I just thought of a fun idea for a reaction! 👀 BTS have some Halloween dance practices on the BANGTANTV channel, and they are SO entertaining 😂 1. Go Go (Halloween ver.) probably the most fun one! 2. Their first album came in 2013 with title No More Dreams. One album once a week and one ROB and one suchwita would be perfect for now!! Please! BTS only makes bangers but its very imp to listen to songs starting from their debut, you'll know their progress. RM, suga and JHope made songs from their debut, then other members joined in Wings era(BTS releases albums in eras or triologies).

I always feel bad for skipping the ptd and my universe reactions but…out of allll the bts tracks, it’s always the “safe” English pop songs that get reaction vids at first despite all the constant recommendations. lol. And I actually like butter/dynamite just fine too. But seeing any of these four get chosen is like watching someone go for the plain kids’ chicken nuggets sitting in the corner of a decked out Korean buffet.

Blood, sweat and tears is one of my favourite bts songs to talk about. The album it comes from is WINGS, this MV and the album is based on the book Demian by Hermann Hesse. The spoken part by Namjoon is actually an extract taken from the book, and there’s multiple more extracts spoken in the other WINGS short films, throughout the album each member represents a period of life that the main character Emil Sinclair lived. It’s a story of boyhood, morality, temptation, the contrast of good and evil, and one’s own self discovery. In this MV, Jin ultimately represents Emil Sinclair, at the beginning, Jin is facing a painting, one half is light, one half is dark, and there is a door either side, a white door and a black door, but Jin is in the middle, highlighting Emil not knowing which side he should take, Jin kissing of the statue is a direct parallel to Emil in the book, when he kisses Demian/the depiction of Demian, and gives into the temptation of evil, but ultimately realises that you have to accept both the good and evil to reach self actualisation. The German quote near Jin translates to “You must have chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star” and Taehyung represents Abraxas in the story, the tempter, a fallen angel, that encompasses both the good and the evil and the transition into the innocence of childhood into adulthood, which Jin/emil gives into. Abraxas represents those who break away from societal expectations, and how it’s seen as a “mark of shame” turned into individuality. There’s so many more details to this MV and era, so I definitely recommend you guys react to the whole album, the short films and Xcelestes explanation video of this concept in the album when you get the chance. It’s genius! (Additionally: this era also follows on from their own storyline , the BTS universe/hyyh, where each member has their own character and storyline along with a group storyline)

blood sweat & tears was my first comeback after getting into them in august of 2016. i’ll always remember the day i was on my way to church (i’m not even religious like that but i’d go with my mom when she asked) and i got the notification that the boy meets evil comeback trailer dropped (as a jhope bias mind you when he was the one who performed that comeback trailer). i watched it right before going in and it’s all i could think about when i was there 💀

The dance they're doing in PTD is sign language! They wanted to make the song universal. The cowboy outfit that Jimin was wearing in the beginning also went viral and was used for the Barbie movie. Also Cannon Jungkook cut his own hair for the PTD mv lol. The MV for Life Goes On was filmed in their actual dorm that all 7 of them lived in and was directed by Jungkook. The reason Tae was looking at the stadium is because their Map of the Soul 7 tour that was supposed to start that April got cancelled due to COVID so they never got to preform everything they prepared. It took ON (the title track of MOTS 7) 2 years after release to be preformed at an in person concert for a live audience which was in LA.

I get some ppl dont like when ppl are introduced to bts discography with ptd because usually those ppl end up thinking that is the genre of bts but that doesnt mean we should be talking bad abt a song that was released to lift everyone's spirit during a hard time and it succeeded. The lead up to blood sweat and tear was insane, they dropped short films prior that all told a story. It was insane time! A lot of the MVs back in the day are tied into a bigger story. The “BTS Universe”. The MVs were all connected! It was like a puzzle and so fun to watch and research everything!

A quick bit of context before analyzing “Blood Sweat & Tears” without getting into spoilers: BST is part of BTS’s larger fictional universe, but the MV is also heavily inspired by Hermann Hesse’s novel Demian. The main idea is growing up, losing innocence, temptation, and confronting the darker parts of yourself. The imagery is therefore very intentional. The religious references, angels, statues, wings, classical paintings and sculptures all connect to the idea of falling from innocence and entering adulthood. The “temptation” in the song isn’t necessarily meant to be interpreted literally as something demonic — it can represent desire, inner conflict, curiosity, and the things that attract us even when we know they might hurt us. Demian is especially important because it challenges the simple idea that people are either “good” or “evil.” Growing up means recognizing that both sides can exist within the same person. So when watching the MV, I’d pay attention to the contrast between innocence and temptation, beauty and danger, heaven and falling, and desire and suffering. And don’t worry about knowing the entire BTS lore to understand BST! The MV works perfectly on a symbolic level by itself, while the deeper connections become clearer if you explore the story afterward.

