The little birdie is animated on the site~

As goofy as Lemuel's curse callback is, it's also kind of horrifying how quickly it switches these poor bastards on. Is it funny that Lemuel uses it so flippantly, or kinda cruel and dehumanizing?

Personally, I find it absolutely HILARIOUS, but also soud aren't true Aldishmen in their eyes anyway, so fuck 'em.

And this page, ladies and gentlemen, illustrates why a curse that makes you irrationally hate someone with every fiber of your soul is so dangerous. So easy to manipulate in the pettiest ways. Pretty terrifying, especially when you have a whole caste of people who have the advantage and knowledge of being unaffected.

Also unsurprising that their first go-to on Mason is to insult his pymaric capabilities in comparison to a girl, then to remind him that he's bottom-rung to the point of expendability when it comes to lifespans

I think you've made a tone record of shifting from horrifying war crimes to looney tunes in the span of a page

I guess it's cruel and dehumanizing but the idea that the Soud could basically use Scooby-Doo villain plots to do whatever they want in Alderode is just hilarious to me. Like a Soud gang slapping a Roger Foi Hellick glamour on a kite to rob a bank.

Also, Ashley, I'm not sure if my DM about the paper texture on Patreon got through to you (I've never used the direct messaging system on here before). But when you have a free moment, I'd love the file! I'm excited to try the texture out.

I heard Foi-Hellick stole 40 cakes! four tens! terrible.

Peak grooming behavior I tell ya hwat, No, it's fine to do something you're not supposed to, you're a SPECIAL 15 year old! Just this once, we won't tell daddy! eurgh :p Rough as he was, I am grateful for Mason intervening.

Existential horror often submits to the visceral horror of the present. I'd see those rapists running til they drop before I'd let the nagging background horror of the usurpation of their minds trouble me. Plus I'm sure it's a grand way for Lem and Mikki to get some privacy for important family business and debriefing from the shrine run. And a good reminder for us, in the audience, that whatever Etalarche-based weapon Ol' Queenie is preparing will be acting on a very much still active and very effective curse. Which serves me just fine. :)

Someone mind reminding me how that curse works and why it's there? Also...what's an Etalarche? I feel like the kid who went on a bender the night before finals...

Cresce should weaponize this in a dumber way than they currently do. They should use big scarecrows like at the end of chapter 14 with signs saying "ROGER FOI HELIK IS HERE" as a diversion on the battle field. Only works on aldish territory probably, but still, retake Grenzlan in 10 minutes tops.

Wyvernary

Cruel, dehumanazing, arrogant... but we like him like that! Also very funny.

jumanji-mongie

Is that Duane's same pipe we saw him using right before he was attacked in the flashback?

"My postman's!!" *giggle/snort*

TBH, there are names and phrases that seem to provoke the same slathering, unreasoning hatred in our own world these days. The etalarch seems to tap into something very, sadly, human.
