Hey everyone!

In case I get to push my design into prototype form for this 'law and disorder' project sometime soon - I thought I'd ask you a few things.

See, I don't get to play the game anymore - most modders don't, modding takes all our sims 4-related time - and I forgot most of the things I wanted to 'crimialize'.

I remember Sims putting spying devices on other sims, stealing, fighting, using dangerous spells, paying bribes, getting randomly naked... All of which fits.

But yeah, if you could tell me what you've noticed as well, and be pretty clear about it (interaction names even, if you know them) so that it would speed up the process for me to find all the things we could give sims trouble for and impact them that way.

Even for the stuff I mentioned above, if you recall the contexts / interaction names for it, feel free to say. This way I don't have to play for hours trying to figure it out haha. Because I haven't really had a chance to play more than a few hours in two years and memory's been fading bad.

Please remember that I need to take a break (haven't started that yet haha) for my hands to not completely give up on me. And I have a ton of work with all the mods. And there's a game update coming. So, I do my best, but I can't do everything in two minutes. Your answers here would help with those limitations and help me get to the core of this work faster.

Thanks!- Lumpinou

Maybe turning someone into a vampire/werewolf cursed bite?

Alexandra Stephens

I’ve noticed with the werewolf add that now those wolves with randomly growl or try to intimidate my sims. So maybe criminalize some of those aggressive behaviors where they actually get punished for doing it.

CozyYani

I’m not sure if it’s possible, but if you “ask for a large or small loan” with a high charisma skill. Maybe if it’s not paid back people can sue?

Adisa: African Stories And Accessories

The graffiti interaction would be great to have criminalised especially for teenagers. There is a ´pickpocket’ interaction that comes with the criminal career originally I believe. There is a threaten interaction as well that comes with the criminal career. ‘Devouring’ from werewolves seems to fall under vandalism as well. Defacing a mural is an act of vandalism. There is a break into interaction for the get famous safe that could be criminalised. I’ll try to come back and share the interaction names i find while in game. Thank you so much for all your hard work. Please get some rest and take care ❤️ Édit: ‘Attempt to swipe´ is an interaction. ´Ignore bills ‘ is an interaction for irresponsible sims which could be punished.

moonlightsimmer

Integration with the Discover University Law Career would be impactful and useful.

Wendy Hubble

when using the bugs, you can blackmail people :) Perhaps some sort of repercussions from the victim is in order?

TheOne

As someone else said, integration with Get To Work and the Detective Career would be amazing.

widowelena

don't know the name of the actual interactions but when sims have high level programming skill they can hack trust funds/grades/work performance/create viruses etc. those could all count as illegal activities. there is also the interaction of kicking trashcans when sims are angry it could count as something minor. not sure if this is too complex but would children missing school too much count as neglect for the parents? these are the few i can remember at the top of my head + graffitiing as someone mentioned

Ciara Pedraza

so even though it’s not officially out i’m pretty sure teens in the high school pack will be able to sneak out so that will be a good one to add whenever you can. all of the physical mean interactions having some consequences would be good. vampires breaking into house or having your own sim go into people houses would also be one, you can do that either as a vampire or if you purchase the always welcome reward in the store. i saw graffiti on here but in the university pack you can deface both statues. angry sims autonomously knock over trash cans so being able to like call the police on them would be funny, they always get on my nerves lol. mischievous sims prank toilets and break them. owning and manipulating a sim with the voodoo doll. ghosts can break objects but i’m not sure how if that is compatible with this. also aliens abduct/kidnap sims, it would be funny to expose an alien by accusing them of kidnapping lol. this got long but this is a bunch of stuff that i could think of

MadameGalaxia

Definitely think the trespassing into sims homes, whether it be neighbors or vampires is one that I'd add. As it truly drives me crazy when they just walk in uninvited! Then the stealing from having the kleptomaniac trait is another one. I think this mod just like all your others, will be amazing! Thank you so much for all you do. Please make sure to give yourself some much needed rest when you can! Sending my love and light to you!

