tim Curry for a swashbuckling adventure while having that Muppet humor throughout. It was decent thanks to production design, performances including Tim Curry, costumes, effects, and characters as well that it makes it at least stand out amongst the Treasure Island adaptation or least way better than the 1982 Bulgarian animated film. Wouldn’t say it the best Muppet movie in terms of adaption a well beloved book like the Christmas Carol one, but it enjoyable for what it is. Muppets Tonight: I never heard of it or seen it but I do understand where the origins of some notable characters like Bobo the Bear and especially Pepe the Prawn and it looked okay as they try too hard to be edgy that other edgy shows like South Park and The Ren and Stimpy Show has done but I wouldn’t say it a go to watch anyway. The next part will definitely be interesting as the Muppets and The Jim Henson Company tries to get away from the mouse house at Disney and signs a deal with the torch lady at Columbia and Sony Pictures to make this be there exclusively home and for that, I have a very strong opinion to say over at their time at Sony including the next Muppet movie and it gonna be an unpopular opinion that for sure.

Well, it’s finally here. The fifth part of Animation Lookback: The History of the Muppets and, of course, the opening is definitely sad… but damn it, you didn’t have to make it extremely sadder with using the news clips announcing Jim Henson’s death (and Sammy Davis, Jr.’s). Other than the sad passing of Jim Henson, it’s great to see the Muppet crew picking themselves back up after the loss of their boss and continuing his and his characters’ legacy by pushing the innovation of puppetry and the exploration of different genres further with their next feature film adaptations by placing the Muppets in adaptations of English literature, as well as reviving the entertainment aspect of the characters by placing them in another variety show with Muppets Tonight. Although, while the Muppet crew is able to keep the Muppets humor and appeal afloat for awhile post Henson’s death, it’s sadly not going to last long with the ending indicating what’s to come.

Honestly this is maybe my favorite part so far. Handled the emotional stuff quite well.
