Hey all, welcome to another monthly devlog! This is a good chance to catch you all up on what I've been working on since I didn't do a devlog last month - instead, I released Rockin' Resort Beta 0.1! I haven't done much development yet this month but I think now is a good time to talk about the beta and my plans for what I'll work on next.

Let's dive in!

Rockin' Resort Updates

I'm fairly happy with Rockin' Resort's demo at the moment. It took a bit longer than I expected to build and is still very short but the tech is all there and feels like a very solid foundation.

I've learned a lot through developing the demo. For example: mixing contrary motion (move left + rotate right) can be a bit confusing so that'll probably only be at the tree in the demo. There's also probably a bit more I could do with the environment detail and map movent but I think I'll save those efforts for the final game.

The next step for the game would be to focus on implementing the main game content. I'm debating starting with building out the environments first before adding the story and puzzles. The current plan is to work on Catgirl Care's first demo, though, so it'll be a bit.

Be sure to try out the Rockin' Resort beta (all tiers should have access)! The demo doesn't have any main story so there aren't any spoilers. Think of it as a tech showcase in need of some testing. I'd love to hear your feedback!

Catgirl Care

Catgirl Care Chibi was fun to develop but I feel that my future work would be better spent on creating the full game I've been building up toward. That said, Chibi still needs a bit of polish so it will be my focus briefly. I'd say to expect a 1.0 release this upcoming month but things may change.

Catgirl Care proper will be my main focus once I finish Catgirl Care Chibi. I want to try and make catgirls behave believably for the game, so the first bit of development will probably not have any stat-raising or customization. Those things will come but I don't want to have as large of a gap between releasing beta builds in the future (Rockin' Resort's beta took a while).

Catgirl Care has been my main goal since I first released the visual novel teaser back in 2017, so I'm excited to finally have the skills needed to create the game I've had in mind. Hopefully I can create a cute cat that you can at least pet and interact with for the first demo. I'll keep you all updated here on my progress.

What's Next?

I've mentioned my plans a couple times in this post so this is more of a tl;dr. I plan to finish Catgirl Care Chibi with some final polish before moving on to Catgirl Care's first demo. I'll return to working on Rockin' Resort once I've made some progress on Catgirl Care!

Anyhow, I'd like to thank you for supporting me! I've had a lot of fun focusing more on my art this month and I'll continue to work on art more in the future for you all! I'm also excited to get to work on future games and thanks to your support I'm able to do that. Thanks again!

Following you as you develop all manner of games has been fascinating to say the least, and I sincerely hope both Rockin’ Resort and Catgirl Care are as fun as your previous ones! But if I may ask, what do you feel are the greatest lessons making each of your prior games has taught you? Always good fun to hear about indie devs’ experiences, so I’m mighty curious about yours :)
