My friend you are too hard on yourself. Had a friend that once said ‘only compare yourself to yourself’. You should be proud of yourself in what you accomplish. Your content is great - we all like to hear your voice. Everything will get better.

OMG, we have so many more things in common, cause I too have that guilty-like pleasure of watching fights/arguments on YouTube and some of which are hilariously funny I'm so ashamed to admit that LOL. And I also have that social anxiety, the fear of being embarrassed/judged by people in public (even once had a public meltdown, believing I was being laughed at and I wasn't). I had an embarrassing slip & fall (butt facing the air, underwear partially revealed) at a Culver's about a month and these girls were laughing hysterically as they were leaving out and I took it as them laughing AT me and of course, I had a meltdown afterwards cause I felt embarrassed & ashamed. It took me back to those days of being laughed/bullied at by the kids at school and that's one of the reasons WHY I too, to this day, tend to shut down, not engaging with people and when it came to meeting new people, I'd shut down and disappear into the background (one time, in high school, there was a new student and we were about to go up to lunch as I started walking and I see the new guy walking behind me, prompting me to start walking faster and as soon as I turned the corner, I literally started RUNNING....that was my social anxiety/fear getting the better of me). Not wanting to hear negative things about yourself, that's me too and for the longest, I always viewed any form of criticism as bullying/negative talk and I of course, would get angry and lash out. Therapy will definitely help out a whole lot cause, I've been going to therapy for a decade now cause I've had DECADES of emotional distress/build-up and I felt the walls closing in on me. Plus, the therapist who's been counseling me, he's a wonderful guy and he is not just a therapist but he's also my friend, we've build a close-knit relationship and I actually feel safe with him. Definitely do the therapy, it WILL help and bring you a lot of comfort too

Nothing wrong with waiting until you're ready to meet someone. Although I can completely relate to maybe waiting a little too long to ask to meet someone in person if I really like them but have anxiety about how it will go or if they have the best of intentions. I don't really have any gay bars here either but thinking of traveling a little to Asheville, NC or Atlanta area and seeing what happens. I typically don't go to bars, and really don't drink much at all either - i wouldn't even know how to order a drink there really lol - i've tried a few different types of alcoholic beverages and don't really have a favorite yet, but I'm definitely trying to be more social as well nowadays. It sounds like you at least have a plan on bettering the handling of social anxiety or bettering yourself in that way, and I'm glad to hear someone else feel similar to how I'm feeling about becoming more active/social. No need to give up the things you love doing already, but I'm learning to incorporate more things that challenge my anxiety and just seeing what happens and working on handling that balance. Glad to hear about your experience so far, and hoping the therapy goes well!
