Thanks for the update, Malu. Also, The Banner Saga hype!

TM599

Great news Malu, good to hear about it all! Looking forward to the mastered Moon 😀 <3

I'd like to know how you records videos of you singing where no headphones or microphone are visible (if I remember correctly). And I'd like to know how your general recording setup is (and why you did it that way): passthrough or no passthrough? Reverb in the passthrough? etc.

Tomas Almlöf

That's awesome that you can't stop writing! :) Keep up the good work! :) Writing is good for everything. Even if it's not the music if you write, you might get ideas for your song lyrics as well. Like if you do a journal, maybe that inspires text for songs as well I mean. :)

FPG

Sounds like a lot of good stuff is coming, can't wait to see what the master version of FTM sounds like (Yes Malu..... that's follow the moon :P ) Also...... I now can't pronounce February because you made me think about how I say it lol

Half_Blined_Born

It is just to super-news, Маlu! Good luck, in your plans!

Molmod

All so exciting. Re Q&A : 1) Malu's favourite music and musicians. 2) What do engineers, masterers (???), producers do? 3) How do you approach your delicious harmonies? 4) How do you approach writing (tunes, lyrics, instrumentals, accompaniment etc.) 5)Thor's favourite napping spots, treats and toys :-)

Chanda Panda

First of all, I am very proud of you for writing down some notes for the update! +5 to organization skills. Secondly, congratulations on the new Banner Saga 3 project! Thirdly, focusing on your original music will be fun to be a part of during your office hours. I still think making cover songs would be fun from time to time. I’m happy you’re feeling encouraged to write more. I always told my English students to write whatever came to mind and to not worry so much about the grammar, details, etc. The idea was to keep your thoughts and creativity flowing and to get them down on paper. They could always return to edit their work when it was complete. So, I am happy to hear that you are not too discouraged when you feel a bit of writer’s block. Oh, and lastly, I can’t wait to hear the newly mastered IFTM!! So many fun things in store this year! Haha!! “February, February….” PS-Darn it, I wrote too much again. :/

TheAlb

Thanks for the good all the good news. It is good to hear that you can write and don't feel discourage or at least that it doesn't hinder your writing anymore ... :). Kind of felt a bit when I was, in the last few weeks, writing a report about a process I haven't heard before. It was easy to work on other things even so it had to be done. This meant that it took a lot longer than it should have for me. Also I;m looking forward your original songs and contributing to some via office hours in some small way. Original give such a different aspect of ones personality ... so it is good to hear. :) Now I just wonder what does "master" mean in that context ? :)

Being self conscious about your writing is a *lot* of fun. For instance, I've written and rewritten a whole paragraph worth of stuff about how much "fun" I have writing, wasn't happy with any version, so this is the short but salty version. I've only been here for 40ish minutes, no big deal, I don't need to sleep. I don't want too much more time typing a response, for reasons, so here's the short but sweet-ish version: Woohoo, Banner Saga 3 thingy. Woohoo, originals and stuff. And woohoo, professional mastering person. If you want entire paragraphs about those, just say so, and it shall be done. I have 2 questions: 1) How do you write and be happy at the same time? How? Please, tell me. Please. 2) Do you have any plans/dreams/"that would be cool"'s to learn other instruments?

June Marie (CosmoDings)

I love these check-in videos, so I'm glad you'll be doing them weekly :D. Also great to hear all the awesome news! I don't have any questions that I can think of now, other than " Could you do another Thorsday video?" :)

malukah

Will it now be FTMR (Follow the Moon Remastered)? heehhe! Thanks, Tommy!

malukah

It definitely feels like that. Thoughts pouring out after being quiet for so long! :D Thanks, Dr. Piet!

malukah

Thanks for the great questions, Oliver! I'll be sure to talk about this in the Q&A vid! :D

malukah

Absolutely, Tomas! I feel that because I have been working on the Reverb Empire novel, plus journaling a lot, the language is more in the front of my mind... It feels easier to come up with words and phrases because I have been constantly using language recently. :) And the journaling has definitely sparked song ideas, which I will later tell you guys about in a separate video :D Thanks for watching!

malukah

Hahahaha I still read "FuhTooMuh". hahahaha! :D Good luck with February. Just remember, apparently (well, at least in the US) the R is most often silent. Fe-byiu-ary! hahaha

malukah

thank you so much, Vlad!!!!

malukah

I hope so, Rhinosek! <3 Thanks for being here!

malukah

AAAAHHH! Many fantastic questions! And it gave me an idea of how to explain the difference between a producer, engineer and mastering engineer. This will require it's own video!!! And I look forward to also sharing writing approaches and Thorpy stories. Thanks, Molmoooood!

FPG

Meh...... I never did like February anyways, why would I want to pronounce it :P

malukah

Hahahaha! But I looooove your long comments, Panda! :D Write as much as you want. And YES! I agree complete with what you tell your students. You have to write it all out, and afterwards look it over and edit. If you edit during the writing itself, it will most likely stop you from creating anything altogether! At least, this has been something I have struggled with often, too!

malukah

Hahahahaha! I shall make a Thorsday video in your honor, June Marie. hahaha I think it's time. It's been too long. :D

malukah

Oooooh, both super cool questions that I feel would be great things to talk about, Hydra! thank youuuu! And thanks for overcoming the self-consciousness to post this. <3 <3 I will answer in the video.

malukah

Ahhh, yes. Always the familiar things distract us when we have to do things that are new to us. I relate to this, for sure! I hope you were able to finish it in the end, The Alb! :D I'm glad you're looking forward to the original songs! And I think it would be great to aswer the "master" question in the video! thanks for asking!!!!
