Amongst all of Disney’s CEOs in their history, Bob Chapek is arguably the worst of them all and did so much damage to the company in just a few years. But why did Disney hire Bob Chapek in the first place if he was proven to be so unqualified for the job? It’s time to look at a small, yet chaotic part of Disney’s history where they were left in the hands of the worst CEO they’ve ever had.

Its mighty impressive to see someone screw up harder then Eisner. But at least he had a honeymoon period where he did good things and he was around for multiple decades. Bad Bob did little good, much worse, and stuck around for a very short period of time.

Looking forward to checking this out in a bit. But yeah, it will be awhile for the Walt Disney Company to recover from the Bob Chapek arc. And unfortunately I don’t believe it will be any time soon, given that Bob Iger, though he isn’t Chapek, is reminding us that he’s still a CEO that only thinks about the money, money, money.

I know people will say something like "Isn't Ron Miller the worst Disney CEO?", or "What about Michael Eisner?" However, both Miller and Eisner did things that ultimately helped Disney in the long run. Miller oversaw the creation of both Disney Channel and Touchstone Pictures, while Eisner brought in the Disney Renaissance before things went downhill. Unfortunately, Chapek's tenure was one marred by unfortunate circumstance; COVID-19 instigated the Black Widow lawsuit and the Disney+-exclusive Pixar releases, and his response to DeSantis's new bill and the ensuing fallout was rather chilly, to say the least. Not to mention no one thought Chapek would be the next head at Disney, if not wanted him to. You know you didn't do well when the masses at D23 booed you when you make your entrance. Ultimately, it's no surprise that Chapek was ousted just less than three years after taking Iger's job. And while the returning Iger currently has his only problems with the dual strikes, he's still determined to right the course and not only bring Disney back to its usual self, but make it better than before. And there are certainly signs that Disney's recovering. Elemental was the theatrical success Pixar needed, with nearly $500 million at the box office. And "quality over quantity" is now being prioritized throughout the studios, after the opposite caused the MCU to have its reputation plummet (Eternals, Quantumania and Secret Invasion gaining Rotten status is proof of that). I think that Disney can and will learn from the Chapek era, and I'm certain that Iger won't make the same mistake twice. And regardless of what the future holds, it's going to be exciting as to where Disney heads next. (To his credit, though, Chapek acknowledged that his tenure was rather hellish. So he seems to agree with everyone here.)

Definitely a great comeback for History videos and was a very interesting topic and yes, we can all agree Bob Chapek definitely is the worst Disney CEO of all time. I think his worst crime was definitely relegating Pixar’s films Luca and Turning Red to Disney+ and negatively instilling the mindset to the public that all Pixar’s new films were more worth seeing on Disney+ than the big screen.

This was definitely a fantastic editorial video. I am honestly in agreement with everyone when I say that Bob Chapek is without a doubt the worst CEO that Disney has ever had, even more so than Michael Eisner during his second half as CEO, I was honestly one of those people who was willing to give Chapek a fair shot but I was wrong, I can honestly give him a little bit of a pass because he came in as CEO when the pandemic had taken over, like putting some of their movies onto Disney+, but it still doesn’t change the fact that he handled Disney so poorly to the point where he damaged the studios reputation, what he did with Black Widow and the whole Scarlet Johansson controversy, how he handled the “Don’t Say Gay” Bill and continued to allow Disney to be attacked by the anti woke crowd, increasing the prices at the Disney Parks, and treating a lot of their animated films badly. So when Bob Iger came back as CEO in November 2022, it was definitely nice to hear, and he was at least trying to fix the damage that Chapek did to the company, including finally trying to sue Ron Desantis for all his attacks on Disney. However if I’m completely honest, I’m really not sure I like the idea of having Bob Iger back, while I do think he’s done great things for the company like help them recover from the damage Michael Eisner did to the company, as well as the acquisition of other properties, like Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and 21st Century Fox, he’s also done some really bad and stupid things, especially recently with how he’s been handling the strikes from both writers and actors and the comments he’s made on them and how a lot of that good will people have him has quickly been thrown out the window and Iger isn’t really looked highly upon as a CEO like he once was. But it still doesn’t change the fact that Bob Chapek is by far the worst CEO the Walt Disney Company has even had, honestly the only CEO I would say that is even worse than him is David Zaslav of Warner Bros Discovery, but that’s a story for another day.

Glad that you’re back to making videos again after your tonsil surgery by making a history about the worst Disney CEO ever, Bob Chapek. What else can I say about this guy? From the theme parks with Genie+ pass, mishandling of speaking against the Don’t Say Gay Bill by Ron DeSantis, to even hurting their movies like Pixar films, simultaneously release of some films like Cruella and Jungle Cruise that resulted Scarlett Johansson to sue them after what happened with Black Widow. He’s the most careless CEO that ever come out from Disney even though some choice were due to the pandemic, but all he cares about is money and nothing else. I’m glad that he’s gone but that doesn’t mean Bob Iger gets a pass with his current mistakes right now like handling the ongoing strike right now despite trying to fix what Chapek has cause. It made Michael Eisner time during the second half as CEO looked like it not bad as Chapek’s reign as CEO. Hope the company doesn’t make a mistake again of picking the right CEO that actually cares about creativity next time.

Even with Iger back in charge, I think Disney is in for a rough few years. Not just from cleaning Chapek's messes but also the following: Starting on January 1st 2024, slowly losing exclusive access to their oldest library (Starting with Steamboat Willie) The still going on dual writer and actor strikes and the after effects once they do end The possible inability to make any new major acquisitions both from their massive debt and the loss of political goodwill on both sides (Democrats unlikely to support any new buyouts because of Disney's size, while the Republicans just hate Disney period) Disney's achilles heel of the video game market (Ironic because of Tron and Wreck it Ralph) Having a back catalog if films and IPs that aren't compatible with the Disney brand (Mostly from Fox) Overreliance on their current IPs (Especially Marvel and Star Wars) rather than investing in brand new IPs And that's just what I think, let alone what could or might happen.