SimsFan

Will you be adding burglars to the game? That would be cool if possible! The other day one of my sims went to the wishing well and made a wish to be rich. The Well suggested they try blackmailing someone, but I never saw the option to do so in their pie menu. Blackmailing should definitely be against the law and penalized. Sims fighting in public or otherwise creating a public disturbance should be a crime as well. I have the Wicked Whims mod, so sometimes a random sim will go streaking nude through the neighborhood, that should also come with some negative consequences.

Piper Blazin

I am so excited for this mod!!! A lot of gamers use mods so collabing with them would be amazing! Extreme Violence, WW, and even NisaK have a lot of interactions that need consequences. Carl added a burglar mod and it's good but my sims are never able to fight them off. Police and alarms would be so much better! Arrests, court hearings, fines, sentences, etc. Integration with law careers, trespassers, streakers, public intoxication... Oooh! Basemental would be good to collab with! WW has peeping toms and I'd like to see them get arrested or something! I'm no modder but I can already tell how massive this project will be. It will (positively) affect almost every mod! You'll never be short of ideas, that's for sure. I just want you to know that you are extremely beloved in the sims community and we are eternally grateful to you and your mods. Thank you!!!!!!

Ardled

Well, in RL parents would have to pay a fee for their children not attending school, so that would work well. And if it happens repeatedly CPS gets involved or children are brought to school by police ( at least in Germany)

Jessi Burkette

If it could integrate with sacrificial juniors Extreme Violence mod, that would be wonderful for historical game play!

Ardled

Children not going to school - kicking trashcans - graffitis - kleptomaniac trait - blackmailing - hacking - pickpocketing - taking bribes in the politician career - fighting other sims - insulting other sims - huge mischief actions - polluting environment - not taking care of your pet and child - integration with violence mod by sacrificial, deadly poison mod by Andirz, - penalty for woohoo between teenagers and adults or when a dependant relationship (workforce, university) - vandalism of statues and graves - public indecency ( running naked, public woohoo, peeing in bushes) - not paying your bills - leaving restaurant without paying your bill - wasn´t there something with defamation with Get Famous? Thanks for your work and take care of your hands ❤

Ardled

I thought about trespassing - not only in sims private houses but also when you enter public buildings after business hours. When cafe etc closes down and your sims stays you´ll get in trouble ... if something like that is possible.

Ardled

I remember you telling that criminal record would inflluence the custody procedure - would that be possible for adoption too? And for access and success in careers like politics, education, science, hospital, police, law?

Ardled

Thinking way ahead probably but would you integrate a rehabilitation procedure too? Youth files that get closed down or not and influence access to university and jobs, being on parole ... you probably have that in mind already, your mods are so well thought out 😊

GeorgiaMommyPeach

And if the higher their programming skills the less likely that get caught! I love it!

GeorgiaMommyPeach

And the higher their CHA and mischief the less likely they get caught! =D

ChelleBelle716

I have to think on it more but the swipe/steal interaction from the Kleptomaniac trait instantly comes to mind.

Renée Cahl

Carl's gameplay overhaul adds burglars already. And there is a system with it for calling the police on them, but it could integrate with further consequences, maybe.

Renée Cahl

Or with high charisma they can talk their way out of it!

Renée Cahl

I believe what you are thinking of with defamation with Get Famous is a Kiara mod.

SimsFan

Oh really??? I need to download that ASAP! Thanks!

HanTheStan

My first thought was possibly bubble blowing? it could be criminalized in some worlds but legal in others. Also isn’t there a pop up where you can catch endangered species of fish. I feel like you could get fined for that. I think that’s from island living.

