To recap:

It is entirely unfair of me to ask you all to pay for fourteen songs in one month. However, I would like to ask you to pay for four or five. So I'm gonna crank out as many new songs as I can, and (starting today, with this one) ask you to vote on them. Any song that gets at least six likes, I'll record for sure. After that, we'll see. Please help me here!

This next set of lyrics isn't funny as such. It's about astronomer Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cecilia_Payne-Gaposchkin ), to the tune of "King of Pain" by the Police.

There's a woman who's watching the sun today

And she thinks it's not made of the stuff they say

All the men think the Earth and Sun are the same

But if that's the case, why aren't we all aflame?

She has stood here before, determined to explain,

Sorting out the fantastic from the mere mundane,

And she never got credit for her giant brain,

So now I get to tell you of Cecilia Payne....

There's a woman who's watching the sun today

She could not go to college, her mom wouldn't pay

earned a scholarship, Cambridge university

But because she's a girl, they gave her no degree.

She moved to the U.S., like it was foreordained

Worked at Harvard then Radcliffe, learning while she trained,

On her wall an astronomy degree is framed

And the name on the sheepskin was Cecilia Payne....

She discovered the most abundant element

In the whole of the universe was hydrogen

Henry Russell said don't you publish, save your work,

Four years later, he took the credit, what a jerk

She has endless Hypotheses to entertain....

All the stuff of the universe, complex and plain

She is bridging the sacred and the most profane

And she's known the world over as Cecilia Payne....

She’s the reason we understand variable stars,

She broke through the glass ceiling, now her ceiling's ours

There's a woman who's watching the sky today....

Who knows what she'll discover in the nebulae...

She has stood here before, determined to explain

All the stuff of the universe, complex and plain,

She deserves all the credit for her giant brain

And she'll go down in history as Cecilia Payne.

Yay! What a fun intersection of Women Doing Things & a favorite lyricist!

Vicki Solomon

I think I have my membership set for 3 songs. I'll try to change it to 5. If that doesn't work, let me know. I can just paypal you the difference.

Tom Smith

You don't have to! I was just giving a warning for those who can only budget so much per month. It's all good!

Paul Lenoue

So when are you going to add a "Friends of Fenton" $20 tier? I'm not sending you enough money.

Tom Smith

Honestly, I have to sort out how the tiers work. And then I have to do more streaming concerts.

Vicki Solomon

Picnicking Avenger is $20 per song. Do you just want Tom to change the name, @Paul?

Paul Lenoue

Thanks Vicki, $10 was the top level when I first subscribed and must have missed the change. Have updated. And now, a slight change to my original post: *ahem* So when are you going to add a "Friends of Fenton" _$30_ tier? I'm not sending you enough money.
