The last panel makes me think of a Souls game; wandering into a clearing to see this guy sitting there and knowing the music's about to kick up and you're gonna have yourself a boss fight.

Can you not destroy me with Siya and Lori, Ashley? I beg of you, please. Also, last panel is so beautiful- the light shining through the frame, the colors that surround Duane- bright, vivid contrasts to the birds (Duane Adelier? Ridiculous. He is food for crows) pecking at him-- and the way you follow the line of discovery from right to left- Sette, the crows flying in, Duane, bent, headless, but not entirely broken. Gorgeous.

And arena filled with purple flowers. Very souls'y))

Last panel is reminding me of some of the scenery in the earlier chapters. We've been locked inside a while now! Good to see nature! Also the crows are foreboding but beautiful. Sometimes my head feels that way too

Oh the flame trees will blind the weary driver And there's nothing else could set fire to this town There's no change, there's no pace Everything within its place Just makes it harder to believe that she won't be around

To quote Stephen King's Dark Tower, Duane has reached the clearing at the end of his path. But somehow he's still not quite dead yet...

Boss fight? No worries, Duane has lost his most harrowing weapon - his speech.

If he's still moving without the head then the device that contains his soul or so must be below his head, maybe in his spine. Which means that Lem either didn't land a precise blow (I mean, burning shaking Vliegeng...), or he didn't mean to kill Duane yet (e.g. just didn't want him to talk to his daughter), or he didn't _know_the device was in his spine, suggesting that he wasn't there when it was planted, and didn't know all the details of the intervention!

I have two questions now that things have settled down for a moment: 1. Was Sette marshaling her minions just now to search for Duane? (Sette ALWAYS being Sette and all.) 2. Is Uaid the other significant character that I seem to remember you saying, so long ago now, would be offed before the end of this chapter? Because if there’s more to come…

Karvil

Well, at least Sette seems to still have a positive relationship with somebody here.

Oh my god he's going to be wandering around with a detached head now? Excellent!

1) Ruffles.... :,( 2)Those sad sisterless girls... :'( 3) Badass setpiece at the end. Are those real softi flowers, or just another pretty blue bloom? 4) I'm having trouble figuring what's that... pillar thing in front of the Litrya crowd... Doesn't quite look like one of the fireloper constructs, but was else could it be? A statue? :/ 5) Wow the original shrine looked much humbler :(
