Oh boy, the system is a cultivation aid?

Nikron

It's actually a cultivation world. I feel like Rain should be not genre savy

Ryan

amusement.” Here’s what -> amusement. “Here’s what Quotation mark in wrong spot. Ameliah has eyes but cannot see Mount Tai. Is Tallheart a peerless jade beauty?

Alexander Dupree

Rain you nerd. I'm glad that Amelia puts up with you.

It would probably be quicker for natural cores and palings as they only have to work with a relatively small area with level zero borders (they would learn all the foundational knowledge then and can go from there with wisdom from older people). They do have to be able to go into the soul first but it isn’t like an impossible task since the Majistraal info thing said that Rain taming Dozer is a natural skill closest to taming. Of course, this whole pre-system thing that is like cultivation stuff should have its pros and cons. Like maybe the natural way could be more talent dependent as tapping into the soul sense in the first place is hard. Thus the system was made to make it more common and accessible for the masses (skills can be put in the system from the work and wisdom of the masters who perfected them) as long as they work hard and practice. Perhaps they even made lairs so lord can awaken by having them managed by the government and essence pumped into it to make more essence monsters. The civil war likely happened with differing factions on who should be the administrator of the system or something (or maybe the last admin wanted to make a certain change that went contrary to the interests of the ruling class?). Quite an interesting theory that Rain likely won’t get an answer to anytime soon but can try and see if he can round up some spiritually open and patient people who could try and do things the natural way as a verification (could take months to even start but worth a shot). At least Rain gets some cuddle time in the name of science (though Rain probably shouldn’t try and mess with his paling until he has purified everything inside the paling border).

"Once Ameliah arrived, she would cure his body of its fatigue via overstamina" -> how lewd !

Ziggy

Cute chapter. But god it feels so short this time. I need another hit to keep the withdrawals at bay. Do we have any idea what event they're referring to with him having purified some corpses into oblivion? It appears they are not talking about Fel Sedanis. Apparently stories "had been circulating" since that incident. Not revealed to the audience yet?

Garrett

Who’s Lerith again? I can’t remember.

I've been predicting this since 2019. Other people have too

He's the healer who messed with Ameliah's body/soul then stole from her.

Starless

Intrinsic threat assessment is a skill that monsters typically have. He's prolly getting it from Dozer.

jiecut

He does really like saving cities. Also, that's the coolest parts.

Evil Legend

Doesn't that sound like "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon"? Or is there an additional specific joke that I didn't catch?

Kalessin

Uhh. Is the chapter broken up weirdly for anyone else? On my copy of the file I am on page 13, then it goes back to 3, then back forward but I'm missing parts of the conversation inbetween edit: okay the light version doesn't have the problem, I guess just the dark

Nice that he begin put thing together But for us reader it was told clearly somewhere in a past chapter that for majistraal true "mage" or wathever are out of training or apprentice phase and graduate when they pass platinum and "depass" the system and master thing, stated clearly that the system is man made and is a training system/aid/tool/guide Used too for widespread of the knowledge and power/ability/use it give, a general school/education :) and mass produce basic "magic" user for their society Aka so its normal for deviant skill and etc appearing (that the whole point of it), skill are just the baseline of thing (like basic school book) given to people so they cultivate them after And i guess clearly a lot is lost (on how to train with the "basic" thing the system give and the soul stuff training (and true method of "cultivation" beside that) and what to do with the system) Or/and the system mutated a bit while running for thousand years? in automode and because he is enough advanced he have modified himself and adapted a bit in some aspect Really the big question is how a civ like them so advanced who created the system get wiped out, by what? or who?

Combining aspects of the Divine Envelope theory and also the 'Gods created the system' theory, my guess is that the ultimate purpose of the Straal was to reach level 100, become essence, and join with the system. The essence of older members being passed down to the younger generation to become guides, such that they too can become essence and reach 'godhood'. We can see partial, incomplete forms of this in the way that Ameliah/Tallheart have memories/guides of people close to them that died, and also how Dozer was transformed into Essence upon death, after meeting the requirements.
