New Lyrics: "Halloween Butterflies" (Patreon)
Content
Lar De Souza did this adorable cartoon from a suggestion by Barbie Horgen, and I wrote what I guess is an energetic lullaby. I worry it might be too sappy, but Lar says it's "wonderful", so I'm running with it. 😁
Come, little ghoul, it's time for bed,
For good little werewolves and undead.
Open your coffin, lay down your head,
And dream of where angels fear to tread.
For every dream there’s a bat that flies
Squeaking and shrieking through the skies
But cross your heart and close your eyes
You’ll hear they're Halloween butterflies.
Bridge:
Halloween butterflies come to play,
Eating their weight in bugs each day,
Keeping mosquitoes and zombies away,
What a great way to spend a holiday.
Frankenstein’s monster joins the spree,
We’ll decorate him like a Christmas tree,
Except with Halloween stuff, you see,
Skulls and spiders and a cemetary.
Witches, princesses, pirates too,
Avengers assembling just for you,
Run through the neighborhood shouting BOO,
Getting candy, that's what kids do.
Bridge:
Halloween butterflies filling the air,
Dance in the sky without a care,
Listen closely, you'll know they're there,
Don't let ‘em tangle in your hair.
Now, little ghouls, the daylight's done.
It's time to get up and have some fun.
Down to the graveyard we will run,
With wonderful scares for everyone.
And as we play all Halloween night,
Every ghost and goblin and barrow-wight
Knows they're safe from the slightest fright.
Thanks to Halloween butterflies taking flight.
