Sette's desperate enough to get him back in control that she's laying out some pretty big secrets here. If nothing else, Sessine made him feel like he could make a difference in the world; that he hasn't been through hell for nothing. But Sette has never made him feel like anything but a manipulated moron, and he feels that very keenly now, after seeing all her sudden abilities.He doesn't know what to do! So he clings to what he DOES know, and it's all ugly, petty, small, and hateful.The shrine's lessons would matter a lot more if he hadn't met Lemuel up on that roof. Not only has Mikaila's survival completely unmoored him, but Lemuel's chastisements and rejection shook him to his core. Well, he can do THIS. He can make sure that bitch dies.Everyone's a mess! :D

I DO love their little moral switcheroo ;^; Sette's willingness to defend a sense of right her Da would not approve of is wonderful to see. And though I understand the urge to wallop Duane with a rolled newspaper, it's also like... man, he was calling Sette out quite pointedly in chapters 1 and 3, and the lies and manipulations STILL haven't stopped, you know?
