Moon Voyager (Patreon)

I listened to this song on endless repeat while drawing the final scene in chapter 18, and got this image stuck in my head. Mathis marooned on the shadowed side of the moon and Matty secure in the crescent of light. I think this is one way Matty will think of his dad now; still here with him, but in the yesterdark, unable to engage with the light of the present even as they remain forever connected by Vienne and all she left him.

Thanks for all the kind words on Friday after the last update. It still feels really weird for that book to be done, but I think I handle these things best by diving right back into work! I'm doing a few more commissions this week, lots of script work, and I'm hoping to feel comfortable starting to thumbnail the prologue the week after. If you're a writer you know one of the trickiest tricks is introducing new characters. You don't want to overwhelm, but you also don't want to underwhelm :3