If you guys want to react to the actual BU universe, I’d really recommend following the storyline in chronological order. That way you can also try to make your own theories and guesses along the way, which honestly makes the whole experience much more fun. It’s basically impossible to understand absolutely everything from the MVs alone, because the story is spread across different formats. you’d need to read the books/webtoon and even play the game to get the complete picture. But you can definitely understand the general storyline just by following the MVs in order. Then, after you’ve watched them and come up with your own theories, you can watch a lore summary/explanation to fill in all the details you missed. I think that would make for a much more fun reaction than having everything explained beforehand!

I only brought up the poll because thats how the Gek's figure out what songs their viewers are interested in and its true that PTD didn't receive any votes in that poll. Again, objectively and personally I think PTD is a good song! But they also didn't write it or have a lot of involvement in it's creative development, therefore we're expressing our hope for the Geks to react to more of BTS's discography that they personally wrote and that are representative of their full depth of artistry.

I’ve noticed that half of the armys is addicted to misery and whining, which is why they panic whenever someone listens to "PTD." Not confirmed, but Army thinks BTS doesn't like Permission to dance. They always make a face when it comes up in DJ random song. There is a 12 minute documentary video of Coldplay x BTS collab, it explains their warm relationship, worth watching. Blood Sweat & Tears is inspired by book Demian, about growing up and temptations of adulthood. Video has a lot of mythical and Biblical references. All art work is related to angels, temptations (Icarus's story) and sealing it with a Kiss with a Devil. And showing that Tae was the tempter all along. There are statues of angels and demons in the museum. Museum is a set.

Wow, it would be amazing if they reacted to "Run, Save Me, I Need You." BTS's "BU," which is the story told through their videos, is fantastic. As a fun fact, in the song "Permission to Dance," they use three sign language symbols during the dance which mean "fun," "dance," and "peace." Regarding "Life Goes On," the video was directed by Jungkook and filmed in the boys' dorms at that time. The song "Blood, Sweat & Tears" is based on the novel "Demian" by Herman Hasse, and they used it to address the temptations young people face at that age, the difference between good and evil. Well, it's a bit deeper than I'm explaining, but it's so cool!!

The COVID-era songs are crazy because the production was so limited lol. I'll admit that PTD is lower on my list (lol sorry) but it is all good vibes. It took me a while to like BST in terms of sound, but the meaning behind it (and the entire album) is a crazy deep cut into psychology and psychological novels lol. I love how y'all picked up the one single flaw my queen blood sweat and tears has and that is jin's lines. He literally has just 1 single line in the entire song and same goes for not today. But I'm happy that they changed the line distribution for not today for the arirang tour. Also I find it extremely funny how your song tastes are completely opposite of general army consensus because a lot of armys do not like the English trio by bts(dynamite, butter and permission to dance) but blood sweat and tears is like a fan favourite. It's THE iconic song that made them one of the top groups in korea at the time, made them nominated for billboard, and fucking ended some other group's careers. Like it's THAT song. And life goes on is an iconic song because it's the first non-english song to debut at no. 1 on billboard hot 100. My universe is a really fun song but I like it better live. Lastly I wish you listened to our suggestions of reacting to songs that you're gonna hear in the upcoming rise of bangtan episodes because their music videos are really important. I Need U is the song that kept the group going. It was their last attempt after dark and wild's failure and if this failed too, they would've disbanded then. It's the song that gave them their first music show win. It's mv literally shocked the entire industry. But let's hope you're able to react to it before reacting to the rise of bangtan.

For example, a lot of 4th generation group’s like “aespa”, who have a futuristic concept, but their songs are really good, honestly. BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS (BST): There are a lot of comments so I am not sure if anyone has mentioned this but this MV and song were heavily inspired by the novel Damien (author is Hermann Hesse). FUN FACT: The sales of this book skyrocketed when BST and WINGS (which is the album BST is from) came out and the boys explained the connection MY UNIVERSE: This was a project that took place during COVID and got BTS and Coldplay to FINALLY MEET for the first time when Chris went to SK. FUN FACT: There is a whole documentary about this meeting which I think you should react to. It's funny because even thought they were holograms in the MV, they actually met in person to make this happen. We love Coldplay in the fandom 💜. PERMISSOIN TO DANCE (PTD): There are so many stories from this particular era, which are you correctly pointed out is from the Butter Era (tho this is also the period that had the boys kinda question "where are we going headed to now? ..." so kinda deep but you'll understand when you watch the FESTA 2022 DINNER ...). FUN FACT: Elton John actually gave them a shout out and Ryan Goslin wore the same outfit as Jimin when he filmed Barbie and there were a few interaction with Jimin which also involved Jimin receiving a guitar from Ryan 😂 LIFE GOES ON (LGO): Where Dynamite was a fun way to face the pandemic, LGO was kinda the "real" way the boys were going about it. They missed performing, they missed ARMY, they missed life, but life did go on regardless of how they felt. FUN FACT: This video was directed by Jungkook, and basically marked his OFFICIAL directorial debut 😎 (at some point we will hopefully see you react to his Golden Closet Videos). was NOT expecting to shed tears to permission to dance today, but here we are😭 for reference, i am a covid army and was introduced to bts and their music during lock down, and i’ve been hooked ever since. i was able to see them during their permission to dance tour in las vegas in 2022, and the last song they performed was..you guessed it..permission to dance! so now this song has the hilarious ability to make me sob on command, which i find so ironic given its uplifting vibes and message. thanks for transporting me back to that time geks! always grateful for the reactions🫶🏻

