Elka had really liked him. She thought he was different from your usual Ald. But turns out she'd liked the character in the play, not the actual man. Unspeakably disappointing.

Man, Quigs is going all in on this. He's not expecting to live through this Silver fight, I expect- and is even hoping he doesn't, I think. Wow.

Stretch Andrews

God damn he's a complete ass but you can't help but respect his commitment to the part.

Winters King

It's a pretty sad contrast how Sette and Duane managed against everything that happened on the bloody island to begin patching up their relationship, while our Ald here is just so tired of pretending to be someone he isn't, that he's finally had enough and decides to just put it all out in the open and burn everything to the ground.

I know Quigs would hate me for that, but I still feel compassion for him.

3 things: - "Clone themselves" is a specifically cynical take on having kids. Reflects his cynical outlook vs Duane's idealistic outlook that kids can be better than the adults in the world. - Quigs has the unique inferiority-complex hell of having his insecurities built up in his home country by not being man-in-charge that his culture told him to be, only to escape and have an even more specific heroic fiction of himself to compare himself to in a completely different nation. - Dude's absolutely trying to burn bridges before finding the nearest bottles of whiskey and sleeping pills

Mister Scarecrow

You know, I made a joke about this a few pages back, but Christ at this point Quigs really feels bound and damn determined to beat Lemuel out for the "Most Damage Done to His Own Family" award. We'll have to see how Lemon's been keeping at home to truly call this contest for good and all.

You can tell Duane can't hear any of this since his body hasn't reconstituted itself out of sheer outrage at a father and husband saying these sorts of things.

Dylan

Oooooooh if only Duane weren't zombie lego right now... What a sad man Quigs is

James Duff

Considering he's genuinely coming to the end of his natural life in a few years time, this feels like an acceptance of himself and his deeds - a tired man coming to terms with who he is and what he has done.

Some Fox

Knock's just sitting in the next compartment thinking about all the times someone from her family sold (out) their wife and kids to save their own hide and wishing she had some Glut to go with these self-important ramblings.

Talcon

What play are they referring to? Is it in an old chapter, or a side story?

Sharpeslass

Quigley Hates himself so much he wants everyone else to hate him. The picture he's painting may be nearly as far removed from reality as the play. He's drawing himself in black; The play drew him in white. The reality is shades of grey. He was an imperfect man in an impossible (for him) situation. His words about love give the lie to it all. He selfishly and passionately loved Vienne. She just couldn't give him all of herself.
