There are certain smells that can take you somewhere before you even realize what's happening.

For me, one of those is tomato leaves. πŸ…πŸŒΏ

That sharp green smell gets on my hands when I'm pruning or tying up plants, and suddenly I'm thinking about gardens from years ago and the people who helped teach me things I probably didn't even realize I was learning at the time.

That's what inspired today's printable.

Gardening isn't always about how many tomatoes we harvest or how big the plants get. Sometimes it's the memories attached to it. The smell of a leaf. Dirt on your hands. Something you've done so many times that you don't even have to think about it anymore.

I think that's one of the reasons I still love growing things so much.

I made this one a little different from my usual gardening guides. It's less of a "how-to" and more of a little piece of farm life that I wanted to share with you. ❀️

I've included the printable PDF below if you'd like to download it and keep a copy.

And now I'm curious... is there a smell from a garden, farm, kitchen, or childhood that instantly takes you back somewhere?

I'd love to hear yours in the comments.

Happy Gardening!❀️ Katy

I come from a line of professional gardeners on my mother's side (my great-grandfather even had a chrysanth variety named after him) and I often think what they'd make of my humble amateur efforts. Still use my grandad's Dutch hoe which dates from the 1930's - the handle is smooth and worn where his hands sat. I picture him every time I use it.