Amber-leigh Beattie

If you could include some kind of correspendance with Basemental Labs so that their drug-related things are criminilized.. they have their own legal and court system etc. too

Janie Frank

Please take care of yourself! It sounds like you're extremely stressed. I think we'd all rather you take care of yourself and be ok then get a mod a little faster. To answer your question - Streaking with Discover University, sometimes someone will call you and ask you to "hang on to" a lump sum of money, I think it would be interesting if a sim could call the police for domestic violence/domestic incidences, using the microscope to spy on the neighborhood, catching endangered fish in Island Living, actively being in the villain career path, protesting in City Living, being possessed in Strangerville (could be considered public intoxication), maybe seances and summonings from the Paranormal stuff pack, vampires compelling people to drink their blood, vampires and werewolves turning other sims, lighting fireworks (could be illegal in desert towns due to fire danger or something), kleptomaniac trait, animal breeding with cats & dogs?, being too loud in an apartment, bribing paparazzi with Get Famous, and there's a bunch of pop-ups while at work that sometimes lets you accept bribes or do other illegal things. Could be cool to make a dine and dash option with Dine Out with the potential of getting caught. Also, not sure if this would make sense to be part of this mod, but other people/NPCs being able to call the police to complain about witnessed domestic violence or even child and animal abuse (shoving, starving, etc) could be interesting. Could also be cool to add an option in the neighborhood action plans (with eco living I think?) to be a neighborhood watch community.

Alicja Zarzycka

Toilet pranks in public spaces as a destruction of property, getting into physical fights.

Tristan Chambers

Hi. Letist/anti-authoritarian here. Don't worry, I'm not bothered by this. But I wanted to add from my POV that it would be great to add an option to make things more and less legal as well as more and less likely to be enforced based on a number of things. The most obvious, probably easiest, and least controversial would be to use neighborhood settings. Lot traits could also be used here. Then we get to all manner of shades of grey that might be able to be tweaked based on other variables attributable to an individual sim. I'll go ahead and suggest one that will probably not be very controversial: celebrity status. Some might want to set high enforcement for that, or a low one. Or if someone is in a high level of a political career maybe they have higher or lower consequences. Same could go for law enforcement and/or criminal career. But I think most everyone can see other places where this variable of legality and enforcement can be tweaked with a lot of different outcomes. And to be clear, I'm suggesting this so that people can create sim stories/worlds which reflect the world as they see it or the world as they want it to be. I guess what I'm trying to say here is that while I see a high potential for people to have difference of opinion as to what these criminality/enforcement settings could be, I think we are all aware that we live in a world (right or not) where there can be different rules for different jurisdictions....and also for different life circumstances.

Hal 9000

- Vampires can forcefully trink plasma from sims - Alien can delete the memory of sims - Scientists can freeze other sims

Tammy Tammy

I know this has nothing to do with the things you could get arrested for or in trouble for. But it would be really cool to go before a judge in a court house instead of them just disappearing. It would also be fun to meet in person with an attorney about your case as well. And some real jail time to be handed out.

Wendy Hubble

EA ARE YOU GETTING ALL THIS DOWN?

Liahjanae

So sims can randomly walk into your apartment/home. it has something to do with NAP. Could that be tied to unlawful entry?

GreyZoneSims

Can I help with any of the admin stuff to get you more play time? 😂 you deserve it!

LiaShui

You are able to take jobs to forge art in the freelance artist career... Maybe it's possible to make that a criminal action 😊

Jo Cara

Woohoo outside of residential/rental lots (public whoohoo)! Please tale care of yourself. Part of the creative process is taking breaks and having idle time to think. Take care!

mightypistachio

Some ideas for things to be criminalized are: - Fireworks - Dumpster diving/rummaging on lots outside of your own - Sleeping in public lots -drinking/using the bubble blower if you're a teen Also ideas for things that wouldn’t be criminalized but a sim could face over a civil case like getting sued: - Forging breakup letters - Trash talking other sims - Bribing the mayor in Cottage Living - Dirtying the hot springs on public lots I also think certain chance cards could utilize this system. For example, with those chance cards that give you fame and money by “exposing” someone, you could face possible defamation claims. Or if a sim gets injured on your home lot or business lot, they can sue (if they get singed from a fire or something). Please do take care of yourself. Your mods are awesome but your quality of life should come first always. Do whatever you need to do to take care of yourself <3

Sam D.

