Two pages today, plus a cut panel that made it further along than most do.

Nary's indeed an evil son of a bitch but that's an intriguing idea he presents. Why would something like Sette wind up in his keeping unless someone really wanted her there? And why would someone really want her there unless it was to become whatever a daughter of Nary Frummagem was likely to become? And if that's the case, how could he NOT try to raise her to be exactly how a Frummagem child ought to be?Never let it be said that Nary A'Care Frummagem isn't an obedient servant of the gods.

Obedient to the gods… especially ones with six titties.

Fitzy

It's tough competition but Nary's pulling out a good fight for the "Worst Dad in Unsounded" award.

Stillpoint

Never underestimate a man like Nary. It's easy to forget just how frighteningly *smart* he is. He's no mere thug, which is probably why he has such contempt for his lot. He *is* better than this. He's caught on to more of the plot in less time than most of us who've been with these characters for years.

Capsandnumbers

Now it makes sense! Nary doesn't want Sette thinking he won't snap a girl's neck. Why, attachment to your child would be weak, clearly it's the gods who want Nary to raise Sette in his image

Rob N

I don't always agree with Duane, but this time, I wholeheartedly do. Ok, being evil is expected for a gang leader, but Nary's behavior here goes beyond that...

Rifter

Holy shit that's an eel and a half.

blep

Love the eel tongue!

Mister Scarecrow

I love crimelords. I love villains. I love every time Nary A Care Frumugemm shows up because he is truly despicable to watch in action. It's the seemingly unflappable lazy authority. The feeling that this is just a day job for him. That he feels like he's being tested by fate to see if he's deserving of moving on to bigger and better things. And the obvious willingness to get his hands as dirty and bloody as is required to make that happen.

Michael Stakely

A divine mission being the reason why he still has Sette around seems like a rather long way to go to avoid admitting he's more like his own father than he wants to admit but Nary was never one for half-measures.

Moss on Trees

Wow I’ve just got to process this. All this was at the core of Sette, and yet Sette herself is not truly evil, she loves deeply in ways Nary probably wouldn’t. She wants kindness. But nary loved his wife and then Sette with a similar violence of Sette’s desire to rip her memories of Sara out.

CD

Soooo juicily wretched to me that Sette hits Nary with disobedience borne of doubt that he'd protect her from threats and fears, and Nary's apparent comeback is "yeah, probs not. welcome to life as a Frummagem kiddo." Also thanks for as always rendering various horrifying expressions in a lastingly horrifying fashion :'|b Can't even pick a personal fave on Page Necksnap, it's all so much.

Renee

Jesus Christ this was a bad update to read while only half awake. Amazing eel design

Flyfly

I love imagining the soundscape to this all! Dogs barking. People laughing. Muffled pleading. Desperate choking gasps. Then, snap!

Flyfly

Alright I am curious. On page 2 there is a stray seemingly different version of Snap panel hiding in bottom left corner. That an narratively-intentional thing? (if yes no need to explain a 'why' )

Noxae

Wow, did not expect Nary to straight up kill her. Savage. And then that monster eel/dog/thing!

Duke BG

With reading the comic only on patreon I missed that on the website the eel was already seen on the previous page in the gutters. For anyone reading: it's worth checking out the sequence of pages on the website.

Kathleen Smith

Heartbreaking and amazing! Sorry if this is somewhere obvious, but I'm trying to figure out how much more of the comic is to come? I keep seeing references to this being the final chapter? (Noooooooo) And also I have the three print volumes but would love to see more of the comic in print...

CelebrenIthil

If I had a penny everytime Nary throttles a young girl in this comic I'd have two pennies which is ENTIRELY TOO MUCH

Dr. Badvibes

Unsounded is so good at depicting the horror of violence. That shot of Sette hanging there is so casually disturbing. I love seeing Duane and Sette react to each other's evil relatives. It throws into stark relief how much they care about each other deep down, underneath all the squabbling and mansplaining and bullshitting. Speaking of which, Nary and Lemuel should get married. They're, uh, perfect for each other.
