Hi Malu! I'm so glad you decided to share a second episode of Malukast with us! :3 Your battery story is so relatable and it really made me laugh, because I do the exact same thing with other items too, mostly art/crafts and office related items. My desk looks like your desk looked like haha (time to put some work into it, hm?).

MissPrincessCady

Ah yikes I hit enter before I was done ._. Anyway I hope you all are doing fine and I'm happy to hear that Thor is doing fine still :)

Glad the first episode had such a positive impact on your life :) i loved listening to that, and this new episode as well. I admit i hoard yarn.. probably to much, i have about 50 kg atm home atm, and so many projects i want to make, and so many things people want me to make, so have given myself a purchase stop till i have used up atleast 10 kg of what i have in my stash. I tend to do the same thing with music, i listen to artists i already like, so the last year i try to listen to an artist i haven't heard before atleast once/week. Some have been good, some not so good and some have been amazing and are now part of my regular playlists. Regadring having extra things of stuff, things you use a lot, like painkillers, batteries, food stuff, and that kinda things, having a few extra can be good, but use it up before buying more, but things you rarely use you don't really a spare supply of. Hope the pain in your arm and shoulder is better, give Omi, Dante and Thorpie a hug form me:) Lots of love and many hugs to you Malu :)

Hi Malukah! I am highly impressed by your ability to step back and look at your life and daily routine. I feel if I could do that I could make some great adjustments. I've always had a hard time with looking at things in a big picture way. I'm always down in the weeds paying attention to the task at hand. Sounds like you are on a great path for improvement. Do I hoard things, absolutely. I build computers for a hobby and have so many parts laying around, I should really get rid of some but you never know when you might need an extra keybaord, video or power cable or power supply for one that died. Ha ha. We could really clean up if we took the time and energy! I listened to the artist you posted, I never heard of him before so thanks for introducing us. The voice wasn't my favorite, but I am sure that others would like him. Happy to hear Thor is well. He's a good boy. Deserves all the spoiling you give him. Our two dogs are well beyond their expected life span, one is on meds for joint pain but both are still hanging in there. Each day is a blessing. Our best wishes for a happy and blessed Easter to you, Dante, Omi, and Thor!

These remind me of your general update videos, just with a bit of balance away from music projects and towards Malu life. At 10-15 minutes, I'll gladly give it a listen! Also, I am SO amused at the observation that music can affect your mood, coming from the person whose music probably most affects my mood 🤣

Llynya

Thanks for sharing another podcast. Made me smile here and then. Great to hear you already got good progress. :) Oh yes, I‘m hoarding a lot of pens and paper (as a hobby author I want to be able to always have something on hand to quickly write it down, I guess xD). Music is a big effect on mood and emotion, yes. I just tend to forget that too often, if I would need a bit. ^^ Best wishes to you and your family on two legs and four. :)

Hello! I have some thoughts after your podcast. First : I was making a big cleanup recently with my girlfriend and we have found a lot of...packages, most of them coming from deliveries. Empty packages of various shapes and sizes. You could say we were hoarding them I guess - when I asked my GF why are we having so many of them, she answered: well, maybe we will be sending some gifts to someone. It could be true of course, but...we found a total of about 40-50 packages and I do not recall sending more than few presents during last year. From that day I decided to be more strict when it comes to hoarding them :D Second: I had a strange feeling at least several times in my life, when I listened to some music and was quite sure that I've found another perfect musician for me, but after 3-4 tracks I realised the truth that I liked actually only the first one and felt kinda...guilty? Like, you know, maybe something is wrong with me and I should like all tracks, not only this particular one. Now, after you mention it I realised I don't feel like this anymore. The best (and closest) example is, well, your music - I have some favourite songs, but there are many others just not exactly my type and I'm okey with that (now I can say that, since I know you have similar thoughts on other artists :D ). Truth is, I realised just now that I can hear only your voice even without singing and it's more that enough to lighten my mood :).

