The only light novels I've read are the Baccano ones. The definitely don't read the same as a book book would to me. The adaptation is SO strange though. I finished book 14 recently, and there was a decent chunk of it that was covered in the anime, which is weird considering there's like 10 before it where NOTHING got included. Even with the books the anime is mostly based on, there were at least two characters where they were cut out and their lines/scenes given to someone else. Flowers are very intentional in this show, the blue rose being one that will be explained later. There is like a whole language of flowers that I know nothing about but also know this show uses. There's a shot in episode 12 with a little yellow flower surrounded by three types of bigger flowers which is supposed to represent Maomao surrounded my her big sisters, but I forget the names of the flowers and why they are associated with each person. It's okay, you weren't supposed to recognise the guy at the end.

Wait, wait, I CLEARLY must have misunderstood you here, 10 BOOKS get skipped in this anime?????????? You surely mean the Baccano light novels???? Right??? Are you sure, cause the book made me feel even more like I was supposed to recognize him. XD