Politician career: Can ask for Bribes. Scientist career (there are a number of objects here that can be used on other sims- should these actions be verboten?) Sim Ray- can be used on other sims for mind control (ie to clean, eat.sit, sleep or panic)- also used to transform a sim physically; Satellite Dish- can be used to make sims in a wide area dance, pee themselves, sleep, get angry or get happy; Cloning machine used to clone objects or sims; Serums (these do a number of things, , you can google- but none permanent, You can also give someone a tainted serum, not sure what the effects are. Then of course you will have to decide if occults are subject to these laws, and I would put a separate post up for that because there will be a LOT. Inn terms of mod integration the obvious one is with the Basemental mod and you will have to decide about that.. One thing they do that I think is great is that you can select what is legal/illegal BY WORLD, so there are different rules in different worlds- which just add so much to game play and so realistic.

Sam D.

Poisoning other sims- can be done by cooking Pufferfish ngiri with low cooking skill and serving to a sim: Starting fires with the evil glare (acquired by eating obsidion eggs from Cottage Living (and I guess starting any fire on property not your own). Hacking in the programming skill - Sims can hack the following: Llamacorn Listserve; Lothario Trust fund; High School grades; Landgraab Systems; Work performance; National Sims Security Agency; Plumbook; Crumplebottom Servers; Supercomputer

Janie Frank

would love this, i'm sick of making every lot a private dwelling lol

Adrean Roberts

I want to be able to poision other sims too. It would be SO FUNNY to be able to cook with the strange fruit and turn whoever eats that food into zombies.

kesionna

Perhaps consequences on taking someone else's partner. Maybe the sim could take them to court and gain monetary. Not necessarily jail time. I don't know if you or someone else said it. I just thought it would add more drama to the game as well as payback for sims flirting with my sim.

Kathleen Rennert

I thought it would add some fun to the strangerville lore if going into the secret lab or failed interactions with military personel or scientists (when you're not good enough friends yet or the bribe fails or whatever, so it's not just, mhhh talk to me again when we're better friends but there's a risk of them reporting you now, that would make it more realistic) could have a risk of them escorting you into a rabbithole like a 'secret location' and your sim coming back dazed or something, maybe even have some memory loss if that is possible. and to take away the evidence you have compiled so far on that one sim, if that is possible too. I don't know the interaction names though

Kathleen Rennert

oh and also using the cowplant to steal sims essence maybe? and all the evil scientist stuff, if you spy on the neighbourhood or freeze someone. that would make playing the 'evil sceintist' actual fun, now it's just, I can mess with the whole town and nothing will happen to me. oh and I don't know if it's just about policing things that already exist, but it would be fun if for example freezing a sim has a chance of actually killing them. the way it is now just feels kind of meaningless. but it's ok if that's not your focus, take your time and I hope your hands get better! (I relate mine aren't nice to me either)

JessieB

Teens being caught after curfew, maybe curfews can be something the neighborhoods vote on in that weekly vote and then teens caught after curfew have to spend a night in jail, and if its a friday night they have to spend the weekend in jail. but also incorporate some way they can wiggle their way out of being caught with a 50/50 pass or fail rate. I miss robbers personally, gave you something to actually worry about. maybe another thing the neighbor hoods can vote on is whether their weed friendly, if you play with basemental drugs then you can grow weed, maybe growing weed in a town that does allow it carries a risk of jail time, but the incentive is that weed sells at a higher rate. Vandalism, teens and kids, remember in sims 3 ding dong ditch, maybe add that along with TP'ing someones house for example. Some type of penalty for not paying your bills, public indecency! WW users. Public Intoxication, illegal beer brewing (if you use basemental its beer). Maybe add in stalkers, revamping that crazed fan system. stealing from stores. fighting in public. id love a feature to send teens to military school if they get in trouble enough or to pay a fine. idk i could brainstorm all day

Katherine Griffith

So there is the issue of sims coming onto your lot even if you don't want them there and they can just walk into your house and do whatever. It would be cool if you could call and have them arrested and taken away for trespassing or breaking and entering.

