TWO pages today. Rousseau has lost his patience with this. Whether Goodwin brings this home or not, he feels humiliated that it's taken this long and he's having so much trouble with a nobody pissmop worm. The Magistratus is RIGHT HERE, and his judgement feels palpable.

...or Rousseau is a little neurotic.

In case you didn't see, you wackos actually managed to blow past the last stretch goal on KS! So there's now a print collection of short stories available to purchase for 12USD. I'm calling this a zine, because it won't have an ISBN or be available in stores or anything - it's a single print one time only KS exclusive. I've a worry that Goodwin is going to try something desperate and it will go poorly for everyone. Though placing that spellslicer where Tree can reach it may help. It's a useful tool that will help us later, mayhap. ~*

I read Rousseau's words and thought "Jesus Christ!" and then saw his guard's face in the sixth panel and I feel like he's thinking the same sentiment.

Given the tendencies we've seen from Aldish nobility? Goodwin's Plat family is Rousseau's Copper hobby eugenics project. And in addition to selective breeding, has been the subject of some surgical enhancements to his natural pymaric aptitude. Maybe some kind of port surgery? Enlargement? Better flow? Maybe some cropped ears or a docked tail perhaps? He must look his best after all. If the surgery is a threat? He's probably getting neutered.

Based on the size difference, Rousseau seems like they'd be quite young for a Copper, at least compared to The Magistratus? They grow throughout their entire lives right? Like human lobsters?

Well, a "surgery" refers to an operating room in BrEnglish, so he could be referencing failed deliveries, implying this Goodwin is just another stillbirth because he's having so much trouble fighting this little nobody.

Coppers don't start getting unnaturally large until after their 250th year or so. So Rousseau is much younger than Valentin. Presumably he has a lot to prove; there's no guarantee he makes it to be as old as some of these giants.

I'm really happy the short story collection will happen! So cool! Also, it's true that the cloth map add-on is really hidden away. Might be a little late, but maybe they should mention it again in an update? I'd probably missed it if I didn't know that it was planned from the tumblr posts. As for the new pages: I always love it when you use those special story telling tricks like having Miki's memories and the present in parallel here. <3 And I, too, am sorry for Goodwin. He's definitely doomed in one way or the other, I'm afraid.

So I'm guessing only Mikaila is calling Lemuel Papa. The younger kids likely barely see him if even Miki doesn't see her mom much. And I was so excited about the stretchgoal. I added the zine right away!

Thanks, Chantal! Simon (Duane's son) also refers to Lem as dad, or papa. But you're right that Lemuel isn't home much, and recently he's scooped Mikaila up and kept her at his side.

Dying to know what Leysa thinks about all this. Or what Lem thinks if Leysa, for that matter. A long time back there was speculation that he had a secret crush on her as a possible motivation for his involvement in Duane's death, but I just can't see that being true. I think Lem is one of those soldiers too scarred by war to ever have a civilian life of any real meaning, including a relationship.

Shit now I want Goodwin to be a recurring character and have an arc where he meets Miki and unwittingly befriends her due to Rousseau’s mistreatment meaning that he needs to get out of his comfort zone to look for friendship

Oh this is such a lovely couple pages. My situation isn't nearly as dire as Mikaila's, but you really get across that ache where you understand a parent loves you but doesn't understand something important to you, and that there'll always be a part of you missing for them that you know they wish you had. The moment between Lem and Miki is beautiful, and I love the parallels. between past and present. Poor Goodwin! New Cool Sword for VLAD!!!! Also Rousseau is beautiful and pathetic here. LOOK AT THAT IMPOTENT STRAWBERRY RAGE... I may need to make him my new icon, he's glorious. Absolutely disgusting. Delicious. That reminds me, wasn't there supposed to be a Rousseau post at some point? I think I remember that being mentioned at some point!

I do wanna draw some Rousseau lewds! Every time I start though, I wind up pushing it too far and then realise I wouldn't be able to post it anywhere. So many of the platforms now forbid kinky stuff. Then I get disheartened, which I guess proves that censorship works :(
