One of Mrs. Brisby’s sons became insane in this horrible sequel that people call The Secret of NIMH 2: Timmy to the Rescue and so did I

Judging by the fact thid made the worst sequels list, I'd pretty willingly say its still a trash film.

Another thing worst than a sequel that doesn’t involve the original filmmakers is a sequel to a film based on a book with an actual sequel and plenty of source material to use from, but the new filmmakers don’t care to use it. Believe it or not, the original book The Secret of NIMH was based on “Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH” has a sequel titled “Rasco and the Rats of NIMH”. I don’t know what the premise was of that book, but I can guess it’s certainly BETTER than the made up premise this sequel used! As for the next Classic Review, I have no idea what it could be, but considering how you describe it as an animated film based on a story we’ve heard over and over again and takes place in the animal kingdom along with the hint in your update blog that it’s celebrating its milestone anniversary this year, I can only guess it’s The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride, a MUCH BETTER direct-to-video to a highly beloved animated film that respects the themes and characters of the original film. So if my guess is correct, it’ll certainly be an upgrade when going from this to another animated film.

I am so sorry you had to suffer through this again. I absolutely hate this movie, it’s nothing but a terrible direct to video sequel and an insult the original. The story is absolutely terrible, the animation is bad even by direct to video standards, the characters are awful, and the songs are absolutely terrible, really I think the only good thing about this movie is Eric Idle as Martin at least it’s somewhat entertaining at least he’s having fun with how over the top he is. Overall this is nothing but a terrible and worthless sequel that is nothing but an insult to the original Secret of NIMH. I’m honestly not sure what the next classic review is going to be but it should be interesting.

I know that you aren't a big fan of this movie. I am sorry you had to watch it. And after hearing your commentary about the next Classic Review and hearing the music in the background, I guess we are watching Disney's Robin Hood, HOORAY!!!

Ugh yeah I remember this movie all right, even as a kid who didn't see the original, this film is even terrible to newcomer... and especially kids! Seriously the lack of continuity makes the film hard to sit though I even thought Tom and Jerry's movie was better then this. I did, Really!

Alan Oliva

Alright Robin Hood! A Real Classic. Oh Please 🙏 tell me you'll do that joke of the fake Title: Robin Hood... With Animals it's so anticlimactic.

I did finally watched this movie through Twitch from SaberSpark and yeah this movie sucked. I mean I have watched through the AniMat Watches in the edited version to get some context but now that I seen it through entirely, it a crappy film. Nothing is ever good from the script, story, animation, characters, tone, or songs as they are the worst part of it where the original never did any songs in the first place. What really sucked that dragged some well known actors into this not just Eric Idle and Dom DeLuise, this includes Starfire and Princess Bubblegum herself Hynden Walch although this was long before she became recognizable and famous, the kid who played Arnold from Hey Arnold, and even Daniel LaRusso himself Ralph Macchio as Timmy for this direct to home media sequel. As a Karate Kid and Cobra Kai fan, I’m shocked that Macchio said yes to be involved in this movie. Everything looked like a complete recipe for disaster from the very beginning after the main title shows up so I don’t think we should be visiting anytime soon. I’ll be curious about his reaction to the Disney’s Robin Hood movie given that well despite have some moments, it not one of their best film they ever done but I’ll be curious to see how the review turn out.

Just to add insult to injury, the book The Secret of NIMH was based on “Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH” has a sequel titled “Rasco and the Rats of NIMH” that the filmmakers behind Timmy to the Rescue decided not to use. I don’t know the premise of “Rasco and the Rats of NIMH”, but I’m sure it’s MILES BETTER than the premise used in Timmy to the Rescue!

Hunter O'Laughlin

What makes Timmy to the Rescue even more insulting is that the book The Secret of NIMH was based on “Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH” has a sequel called “Rasco and the Rats of NIMH” that the filmmakers of Timmy to the Rescue decided not to use even though it would’ve been a better basis to create the sequel than what they came up with.

Had to rewatch the ending and yup the whistle is unmistakable. Disney’s Robin Hood is next. And jeez that must have been a painful experience to watch that movie again. We can only hope you get to finally review the original film soon.

Looking forward to your review of Robin Hood!