Hah, I got the same problem with hitting enter just a minute ago :D

Hi Malu! It sounds like Malukast has already had a positive impact on your life, and that’s awesome! It’s great to hear that you have gotten some of your energy back. Kudos to Richard for setting you on the right track ;) I don’t think I’ve ever hoarded anything that could actually be useful, like you, but if I’m guilty of hoarding anything, then it’s games (my backlog of games that I’ve bought but never played is embarrassingly long), and boxes for stuff like electronics. Like, the original boxes with the brand, product name and product image. I imagined they could be useful at some point, I guess. I used to stuff them in my apartment’s storage unit, but last year I had a break-in in the storage unit and all the boxes were ransacked. They were all empty, of course, so the thieves left empty-handed. You can see inside the storage unit when standing right outside it, so I guess they saw all those original boxes of electronics like laptops, consoles, etc, and thought they could find something to earn a quick buck. I got rid of all the boxes and got a better lock after that. :P

Maybe you can get one of those little red wagons with some padding in it for Thor and he can easily step into it and you can pull him to the park?

Andy Bobandy

You call that a messy desk??.... Girl, I get AWARDS for one. Pshhhh.

As you are discussing discovering new music... May I suggest the album Current 93 - If A City Is Set Upon A Hill Current 93 is rather experimental (they go through many styles) and David Tibet has a rather love it or hate it voice, but I thought it was beautiful.. There's something so moving about the music on it and David's voice is so expressive and it just works with his cryptic poetry. As for hoarding... ummm many movies :D I have 4000+

Interesting as always. I love those little podcast. You really have a way to pull us inside your mind and make us realize things. I'm also glad that these podcasts and the feedback seem to have an effect on you and make you feel a little bit better. You just made me realize that I also hoard things. I hoard pieces of wood... Yep... pieces of wood... Everytime I cut a plank to do some stuff at home, I keep every damn pieces of wood left just in case I would need them later. I put them in a bucket in a corner of a room that I call my workshop, or if they are longer planks, they stay in a corner. And I don't even really like working with wood and I'm not even good at it dammit! But somehow, I feel that I might need it at some point and can't get rid of those. Lol! Now I'm questionning myself over it. Should I throw them in the garbage? Am I able to do this? ;-) I listened to Hozier. I can understand the interest in his rendition of the song but I'm not a big fan of the way he plays with his voice tho, or maybe it's the tone, I dunno. But that's just my little opinion. I like to discover artists just by surfing the web sometimes. That's how I found you so, there are some gems hidding everywhere!! Anyway, thank you for the podcast. As your boss, I command you to give us another one soon! ;-P You take care Malukah! Love you always!

Another lovely podcast, thank you for sharing this with us! Speaking of sharing… I try to avoid acquiring too much stuff as I have trouble letting things go, be it through genuine sentimental value or simply “it might be useful in the future”. Books are a big weakness, I hate parting with them - but at least I can claim to have read nearly all of mine! My real sin though, is what my friends and I call the “Pile of Shame” - we’re all into the Warhammer 40k hobby, and the Pile refers to the heap of grey unpainted plastic, waiting its turn to be made into model figures and painted up. My personal Pile of Shame is 131 models high, spread across 6 different projects. Last year I managed to complete 16 models 😀… but acquired another 44, putting me on -28 for the year! 😬 Still, like you I am putting on a brave face, and making a determined attempt to scale the mountain of plastic before me - I have made a promise that I WILL complete my current project before I move on to something new! 🤣 Having watched the Hozier link, I’d have to say I preferred Take Me To Church, but I can see the attraction in it. Music affects us in strange ways, I’m often listening to songs in my head (especially at work) but I still haven’t figured out if the music is picked by my mood, or if my mood comes from the music! This afternoon for example, I was feeling fairly introspective and the track that kept running through my brain was your beautiful (but sad) cover of the Wolven Storm from the Witcher. Still, more Malu in one’s life is never a bad thing! 🎶😀

Hey Malu, good to listen to. What actually are some of your favourite artists? I actually like Spotify for getting to know different artist. Sometimes I'm in a Folky mood, and I'll just put up a folk chill or rock playlist. And songs I like I can add to my personal playlist. It's really nice.

Kris Davis

I run into something similar to this with my art. I tend to fall back to what I know when I'm not feeling "brave". Or If I have a project I am working on for someone, it stunts my ability to sit with it and work on it. Just arting for fun normally brings me back. (But my space currently looks like a mask sweat shop still from summer of 2020) Dont mention hoarding supplies /hidesface I art.... I can find a purpose for AnYtHiNg. I have no advice for you on how to avoid that. (Especially with kids in the house ill just give you extra reasons to save stuff🤣🤣🤣 why do you need anything? I could ship it) Old man lumps are scarey. Im glad you got some peace of mind. Boop his cute snoot! I've been playing with an app -sweepy trying to organize my house/ life stuff. I really like the set up and there is plenty for customizing. Maybe it will bring you enough dopamine to spark what you are looking for. Thank you for sharing! I love these!