REALysticMystic

Retail theft, rioting, basically everything we have seen in our own messed up society over the last 3 years but with out the pandemic. Maybe link this to the law career? I think it would be so cool if you could make this mod to where the police, and politicians in the base game have to work together.

REALysticMystic

Best advice I could give you is to actually watch different episodes from all of the law and order shows. Maybe watch some shows like Cops or Judge Judy. I can't imagine you having a hard time figuring this out if you watch some of these shows and do some research. Obviously take your fans ideas into account if you want, but thats what I would do. If you ever want some further mod ideas, lets talk. I can't make mods but I have so many ideas for them that no one else thinks of, for example: Service Dogs, Abusive Parents, Abusive Spouses, or ideas that involve other modders like Basemental Drugs.

Jennacide

I would love you forever if you made your mod compatible with Carl's Guide's mod that introduces burglars but understand this may not be feasible and you are already very busy.

Jennacide

What would be super cool is if sims in the police career track can have the interaction to arrest sims they see doing illegal things.

Jennacide

You are my favourite modder and I can't wait to see what shape this mod takes. I've been wanting something like this for ever.

horsetailhollow

Yes, that would be great! Maybe police officer Sims might be able to have a special interaction with a police dog, if the dog was given a "Law Enforcement Partner" trait. Dogs already have the "Sleuth" trait, so maybe that could be used as a base.

Simplie Sims 4

Child neglect (not filing children's needs) Applying to the new High school years would be teens sneaking out of the house (Sims 3 throwback) Woohooing in public

Jessica

child neglect for sure! Hate that there are no realistic consequences for it such as large fine or rabbit hole prison time

Jessica

maybe charges for alien abduction because I hate when my sims are forced to give birth lol

Alex Richmond

Sorry that I don’t know the interaction names because the pack isn’t out yet, but maybe criminal charges for teens pulling pranks or sneaking out ?

Lizzie S.

Please take care of yourself. I appreciate everything you've given us, but you deserve R&R. Don't ever apologize for that! :)

Lizzie S.

Opps, posted before finished - I like the idea of a little public indecency charge - maybe a fine - for streaking or public woohoo - if caught. I remember teens getting in trouble and being brought home in a cop car and lectured by their parents in Sims 3. I don't know if that's necessarily a fine or jail time for breaking curfew, but it was fun to see. We don't exactly have cars in TS4 so that would be difficult. Fines for public graffiti would be interesting too (though they kind-of encourage it in base game). I really loved burglars in all the Sims games beforehand. Perhaps the option of fighting a burglar in your home and they can be arrested by the cops, or on a random chance, escape. Skipping class as a teen would have an interesting consequence (I know we're getting detention with this upcoming pack). Maybe too many classes skipped would result in lower grades. And I do recall the option to create a counterfeit painting in earlier Sims games (Sims 2 even had a counterfeiting machine in University, I believe). I see consequences for crimes in an escalating way: 1st time offenses might just be a warning and a negative relationship buff, 2nd time offense might be a fine, 3rd time offense might be appearing in court and chance cards for the outcomes - i.e. larger fines or even jail time (greyed out - can't play that household member for a set in-game time). Long term results of jail time could include loss of relationship status with significant others, family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and bosses - unless of course, you're in the criminal career already, so that might offer a boost in relationship, pay raise, or unexpected promotion). Also jail time could equate to loss of a job or difficulty acquiring another job while a buff is in play. Sims could possibly pay to have the charges expunged from their records. I'm totally dreaming here and this might be entirely impossible to do with a mod, or way too time consuming. Just some food for thought.

Shekinah Sims (formerly Hot Mess Simmer)

People in apartments should get fined if their music is too loud past a certain time. You should also get a fine if you have a party last too late or for doing fireworks too late if it's not a holiday.
