FIFA UPDATE IN ~5 HOURS:

THE MOD WON’T WORK AFTER THE FIFA UPDATE, UNTIL I RELEASE 1.1

HERE’S WHAT TO DO SO YOUR GAME DOESN’T AUTOMATICALLY UPDATE:

Origin

  1. Open Origin
  2. Click the text that says “Origin” at the top (the menubar)
  3. Click “Application Settings”
  4. Make sure you are on the “APPLICATION” tab
  5. Scroll down until you see “Client Update”
  6. Disable “Automatic Game Updates”
  7. (OPTIONAL) Sometimes you may run into issues where Origin forces you to update regardless, to get around those, turn your Origin into offline mode now. Click Origin at the top of the menubar like before, then “Go Offline”

But like before it’s good practice to also turn your client offline (easier than the above solution for steam)

Okay, due to unforeseen circumstances, it looks like we will have to delay the mod by a day or two, as EA will release a very minor game update probably tomorrow, which would cause the mod to be outdated and not work. No point releasing it only for it to work for a few hours.

If they release the update overnight like they usually do, I’ll aim for release sometime tomorrow.

Apologies again, but it’s out of our control.

On the upside, mod will be a bit more stable, polished, with some new content, and better documentation.

I’ve read your messages above and want to say a few things:

  • First, I do appologize for lack of activity for the past few weeks. I’ve been trying to commit all my time to working on the mod, not supporting people. There are also a crazy amount of questions being asked, here, discord, twitter, youtube, etc, there’s no possible way I could respond to them all without spending 2-3 hours a day helping everyone, which considering everyone wants the update ASAP, isn’t a good idea right now. Almost all questions can be answered in the discord server and website anways. Once 1.2 is released, I will become more active

  • Patrons don’t pay for the mod, a release, a version, etc, they pay to support the mod development. I barely make any money off this. You get what you pay for, no ifs

  • The reason I don’t give ETAs is because they don’t exsist. I phsyically cannot predict to any accuracy. These releases depend on so many things. How much free time do I have? How much free time does @gnklein92 have? How much free time do others have. Will this soloution to x problem work? Will this soloution to y problem work? Is this problem fixable this way? Do I have to update this? Will updating this work the first try? What if I want to add this? Oh, and then FIFA just released a new update, and I have to redo a bunch of stuff.

There’s no way I can predict all that. On top of that, modding is hard. Maybe people don’t understand that enough. Modding is very hard. There is no mod “similar” to the Realism Mod. This mod is unique. The 2nd biggest mod to this one I can think of is EEP. Which is 600mb. This mod is 11 GB. With tens of thousands of modified files, thousands of mods, so many individual peices. There is a LOT of stuff. One change effects another. It’s incredibly complex to manage all this. That’s why no ETAs. It doesn’t help anyone. It doesn’t change when the mod is released, it only just adds stress to my job more.

  • This isn’t a billion dollar company. I’m the only one working “full time” on this. @gnklein92 does a ton of work too of course, and same with others. But this isn’t a huge operation. It’s me with a small amount of capital doing this. I barley keep any for myself and the rest goes straight into the mod. I am also a human, and although I try to spend every second I can on this mod, I have friends, family, a life, and school, which is ending very soon, so there’s a lot more work than normal. I have to balance that with everything else. In return, I’ve gotten an average of 4 hours of sleep a night for the past week and my sleep schedule isn’t great. I’m trying, trust me, you can’t doubt that.

  • Reason for lengthy update. 1.1 took longer than I think it could have. I don’t know exactly why, but it felt like it took too long from the modding view. For 1.2, that’s not the case. The first FIFA update that made 1.1 incompatible was the biggest of the game cycle. Updated everything, bc of the COMENBOL update. We had to redo the Compdata, Language Strings, Database and Squad File (+ more) so that the game would work. This is a mighty task. And there were difficulties, we spent a ton of time testing, tweaking, trying different things until we got some soloution. This involved extra mods and made everything a bit more compliciated. Even then, we needed to keep testing, tweaking, to make sure the mod was stable. Then there was another FIFA update, which made even more work for us. There was a lot of work to do and everyone worked really hard to do it as soon as possible. I don’t think this could have been done quicker.

  • More features. Because of the COMENBOL update, it conviently added some teams and other stuff we decided to use to our advantage. So we also implemented a HUGE new feature. That took 2-3 in FIFA 20. Here, it really only took a few weeks. I will reveal it soon, but it was not easy, and people will really enjoy it.

  • 1.2 is more than a hotfix. Other than that big new feature, it contains a similar amount of new content to 1.1. Which is a lot. Just the contented added/changed is arguably bigger than any other mod out there.

  • Another mod. For the past week, my time as been split on the Realism mod and a new mod (not 2006/2007) to work on, which I will unveil soon. This took a lot of time and resources.

A lot more stuff, too. Let’s not forget that I basically harrased everyone to turn off auto updates and whatever. Didn’t seem to work very well I guess.

Anyways, I’m missing some stuff but that’s my general thoughts and explination.

A few notes:

  • 1.2 Hotfix is the same as 1.2, just all the mods are updated to work with the latest FIFA update.
  • If you are using the latest FIFA update, then yes, you must download the hotfix for the mod to work
  • 1.2 Hotfix uses the same Patreon Post as 1.2
  • 1.2 Hotfix replaces 1.2, so the public release date is the same. The hotfix will be released to the public, instead of the old 1.2
  • To use it, just remove the old 1.2 mods, and install the hotfix mods.

We are at Alpha 9 now, and lots has been added since I published the Alpha 7 reveal video. One of the biggest is that I’ve added almost 300 boots!   • Great news about FIFA 23 modding! We can mod FIFA 23 in a better way, meaning we don’t bypass the anti-cheat at all. We can also export FIFA 23 meshes!

  • Realism Mod for FIFA 23 is well underway, and we have completed (in terms of porting over FIFA 22 mod’s content, and adding some new stuff) 3 main mods!

3.0 UPDATE
The mod is 100% finished, and has uploaded on Mega, I am now working on the documentation, and the upload to Mediafire (as lots of people will have issues with Mega). Trust me, in the long run, it will save you and me time by having proper documentation.

So, FIFA 21 was released!

I can GUARANTEE there will be a full release (which $2+ patrons get 7 day early access to) in December, and I’m aiming to get it released within the first 2 weeks, targeting the 10th.

Alphas will be released within the next 3 days, then betas a bit after that.

Anyways, that’s it guys! Really big things coming in December, I hope you will stick around! This is my BEST work yet by 1000 miles. The FIFA 20 mod is nothing compared to this haha. I’ve been working as hard as I can to make it the best it can possibly be, most nights staying up til 4am just to work on it. Not a lot of sleep, but the progress is great haha!

Of course, if you can’t afford to keep your subscription, then cancel! Totally fine! This isn’t an easy time we are all going through and in the grand scheme of things FIFA isn’t that significant!

  • That means full release is very close! Trailer is in the works!

  • I haven’t forgotten about the lite mod, but some complex things have made it not possible for me to publish a hotfix yet, but it’s still in the plans.

If you want to get access to the mod right now, you can upgrade your membership to the Alpha Tester tier, and you will only have to pay the difference between that and your current tier. So if you are a Beta Tester, upgrading to Alpha will only be $5 USD.

You won’t just get access to Alpha 7, but all other releases that happen while your membership is active. I’m planning to release Alpha 8 in a couple of days, with added boots, 40 new scoreboards, and even more face & tattoo content!
