I'm happy to report that I'm almost back to normal and that I can live the rest of my life without needing to worry about any more throat infections. While I'm not fully healed and there is a small amount of swelling that makes it hurt to sneeze, my energy is back so that I can go and resume my life to where it was before the surgery. It'a a major progress where all that's left is small enough where I can continue living my life without worrying about it and let it disappear over time. With that said, here's what I got for this week with videos.
- Released my review of The Monkey King (2023): This was the first video I fully produced post-surgery, and the one that really helped me to get my groove back for me to get back to work. In a way, it came in at a conveniently great time where I was slowly gathering my energy again and was more motivation to do more than I ever did these past few weeks. I even went a little extra with this review to be sure I go more in depth and get myself a bit more familiar with Journey to the West and the character of Sun Wukong. With that said...this movie kinda sucks. Sure, the animation's pretty cool and the action scenes can be fun at times, but the rest of this movie is cringe. It's pretty much if you take the legend of Sun Wukong and turn it into a bland western animated kids' flick. Normally, this would be easily forgettable and I'd move on from this soon after I finish the review, but what makes this film uniquely frustrating is that I ask myself "Why am I watching this when there are many other adaptations that are better than this?" There are plenty of versions of the story and the character worth seeing, but this is not one of them.
- Catching up on What I Missed: Admittedly, I didn't really do a lot of work in terms of producing videos, but the main thing was catching up on everything this month so that I could be up to date with all of my work across my different platforms. I brought back the podcast after delaying it a couple of weeks and shared my story of what I went through with my tonsillectomy, I made a couple of Animation Facts Tiktok videos because I was due to refill the backups so that they can be ready for release in the next few weeks, and I've done some Patreon duties such as this month's Discord chat and an art commission (that you can see below). This doesn't include other aspects outside of video making that I'm catching up on like socializing with friends and family, resuming auditions, and doing my regular exercises again. In a way, this week was about making sure I can be back to normal than really focusing on a specific project. For the first time this month, I feel like my old self again and it's great to be back!
- Started Editing the next History Video: Now with my energy back, I can finally resume the long-awaited History video that I had set to the side. I thought that I'd be able to to work on the editing of this after I did all the filming, but I guess I underestimated the struggle of going through an operation like that and it was one of the most grueling things that my mouth ever endured where editing or even sitting on my computer was too much to ask. However, with everything out of the way and I'm up to speed with whatever work, I can finally get back to set my focus on creating my next big video. Of course, I'll be needing some time to get this done, but if all goes well, then I should have this ready by next month.
So that's been my week where I think I could say that everything, if not, almost everything is back to where it use to be and I can finally get back to doing the things I love. It took quite a long time to get there, but I'm finally happy to finally get through the challenges of the post-surgery phase and now I can return to my life with the benefits of having no more problematic tonsils. I still got a strong dose of motivation in me now, so I'll be putting that into good use. So, until next time...
See ya later, dudes!