Wings is a masterpiece album based on the 1919 novel Demian by Hermann Hesse, which is a coming-of-age story about a young man name Emil Sinclair, told utilizing Jungian psychology and German Swiss existentialism. The whole album, and this song, are about growing up. A key factor in the process of growing up is leaving the innocence of childhood behind. The story is about how in order to grow up, one must accept that there is darkness in the world, and within oneself and growing up means embracing that as part of yourself and the world. It's the loss of innocence. This doesn't make us, or the world, evil, but it can be seen that way to one who lacks the ability to understand and accept that both ourselves and the world are made up of a balance of light and dark. Without one, the other is meaningless. Jin is the main character, like Emil, struggling to resist the darkness within himself. The other members are paired off in sets of two, with one older member as a mentor/tempter or gatekeeper and one younger member as a mentee. Rather than a struggle between good and evil, which I feel is an oversimplification, this song and album really are depicting a struggle between innocence and worldliness, ignorance and knowledge. It is the struggle of growing up that you have your heart broken by the darkness in the world and within yourself, but you also find greater depths of love, hope and creative expression in the world and in yourself in the process. You have to embrace the complexities of the world and yourself. There are many symbols in the MV of innocence (sling shot, swing, lollipop, bicycle, balloon, etc) and also of ignorance vs the temptations of knowledge (blindfold, being tied, absinthe, smoke, apples, a book, Icarus, etc) as well as a dichotomy of choice illustrated in things like the black and white doorways as well as art and statuary depicting heroes and monsters, purity and flaw. There are references to Eden, Fallen Angels and Icarus, all of which are stories about the seeking of knowledge leading to a fall from innocence. There is a seduction taking place here, which is why the MV and the choreography are sexy and seductive. It is the guys themselves who are being seduced by the shadows of the world and by their own shadows. In the end, Jin realizes he has to grow up and he chooses to self-actualize and leave childhood behind by embracing the statue of Abraxas, the god of both light and darkness, a god of balance. Abraxas is a figure from the novel Demian, a Greek Gnostic Archon whose origins lie shrouded in history but perhaps spring from ancient Egypt. The kiss also echoes a scene in Demian, where Emil Sinclair receives a symbolic kiss from his complex mentor and tempter figure, Demian, just before Demian vanishes, revealing himself to have never truly existed but to have been a part of Emil himself. Given that, Abraxis in the MV represents Jin himself in a state of balance of light and dark, just as Demian was really Sinclair all along. Rather than choose between good and evil, Jin embraces his own duality in embracing Abraxis and chooses to self-actualize into adulthood. He chooses to grow up and let go of his childish innocence and ignorance. Jin's choice is also seen in him letting go of the balloon symbolizing childhood while RM recites a quote from Demian. The organ music Suga plays is also referenced from Demian. Once Jin makes this choice, we see colors bursting forth as his world becomes more complex and he becomes capable of more creative expression through the richness of his inner world and perceptions. Colors burst forth as creativity is unleashed. Others also choose to embrace their own colors and knowledge and to leave childhood and the innocence of ignorance behind. V leaps/falls as an angel and loses his wings, Jimin takes off his blindfold, Jungkook falls as Icarus when he is shown suspended in air with feathers floating around him and he is seen sprawled on the bed in the room with the green smoke. At the end, above the mirror we see a quote in German by existential philosopher Nietzsche which translates as: "One must have chaos within oneself to give birth to the dancing star" Meaning one must embrace the chaos, the duality within, to become a fully realized person who is capable of creation, of art and of full reason. The constant struggle within to keep that balance is the friction that gives rise to the spark of creative inspiration, the fire in the soul. Jin reflects (literally in the mirror) on his choice, and he begins to hatch like an egg as the shell of his childhood falls away and his new self prepares to be born. He looks pensive because it is melancholy to leave childhood behind, but necessary in order to grow up. This "world egg" is also a theme in Demian. BTS are world renowned for the depth and complexity of their lyricism and storytelling and their complex multi-lingual word play. For instance, it is not a coincidence that the refrain of "I want more more more more" in Korean sounds like "money, money, money" in English. They are talking about the temptations of the wider adult world after all. The supernatural mystery story which runs through BTS work called the Bangtan Universe / BU, which is told in clues given in various multi-media such as: lyrics, MV visuals, short films, their webtoons, books, album notes, their mobile game BTS World and more, is also reflected in the BS&T MV. There is even a KDrama based on the BU now called Begins ≠ Youth.
