This was quite a chaotic week on social media this week. Ever since Musk put up that rate limit on Twitter, everybody's running around in a frenzy and jumping ship into other websites like Bluesky (I'm trying to get in, but I'm waiting for someone to give me an invite), Thread (almost as hated as Twitter, so I'm not touching that), and Mastodon (may consider joining if it becomes a popular choice). On my end, however, I'm mostly been keeping myself busy with other stuff such as my videos and doing a bunch of auditions on the acting side. Basically, I'm just getting by with my life while everything's on fire. Anyways, in lighter news, here's what I did this week.

- Released my review of Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken: I'll confess that a part of me does feel guilty releasing this review. It did not deserve the poor marketing treatment that Universal gave them, like it almost felt like they deliberately sabotaged the movie for it to fail. However, as a critic, I have to be honest with my feelings and...yea, I did not like this film. For me, this was quite a downgrade compared to Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Maybe I'm in the minority on this, and I'll accept that, but this movie feels a bit like a manufactured product trying to make cobble together what executives think people want to see in a kids' film. Sure, it does have some nice aesthetics in the animation similar to Trolls, but I'd personally place this among DreamWorks' weaker films. Maybe it's not fair to have it be surrounded by stronger animated features like Across the Spider-Verse, Elemental and Nimona, but personally, I'm just not a fan of Ruby.

- Worked on an upcoming AniMat's Classic Reviews: With social media's mass hysteria and working on auditions, the main thing that I worked on was one of the upcoming ACRs. I'll admit that this was a big one, especially with the fact that this movie that I reviewed is a musical. However, I will say that I had a lot of fun working on this one, making it both informative and entertaining at the same time. I won't say what it is just yet, but it is a very interesting animated film where there is a lot to analyze what I enjoyed and what made me cringe. This will definitely be a review to look out for, especially with the comedy bits that I have prepared for this one. But you'll have to wait when this gets released because I think I'm more ahead in my schedule than I expected.

- Watching Episodes for the next Series Review: In a way, my major round of making reviews is officially complete...at least with the traditional ones. I do have one more to take care of before the next new releases come out with another Series review. As you're reading this, I'm only at the phase of watching the episodes, and I will need a bit more time to watch them because let's say that, in a way, this has more episodes and a bigger running time than the last one I made that's coming out in a few weeks. Funny enough, this one is well timed because, while I will not say what it is just yet, this is something I recently talked about in one of my recent videos, so I'm already familiar with this subject. We'll see how it is seeing the series with a critical eye, but I will say this will make quite an intriguing review.

So that's the summary of my week. Based on how things are going with the Internet, we're in for a wild summer and I have no idea how everyone's gonna come out in the end, but I got a feeling that things will not be the same by the end of the season, and I think it'll be for the best because this fire needs to subside somehow. So, until next time...

See ya later, dudes!

Can't wait for your upcoming reviews Mat. And yeah, Ruby Gillman had alot going against it from the movie itself to the competition with not just a stacked month of movies but also animated movies as well, like you said, it had to go against Across the Spider-verse, Elemental, Nimona, and even a Black Clover movie on Netflix. June 2023 was a very stacked month for animation, for sure.
