Getting Stuff Done: A Process (Patreon)
Content
Hey, all! I just now realized something very important that is gonna make it easier for me to get music out to you.
I don’t have to have the backing track perfect every time.
Right now, I have several parodies I’m trying to record, and that usually means finding (sometimes purchasing) a good MIDI file of the song; stripping some of the data out of it so I control the volume, panning, and instrument assignment; struggling to make the thing sound right; rendering it to .WAV files; mixing it; and only then recording vocals.
And I just realized: this is exactly why I use Band In A Box.
With BIAB, I pick a style, enter the chords, and click a single button. Boom! Music.
This does not mean I’m going to stopdoing more accurate arrangements, far from it. But lately my spoons have been in short supply when trying to create, and since I keep finding myself doing things at the last minute at the end of the month, and then only getting one song done, this may allow me breathing room to get you songs and sweeten the tracks later, when it’s time for the album.
And I’m about at the point where I have two albums’ worth of stuff, one political, one not.
So. I have to get a few songs out in the next two days. Let’s all see how they sound, okay? They won’t match the original arrangements, not yet, but I think we’ll be good. Thanks!
