Big Snek expressed keen interest in Duane when he and Bastion first met, but Ruckmearkha was a very busy serpent at the time, and the zombie had to be tabled. Imagine how much more keen his interest is now not only that his Foi-Hellick hobby is concluded, but he ate Duane Adelier's Prakhuta-shaped Wikipedia entry.

I should also point out that her Majesty didn't give a toss about anything else they were talking about in front of Nora's foreign guests, but the efheby business is really something she doesn't want to get around. Shut up, Duane~~

Holding out for the longshot that the creature in question is the Wandering Root who has been quietly seething this entire time about the freakshow arsonist. "How would that cause Alderode to be undone?" The Root has been developing a pymaric agricultural blight. Aldish tea industry collapses overnight. Farold's closes, leading intellectuals and scholars to desperate thoughts. Morale craters as the people are deprived of hot winter drinks. Only Crescian tea, grown in Quigley device Khert-isolated greenhouses ("Queenhouses" as the coopers attempt to deride them) offers an alternative. Call it the Steeping Plague. Monstrous. Ingenious. Sonorie!!!

He was present during the conversation between the Salt Lizard and Roger in which the name was first mentioned. He also, when he and Sette were in the Khert in chapter 18, briefly saw Ruck holding Chea and hunting Sonorie. That was when he stopped Sette from saving the queen.

Irma is an asceptic (i.e., a special agent wright) who works for the Queen. We see her briefly on 17.49! She was also Keon’s wife, though I forget if that’s been mentioned in the comic or if it’s just tumblr lore….

Actually, I should be more woke! More respectable and understanding towards the needs of the Epheby kin, who are victims of Genocide, probably. Their culture is a culture of peace, of being diplomats and communicators. That I assume a VICTIM like venerable Ruckmearkha could be a threat to Duane is very problematic of me, and I should do better. I will be checking out my privilege starting tomorrow, and hopefully I will be able to work past my preconceptions.
