New Song: "What Are We Supposed To Think?" (Patreon)

The subtitle of this song is probably "Other Than, Republicans Are Evil". If anyone has a better answer, I'd like to hear it.

The planet's getting hotter, we’re running out of water, ecosystems ‘round the world are on the brinkBut Republicans won't stop it ‘cause Big Oil might lose some profit, tell me,What in hell are we supposed to think?

To prevent legal abortions, states are going through contortionsCalling children who’ve been raped “slut “ or “minx”But Republicans won't stop it, even if it goes ectopic, tell me,What in hell are we supposed to think?

There are so many ways we could make this a better place,Support our fellow citizens and friendsBut every time someone suggests it, the right wing votes against itAnd I don't know how they think it's going to end

Blacks are killed for missing tail lights, or jogging in broad daylight,Or for sleeping on the couch or daring to blink,But Republicans won't stop it, though police culture is toxic, tell me,What in hell are we supposed to think?

LGBTQIA is really just another wayOf seeing yourself, it's not an illness, not a kink,But Repubs keep on resisting, they don't want those folks existing -- tell me,What in hell are we supposed to think?

From the SCOTUS and McConnell, down to school board and town hallThey keep telling everyone how they should live,Yelling how they must be free, but how that don't apply to thee,Don't they realize that something’s gonna give?

Our elections are run fairly, with drop boxes, voting early,And ride programs -- but right wingers raise a stink,“Our guy could not have been defeated, therefore YOU guys must have cheated!”What in hell are we supposed to think?

We’ve got more guns than people, every school, store or steepleCan be shot up in less time than you can blink,But friends” and families’ lives ending matters less than dick extending,What in hell are we supposed to think?

We’re just out here trying to make it, though it's tough to even fake it,And it seems like every day our chances shrink,But Republicans won't stop it, they want power, control, and profit,And they don't care who it hurts or how it stinks,

If your policies are brutal, and your ruling theory's feudal,If you never help the people, if your every action’s evil,If each statement, speech or brief is just lying through your teeth, tell me,What in hell are we supposed to think?
