Duane giving off Batman vibes here.

Guys, I need your help. I very much want to drop most of the rest of this scene on Friday in one chunk of ten pages, but that'll necessitate an eventual three week break. I really think it's the best way to present those pages and help everything read clearest, but I always worry that it's irritating dealing with posting hiatuses.

Basically I just need your feedback! Is it too irritating? Do you support it? Please ease my uncertainty.

edit: Thank you so much for the thoughts, everyone! Looks like there's plenty of support for a dump. I think I will go ahead and post singly this week, and do the big dump next Monday. A slight compromise.

Jivi really does have the heart of a hero. Also I personally am fine with however you want to pace the story, I love post dumps and respect that you need time to work the buffer back up!

Jag143

Do it Ash, I'm dying here, I can take a break

Ben Dennard

Fully support it. The Storyteller knows best.

Rebecca

Go for it! I'm excited to see the rest! =D

Rainwalker

I trust your discretion. It’ll be fun to read a whole bunch of new pages at once, too~

M.C.

If that makes the most sense, we trust your judgment. A three week hiatus gives us time to reread and digest everything anyways!

K8

Go for it! I’m sure we’ll need those three weeks to process that hefty 10 page chunk you drop on us.

Groucho From Discord

Definitely in favor of a ten page dump. Readership won't suffer :)

Kay

Do it! I'm so excited for the coming turn of events. I'm due for a re-read, anyway. :)

StLOrca (pronounced Ess Tee Ell Orca)

DO EEET. Seriously, it’ll take me three weeks to study the damn thing. This whole chapter has been so stuffed with…stuff…that I’m going to have to reread it anyways.

Talcon

We've dealt with breaks before, we're not leaving you lol

some_creepy_guy

If you think it is best, then go for it! Would it be possible though, to split the three weeks up? Maybe skip every other week? Or is it best to just get it over with in one chunk?

Dusty Lens

If you feel that's the best way to present those pages I think that's almost certainly the best way forward. I can't imagine anyone will be happy with these ten pages tripping out the gate to maintain the drip tempo.

Chris Fox

You're good. So long as breaks like this are communicated, I'm happy.

Jay the Cappy

Breaks are always a bit of a bummer, but I absolutely trust your judgement! If you think those pages read best together, you release them just how you like.

Jerome Scott

You have consistently come back after long breaks to recharge (unlike some other webcomic artists that shall remain nameless…). Go for it!

Duke BG

looks like I'm in a minority, but my vote is "don't do it". I would rather keep reading regularly than be "dry" for three weeks (outside of usual between-chapter pauses).

Yannic Jaeckel

Hiatus means some time off for you too, so, yeah. Sounds good to me!

The Clag

That would just give me another break that I can use as an excuse to talk my incredibly stubborn siblings into catching up, GO FOR IT. I need to reread the last 3-4 chapters anyway.

Colin Suess

I support any decision you make, so long as it isn't bad for you!

Reed Copperstrand

Yes, do it. I enjoy getting a regular dose of Unsounded and I think it makes me savour each page more, but I believe you when you say that the next pages would read better as a chunk.

SET

not crazy about a 3 week absence but, with the action here, perhaps a 10 page drop is whats best

Dying Ace

Either way is fine with me

The Apprentice

The main thing I miss with large publishings is the extra comments you make on Patreon for each page. Feels like an extra add/context to the page quite often! But you know best and it isn't like 820 of us are going anywhere. *squints at that other 30ish*

Alexander Alderson

You have my unconditional trust as a brilliant story teller; if you feel it’s best from a pacing point of view, then do it (and it means I can reread those 10 pages sooner ahah)

Joshua Hart

I personally support droppinh the whole chunk. I've always found your action more enjoyable to look at as part of its whole in the scene, and suspect this chunk would probably benefit from that, but I also understand the hesitation especially if we're close to a much longer break afterwards when the chapter finishes.

Flyfly

Hmm, I'll vote against 3 weeks break. And as far as I understand it's basically going to be right before the end-chapter break, I'd say pacing would be real weird. Maybe there are compromised solutions, with separating this into a couple of smaller chunks?

Noxae

I love when you do pages dumps, they're always so crunchy. I'm fine with the wait after, gives me more time to go back and reread stuff!

