From what Duane heard Shaensigin explain to Roger years ago, he can't help but conclude all those pieces have been put into place by this point. And it's his academic opinion that it's unlikely the Dammakhert can be patched to protect it from the Etalarche vulnerability. He doubts the government has ever been able to do it. It ain't PHP! So Alderode's days probably are as numbered as this villain says.

But maybe the rest of what she said is true too. Maybe the Soud will have a chance.

So much to consider! And then everyone freaks out, but the zombie can neither see nor smell the malodourous Pink :3

Whose Pink is that, I wonder...

Odd for Sette to go for a stink bomb, what with her nose and all.

Fitzy

Ya got this, Bugman Jigley! I believe in you!

Ashley

It is, unfortunately, what was available ;_;

McCord Hall

I'm excited to see her lament this dearth of viable options in her fun little Sharte thieves' cant

Rifter

Just great closing lines from Duane and the Queen on this page. Unfortunately for Sonorie, methinks, sometimes plans go astray.

Renee

Honestly I kind of hope we see the queens reaction when she realizes she’s been duped by a (what appears to be) 10 year old Shart. Hopefully one day down the line she’ll at least be able to get a chuckle out of it

Looks like the perfume seller really liked our Mr Giz, so he gave him some of his prized specially formulated extremely potent Eau de Sconque!

Khyrberos

Beautiful, just beautiful. What a way to close this section out (though I am HOWLING for the Missing Pages mentioned on the Tumblr). It's wild how many threads have been woven to come together on this page; incited me to go back & reread the sections he's referring to (https://www.casualvillain.com/Unsounded/comic/ch18/ch18_79.html & https://www.casualvillain.com/Unsounded/comic/ch14/ch14_99.html) and then... as so often happens... several pages more. Great graphic novel (feels patronizing to call it a 'webcomic', though I still catch myself doing so 😅) Speaking of, maybe I'm too reference-brained but it did make me wonder if the Queen was referring to something specific (beyond Duane's "taking care of Alderode (?) when they fall" comment) by saying "*That* is the burden" 🤔

Jeremy Ball

Sette is going to smell stupendous after this.

Stillpoint

Difficult to convince ones people to be kind to the enemies who have been determined to genocide them for centuries.

Ashley

Like a real high-class prostitute!

Ashley

Her struggling to end the conflict as bloodlessly as possible with Alderode. She's faced a lot of consequences for that - it was the motivation of her turning down the Silver Weapon and the consequent horror with General Bell. So yeah, she's referring to the whole of her effort to ameliorate the consequences her grandmother's Foi-Hellick plan. MAHA has been the one so obstinately trying to find another way; the way that was not another round of quid pro quo; the way that she feels will change the trajectory of the countries' relationship. Heck of a burden! It would have been so much easier to keep up the exchange of hostilities, and keep giving back to Alderode exactly what Alderode was dishing out.

Jeremy Ball

Haha. 300 pages and six weeks in-story later, Sette and Mikaila finally meet face to face. Miki wrinkles her nose and says "You smell like... grandma's hankie drawer." Sette sniffs her own armpit before shouting in exasperation "FAT YERTA'S ARSE! DOESN'T THIS SHITE EVER WEAR OFF?"

Alight

Calling it now, that gas is the perfume Sette stole.

kaitou

Someone had the grande burrito at Pinko Bell?

Ashley

Oh, most indubitably :)

Alight

It does beg the question as to what that perfume smelt like and how she’s managed to fill an entire room with it. Also, I refuse to believe that Sette isn’t in range, and her nose is far more sensitive than anyone else in the room. Though being around so many ghost and eels might have desensitized her some…. I wonder if her senses were at all damaged.

Alight

I posted that in the wrong place. Blep.

Alight

Also, Jivi, you’re not being sly. You could’ve held up the cape and fake-doubled-over to the table for support, no one would’ve questioned it. Your plan is silly, silly.

2026-10-25 06:00 Ok I just have to comment on this, even though it's a page late, I just had this thought. Nora is planned to be replaced by Irma on this project in the interim, right? So Erm is having things taken over by Erm-uh!! She's been replaced with the upgraded version! Someone with two words denoting hesitation! Bahaha!

Ah, yes... Makes sense. Poignant.

Ashley

Sette's got her nose plugged :) She's also camped down in the air duct where all the cold air blows into the room - perfect spot to dump a potent cask of stink juice.

ZeugmaLitotes

Is this the first time that Nora has realized that she was in the same room with Duane when he was alive?

Ashley

No, they discussed it earlier in the chapter.

Rifter

I'm surprised no one pointed out she'd plug her nose haha. Girl knows the plan, she made it! A Frummagem is always prepared!

Spider

Maybe it's because I just switched to night shift and I'm a little dumb but I'm not really following Duane's dialogue here. What did he mean by "be better to then than we have been to you"?

Ashley

Please be better to Alderode than Alderode has been to you (Cresce). Be merciful victors, even though we don't deserve mercy.
