Here are Chapters 4 to 6 of Book 4, along with one scene that will be added to the end of Chapter 3 (it was originally intended as part of Chapter 4, but due to the time gap, it made more sense to move it to Chapter 3).

I'm sorry about the multiple delays, but I do think the end result is better than my first pass on these chapters.

I'm going to try to get chapters 7 to 9 out faster. We'll see how that goes. We're still in an awkward part of the story, as we transition away from Tir Yadar and onto what happens next. I'm looking forward to continuing the tale.

Awesome chapters! Was waiting for Ariadne to find out about the wardens. One thing that seems a bit off is how information is not getting around a bit faster. I guess it does make sense that some of the topics don't come up. It just seems a bit credulous and unrealistic that within such a small group, some topics take soooo long to pop up. Like the new God names being the same as the old Wardens. On a different note. I can't wait until Checkov's gun goes off and the team takes over the dragon fort!! Also, I am still hoping Yassi becomes the eighth bondmate.

I thought Ariadne will become the last bondmate for Corec!

Ariadne isn't religious and neither are any of the bondmates. Ariadne also has the language barrier to deal with. She is deliberately not engaging with them out of trauma and suspicion. Her own prejudices are part of the problem as well, she still doesn't believe the new gods are real. There is a host of reasons why these revelations will take a while.

I'd say the biggest reasons these topics haven't come up sooner are 1) because Ariadne can't understand any of the conversations that are going on around her, since they're always in trade tongue, so she never overhears anything that might trigger a memory. And 2) we know from an earlier chapter that she's deliberately not asking questions unless absolutely necessary, trying to avoid conversations with the others. She's started talking to Treya and Sarette on occasion, but it'll take time for her to catch up on the current state of affairs, and I'm not sure it would match her personality to become too open too soon. On a more practical level, I think the story would suffer if I put all the big revelations close together. The readers wouldn't have time to process the ones that are new to them, and the characters wouldn't have time to process the ones that are new on their end. I hope this helps!

Another enjoyable set of chapters, thank you.

For what it's worth, I guess my attempt at constructive critique is to say that the situations leading to the delayed information sharing make sense individually, but seems forced in the aggregate. It seems the author is sacrificing some believability in order to delay those specific conversations. The biggest part of that is each time Ariadne walks away from a conversation, just as new information is being revealed. It draws out the action, but makes the flow a bit stilted. In any case, you all know I love the story, just attempting to give some constructive feedback. Granted, I am not a literary editor.

Aspiring Sage

I am kind of hoping she becomes the new eighth warden since Rasul killed Four (Leonis).

The feedback is appreciated. I was just including my reasoning above, but that doesn't mean that one point of view is correct or another is incorrect.

Aspiring Sage

Ivy, can you give us an estimate for the date of the next release?

ivyveritas

I'm hoping for next Monday (late in the day Pacific time, possibly early Tuesday morning), but I can't guarantee that. So far, the individual scenes are coming together reasonably well, but I'm not sure how they'll work in sequence, in the chapters. I need to write about 3000 more words, then do three full rounds of revision and see how it goes.

Wow just binged this in a 2 day period. I have to admit this is a very good story.

ivyveritas

I was hoping for late Monday night/early Tuesday morning for the next release, but it looks like I'll need another couple of days. Things are coming together, but the second draft is taking longer than usual.

Aspiring Sage

Thank you for letting us know so we are not in the dark. It's very helpful.
