Four pages today! I decided I didn't want a pause between 130 and 131; I wanted that sharp cut to Siya's drawing of him saying the words that seem to be causing him such distress.

But that's a wrap for chapter 14! What did you guys think? Was it too painful leaving the rest of the cast for so long? Was the story of the Foi-Hellick Affair and the Adeliers' place in it interesting? It will all have relevance to the chapters to come, and seeing these events that helped shape Lemuel is very important to understanding the man he is now - and the brother.

Next weekend I'll post a collection of concept art and ideas from this chapter. I'd been planning it for years, and the script went through many permutations. Some of the cut stuff is pretty awesome, and I'll curate the best of it for you.

Otherwise it was suggested on Tumblr that I take requests on here for character vignettes. I'll open those up to every Patron level, but I think they could be fun. If you ever wanted to see Duane or Sette or Quigley or whomever you like tell you their thoughts on a certain topic or person, this would be the time for it. I can't promise I can get them to be honest about everything, but you know they all love to talk :U

Thanks for sticking with me, guys :)

I found this comic about a decade ago, during The Deadly Nevergreen pt 2, loved it, and then stopped reading the comic while this chapter was first updating - no real reason, I'm just always so bad at keeping up with ongoing things, I'm a binger! After that, every time patreon sent me an email about it (so, multiple times every week) I thought: I really should pick up Unsounded again! Now I've finally finished the chapter - it only took 6 years >> And look at that, Unsounded is still as I remembered it: one of the best things I've read on the internet, definitely the best comic - all categories. High quality art (from the beginning!), an interesting plot that moves and is clearly thought through far in advance, flawed but likeable characters, so much lore that it doesn't even fit on the pages, an apparently unshakable update schedule, communication with the readers! 10/10 I'll stop gushing now and keep reading. I'm just happy to be back. And I wanted to say that I really enjoy your work.

You are really not helping your case re: the whole trying-to-deny Lem was involved in Duane's murder here, y'know.

This was an awesome chapter! Sticking around to read your story is a total no-brainer.

I would absolutely read another four chapters of The Adventures of the Adelier Bros.

Ah if only the fare on screens large and small were held to this writing and production standard. *scowling glance at nearby screens*

I loved this chapter

Jesus christ, Lem. In answer to your question: Loved the chapter, it was extremely interesting (especially the DEEPEST LORE re: the Etalarche curse), and it was absolutely worth leaving the rest of the cast behind for a while. I didn't find leaving them painful at all because once the chapter got started, I was swept along for the ride like always.

Great chapter. A flashback is almost always better than a bunch of wordy exposition, and we had a good chunk of backstory to get through. Also Claggart and insane little Magnus are my favourite side characters since Elan. Glad they didn't share his fate. Enjoy your "break". ;) Oh, and if it's questions time I'd like to hear Sette tell us why a tail is better than no tail.

I love the enticing teaser text for next chapter. It has a lovely “car broken down by the scary old house in a rainstorm” vibe with a little Rocky Horror thrown in. It’s the first pageant I’ve ever looked forward to attending.

I enjoyed the chapter very much and no, it did not distract from the main story at all. It was very obviously relevant for the main plot with several relationships and characterizations deepened and even some mysteries explained. The emotional rollercoaster was also very well done. You are very good at this in general but Jon's death in all the chaos in particular really resonated with me! I was pretty shocked at the last page as well, that was unexpected. It added another, truly dark layer to Lem's character for me - and, to be honest, makes me pretty wary of him. I'm looking forward to reading about Duane's reaction when he learned about that.

Loved the whole chapter and wouldn't have been bothered by two more (or more) in the same flashbacky vein. In fact, I'm going to miss a lot of those characters. How are you so good at every aspect of storytelling?? I am in awe of you.

This chapter was just plain wonderful. I had a very good time reading about Roger Foi-Hellick's Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (and getting to know him and many other important characters better in the process). And I'm gonna be quoting that line for a long time to come. You know the one. The one you tangentially referenced in this batch with that panel of Lem's fellow guard realizing a storm was a'comin'.
