Yaaaay! Here's the 3rd episode. I am really, really, really enjoying making these and continuing effect it's having in stirring my thoughts and feelings.

Attached are pictures of a day in my old daily log, a couple of screencaps of what the Day One app looks like (calendar view) with some favorite memories.

Thanks for listening!

also I have listened to this song so many times on your spotify so yay :)))

Chris Mahan

and yes I take notes of what I do, and seldom look at them, but it helps a lot :)

Chris Mahan

thank you for a very relaxing episode ;)

Thanks Malu! No I don't journal, but I do write whenever I feel the need to get things out of my head lol :) And thanks for mentioning the app, looked interesting.

I forgot to add, do we like having background music? Or is silence while talking better?

Hernani Delindro

I don't journal, but I do sometimes use writing to make my thoughts clearer :)

I started doing a Bullet Journal, mainly for work, a few years ago. Not the fancy artsy Bullet Journal that you see on Pinterest. Just the original idea of rapid journaling using bullets. I find it really helps me keep track of what I need to do each day, and also what I did over the past few days. I rarely go back and read it (so I'm not a good bullet journalist there, since a big part of the process is supposed to be actively reading and planning at the end of the day) but just writing stuff down really helps me to remember. I occasionally write how I'm feeling ("- Burned my toast! 😢" sort of thing), but usually it's more just to keep track of my life. It helps. I've never really been into long form journaling. But I did go through a very rough patch several years ago, and a close friend suggested that I try writing. It never really "clicked" with me, but I did write almost every day for a couple months and it REALLY helped when I was struggling. Once I got past that though, I felt the need to write that type of journal just sort of passed. If I'm ever really struggling with something I go back to it for a few days at a time. But I usually just don't feel the need. I think however you approach it though, just actively thinking about what you did, what you plan to do, and how you felt is important. It's the thinking that's the important part. But the writing really helps organize those thoughts at times.

i am glad writing helps you, you should defo try and find the time to do it if it brings you such clarity and joy. I love the song you wrote about it, i have listened to it many times since it is on your album of songs you made yourself. I never journaled, i paint instead. Many parts of my life i rather forget then remember, many parts have been bad or outright horrible, so rather forget them tbh. Happy moments i tend to paint or draw, or lately turn into a knit or crochet item inspired by that day. Thank you for sharing more of you life with us Malu. Much love and many hugs to you and your wonderful family.

OMG! The music! Yes, keep the music! I didn't realize I missed it so much in the other podcasts, but when I heard that familiar "Malukah is talking" theme playing in the background it brought back all sorts of memories of the old update / Without Reverb style videos. It's just not right without it.

These episodes are so wholesome. I journal on vacations, because I forget a lot. Well it's more a journal+ scrapbook. Tickets & maps woth routes we walked I also put in there. I find that hand writing something requires more of the brain, you have to more actively think about what to write and it takes more time that even if you don't read it back, you'll remember much more of that vacation than if I hadn't wrote it down. I love it, but it also takes a lot of time.

Christer Lind

No I have never kept a journal not even a diary. Sometime I wish I did.

Kris Davis

I should send all my Journaling supplies. I buy them over and over and tell myself I will start! And the 3 pages in I forget it exists. Rinse/repeat. I even do this with my story telling and sketch books . The guilt! This made me want to try again.

Very interesting episode again! It's funny because I don't feel this need to write that you have. I remember doing it when I was a teen. I found my journal a few years ago and it was just pages and pages of me talking about this girl at school. Never found the courage to ask her out. That was pathetic to read honestly! ;-D But to come back to your relationship with writing, I find it very interesting. It makes me wonder how I cope with stuff happening in my life. I'm a big overthinker. Sometimes I let go of some stuff but, for other things, it stays in my head for days or weeks. I overanalyze things way to much. I don't know if I want it written for me to go back and start thinking about it again. I think I prefer to find other things to do like read or play games to make me think of other things than what is looping in my head.

Julie

Your song is sooo soothing and lovely. Puts me in a better and calmer mood in an instant. Please keep it in future episodes!

I had a journal like five years ago that i would write in at least a few times a day. I've been wanting to start writing again but i've just been very busy with work... BUT NO MORE! When i get off work tonight im going to the store and buying a note book! Lol thanks for the inspiration malu. P.S i think the backround music is a very nice addition to the cast.

Andrew Kell

I tried to start a journal a couple of times. Or dozens of times. I failed. Slimy sand is awful indeed! Take care Malu! p.s.: I love writing stories though but I rarely have time for it

Hey Malu. These podcasts are sooo good. Thank you so much for doing these episodes. All the things you are talking about all resonate with me. Please appreciate these times you have with your familia, especially Dante. Kids grow up really, really quickly. Remember to cherish these times, the good, the bad, even the mundane. They are all part of your story. You won't regret it, Malu.

Norpal

I think both ways have their strengths. The music does give a nice, cozy atmosphere, while a silent background makes it easier for me to focus on what you're saying and also has its own kind of feel to it.

Paula

Hey Malukah, Firstly just to say how much I just love this. Especially the length. It's not too long, so for me it feels like - okay, let's take 15mins and think about a topic Malu has came up with and wrap your thoughts around your own life :) Secondly, I used to journal. Not every day, but every second or so. And I understand - it really makes you go through some things easier. I stopped probably because life became just so fast and busy. But maybe you encourage me to start again, as I also feel like everything is just the same blend of stuff and I don't even know what I have done by the end of the week. Thank you and see you in the next episode! :)

I used to journal, but over time stopped. I had made it into an obligation, and I always resist doing things because they are good for me. However, I did find taking the time to be alone and actively putting pen to paper gives me an appreciation for the people, the experiences, and the things that bring me joy. I almost never went back and read my journal. The important thing was writing it down. Anyway, I can't read my own hand writing. Your post reminded me of why I journaled all those years ago. I think I'll drag out paper and pen and start again.

Marcos J Duran

I do journal from time to time. I started being more consistent when the lockdown started mostly as a way to record life experiences and how things are during this strange time in all our lives. Partly as a way to materialize the passing of time as well as to mark important events (and not always good ones, as it has been). One of the things that helped was a fascination with fountain pens, and during the early part of the pandemic, I started collecting a few and sampling inks and having fun with the physicality of writing. I feel guilty sometimes that I don't write more letters to people, so I think journaling is also part of my way to feel like I'm giving back to my desire to have fun and interesting ways to write. I don't know how much will review the journals I write, but I like knowing they are there for me anytime I want them. And I hope I continue to feel inspired to write them even when it is just a list of things that happened in my day. I'm glad you found meaning and purpose to your writing and I hope it is something that continues to bring you peace of mind and pleasure.

Sean Meibers

I picked up journal a long time ago and have done it on and off throughout the years. Recently I've settled on doing the gratitude journal which focuses on looking back on a day and your life and noting some things you're thankful for. It's really helped me keep perspective on life and my spirits hope. Thank you for the podcast, it was nice to reflect back on something that has become such an important habit in my life.

Lorenzo Asselman

I don't journal.. I fear not to have the time for it. For some reason 24h in a day is simply not enough.