Hey Malukah, nice hearing you again! Parting Glass I heard for the first time with Ed Sheeran and I'd recommend to listen to his version as well: https://youtu.be/zXczes9UhoU Hoarding topic... 😂 I try to live minimalist style, buuuut... I have troubles throwing away vouchers 🙈 However, you can send me your socks 😂😂 And congrats about the desk cleanup - I agree, you need to start somewhere and I think this was a great one! 🥳 Good luck with the mastering, I'm looking forward to the result! 😊

I meant to respond to this last week but got busy. Sorry for the late reply. I'm very glad that my suggestion to fix a few little things at a time was helpful! I remember tackling the first chore that I had been putting off when my kids were younger and it was such a huge relief for me too! I find I do the same thing with music. I tend to listen to the same four or five artists over and over again. I play the same play list until I get tired of the tracks. But it's really hard to find new music you like, particularly when your tastes are not the same as today's Top 40 Hits. I do find the iTunes or YouTube suggestions based on what other people listened to really helpful sometimes. Some nights I'll start with something like Austin Wintory and end up going down a YouTube rabbit hole of suggestions and end up listening to gangster rap or heavy metal. And then I wonder "How did I get here?" But I also find a lot of really cool things I wouldn't otherwise listen to. I also find sometimes some artists have just one or two tracks that really speak to me, but I otherwise just don't connect with their stuff at all. Disturbed comes to mind with their version of Sound of Silence. Amazing performance! But when I listen to the rest of their stuff..... Meh. I'm also a bit of a hoarder. Mostly digital stuff (you never know when I'll need to reinstall Adobe Photoshop on Windows 95), but I also tend to hoard old computer parts and cables because it's really hard to find certain cables once they're obsolete. (Not that I've ever needed them - but once I throw them out I'm sure I'll need them the next day).

Ep2 .. very good to hear that talking about it (sharing) and getting to read responses helps. You can see where the "road potcast" takes you. Good to hear that through this potcast you had a 1 to 1 with your mom. It is these conversations that during some phases in our lifes can be "hard to come by" and we often don't realise this until after the fact. Therefore good to hear about your chat with your mom :). When there is a "mountain of things to do" to climb it can get a bit overwhelming. So it can be hard to see the path that leads up it. That is always "nagging" be at the back of my mind as well, even so in theory I know to do 1 or 2 things and take it from there. That feels like, at this stage, in my e.g. work as well. It is good to hear that you could do some seemingly little thing like cleaning a desk, but that had a great impact and you can take it from there as a base :). The observation with music is an interesting one and I guess for someone who works in music it is always going to be a bit nore tricky to "switch off" with regards to music. In away, I guess, it is like bring work (working on music) to the "off hours" (just listening to music). I guess working from home, as you do, makes it extra tricky. So it is good that you could switch off and blast the music and in a way experimenting with listing to different music. When I look at my music that I listen to there are certain types of music that I really like. I always say that I can and like listen to most styles of music (not most artists). However looking back after listening to your potcast I can kind of see that I don't listen to as many new musicians / bands as I used to dispit the vastly greater availability of music through the internet / streaming / etc. To some degree it is a time thing, less time and therefore one rations things they do. But you are right one doesn't need to find the next "big thing" but just enjoying what different artists do. But when I do "let go" and just listen to the music "familiar or new or make my own music" it makes quite a difference to me :). I think there is also the “pressure” of that you “have to like” things or you are not really a music fan or so. Not having that also means one can be more relaxed and listen to music just to enjoy what someone else created. That reminds me on some of my earliest music followings (records back then), e.g. a german rock band singing in a dialect that I did not understand :). Funnly enough, I'm only starting to discover music streaming which might just help ... A I think the one thing I'm hording (still) are DvD .. not anything new, but they are still around and I don't get rid of them and my Tshirt .. but most off them have memories attached, so that doesn't count or? :)