A

Do it or no balls.

Mister Scarecrow

Unhelpfully accommodating answer incoming: If you think it will enhance the experience of the scene to drop it all at once; do it. If not; don't. Be confident in the scene. I think most people will be more accepting of a 3 week hiatus if they can use it to recover from the emotional/mental impact, or if releasing it in pieces will stunt the dynamic action. With your track record, I'd argue that if your gut says to drop it as a 10 page dump, go for it. Better to beg forgiveness than to ask permission, anyway. Once you ask, they know what you intend.

Plucky Pariah

If it sounds like the right call to you boss then it's the right call! I'm excited to see what's in store no matter how it's released.

jaen

On one hand I would prefer not to have three weeks with no new Unsounded - given we're relatively close to the chapter end maybe there's enough pages in the buffer to coalesce the break with the one you take between chapters and not have it here? Or have a few weeks with less updates instead? But if that's not feasible, then a break is fine too - I think we all have been at it for so long, that we've learned to deal with those dreary times where there are no updates spice the life ;' )

Cassie

I absolutely support it. If you think it best, then it should be done. I'm a patient woman, I can hold out three weeks for more Unsounded in the name of good storytelling's sake.

Allison Matherne

Agreed you should do what needs to be done that's best for the flow of the story :)

forlornfoe

I think your story is on a level that even a sudden, unexplained hiatus would keep me checking every week for a year. Can't speak for everyone of course, but I do think a break like that would not drop that many readers' interest, you got us well and truly hooked.

Anon

Yeah hiatus is fine, we’re used to it, and if it makes the pages flow smoother it’s golden.

Rogbull

Big thumb on the dump

Edward Y Worbis

You have a good sense for pacing your story and yourself. I trust your judgement 1000%

Rion Boom Crabhands Keon

I thought about saying this earlier, but didn't so far: I'm against big page dumps. Scenario "Huge Dump": Get all pages in one go, read them in a frenzy, miss out on all the important details, start to forget about the third page when reading the seventh, huge 3 week break during which I stop thinking about Unsounded. Bottom line: Less gained than lost. Scenario "Trickle": Tension keeps up! Loads of cliff hangers which are very enjoyable! Can't wait until the conclusion(s)! Engagement! Reread and dissect every page! Try to predict unexpected turns and be rewarded if the prediction was right, and have fun when it wasn't! Conclusion: Cliff hangers are great, gaps aren't! (Puns sort of intended) The only situation where I can see that it makes sense to drop several pages at once is if there is a special layout joining them together, like when Duane sank to the bottom of the water.

Josh

We'll always support any huge dump you want to make! *gross wink*

kaitou

If you think a dump would be better, go for it. If Duane is Batman, does that mean Sette is Robin?

redink

its not like you slack off and never deliver your stuff, you work quite hard and it shows. As you can see from the other comments we support whatever way you go @_@ but i do respect the transparency though!

zepp

You're one of the most reliable artists on the web, and the product is always primo. Sure, take a break. I doubt many of your readers will mind.

akrasia

I don't need to set my watch by your releases. I do need to know that you're enjoying what you do, which includes doing it as you see fit. You've earned a loyal audience by making art that we are all kind of addicted to, we'll manage until you hit port again, cap'n.

GracieV

Just to chime in and say while I do love the every other day updates, and look forward to them with great anticipation, it's up to you how you feel you want to tell your story! I know I'll still be here when the next update is ready.

acloudwithfeet

I read a lot of manga so large page dumps is something I'm already used to

Insanenoodlyguy

Glass, you are the artist and the storyteller here. We love your story. Specially here we love your story enough to pay to ensure it’s continuation! Your instincts on this sort of thing have allways been on point. I think we will all keep reading and loving this and you don’t feel like you’ve lessened your presentation. Let us masses react how we will react and do it the way your gut tells you!

Michael Bruner

Go for the dump, trust me three weeks is NOTHING by the hiatus standards a lot of comics I read have anyway ;).

Sharpeslass

As someone who tries desperately to delay her craving for immediate gratification, in order to read this story in largish chunks, I am DELIGHTED that you are going to give us ten pages at once!!
