This is the best date ever! Kevin managed to reserve a table for us on the restaurant’s outdoor deck, so we have a clear view of the pure-white sand beach and the sparkling blue ocean. It’s a beautiful day, not too hot with a gentle ocean breeze keeping things nice and cool.

Whatever that moment was in the car earlier, it’s gone now that we’re surrounded by dozens of people, and we go through the meal with the same easy laughter and chatter that we’ve always had. You would think that it would be weird, being on a date with my best friend, but him reaching out to touch my hand every so often or the way his foot keeps brushing against mine just feels so natural. And don’t get me wrong, I’ve been on plenty of dates with women before, but none of them had this type of ease to it. None of them make me feel as comfortable as Kevin does.

“So, did you enjoy the meal?” Kevin asks, looking hopeful while we wait for our dessert.

I smile wide, unable to keep the enthusiasm out of my voice. “Dude, that was fucking amazing! It was even better than I imagined. This is officially my new favorite restaurant. Thank you so much for bringing me here!”

He beams at me, clearly pleased with himself. “Of course, I’d do anything for you.”

My heart stutters, and despite how normal everything felt just a second ago, that tension from the car is back. The air feels thick even though there’s a breeze blowing against my face. I pick up my mimosa and take a swig, trying to swallow around the baseball that’s stuck in my throat.

“I…”

Kevin laughs softly and takes my free hand back into his, our fingers intertwining with ease. “Do you remember that time when we were sixteen, and we snuck into the chemistry lab? I had dared you that you couldn’t figure out how to make that chemical we saw on Breaking Bad.”

I grin, the memory coming back to me vividly like it were yesterday. “Yeah, we were too stupid to realize that we shouldn’t be learning chemistry from a TV show about drug dealers. And then Mrs. Wallowitz came in right as the beaker overflowed and burned a hole through the table!”

We both laugh loudly at that, drawing some glares from the other couples around us. I frown, remembering what happened after our teacher caught us. “You took the blame for that even though I was the one who mixed the wrong chemicals.”

Kevin chuckles and nods his head. “Yeah, because you had taken the blame for me the week before when I accidentally flicked pudding at the assistant principal, when I was actually aiming for Tommy.” He grins widely. “I didn’t want you getting into trouble with your parents again, so I did what I had to.”

I open my mouth to tell him we did that all the time, taking each other’s hits, watching each other’s backs, both on and off the court, but the server interrupts us with the triple-chocolate cake we ordered.

###

After we devoured the chocolate cake, Kevin told me he wanted to walk on the beach. So we ditched our shirts and shoes in his car, and now we’re walking hand in hand by the water, the wet sand sticking to the bottom of my feet and then washing away each time the cold water rushes over our ankles. There are couples like us everywhere, both gay and straight, walking while holding hands, swimming, or tanning on beach towels. No one even pays attention to us holding hands.

Seagulls swoop overhead, occasionally diving to grab at the snacks of unsuspecting beach-goers. A flock of them plummet suddenly, aiming for the ocean like heat-seeking missiles when I notice they’re targeting a man floating on a large tube eating a bag of chips. The guy gets startled, and I think one gull bites at his shoulder, so the bag flies into the air, throwing the chips into the ocean.

I cackle at the poor guy’s misfortune, but then stiffen when Kevin stands behind me and wraps his arms around my waist, his chin resting on my shoulder. Even though the sun is shining brightly, it pales in comparison to the warmth of his bare chest against my back.

He hums softly against my cheek; the vibrations going straight to my dick, and I melt into him. “I hope you had fun today,” he whispers, fingers slipping just underneath the waistband of my underwear.

I groan and rut back into him. He’s hard as a rock, and his dick nestles between my cheeks, separated by too many layers of clothing. “Kev,” I groan again, moving my hips in a desperate attempt to seek more friction. “We can’t do this.”

He smiles against my face, a hint of stubble scratching my cheek. “What? You give up already?”

I spin around in his arms and kiss him hard, not caring who might see us—we’re past the point of that, anyway. One hand flies to the back of his head while the other squeezes his ass, our hard cocks painfully trapped between us. When I pull away, we’re both flushed and panting. “No, I don’t give up,” I say, “I just don’t want us to get arrested for public indecency.”

He arches a brow. “Public indecency?”

I pull him in for another kiss and then step back, subtly adjusting my tented chinos. “Yes, public indecency. If we keep going like this, I’m gonna rip your pants off right here in front of everyone, drop to my knees, and give you the best blowjob you’ve ever gotten.”

His eyes darken with lust, and he grabs my hand and starts pulling me towards the parking lot. He growls as I struggle to keep up with his pace on the shifting sand. “Let’s go. I need to get you naked.”
